The prospect of Kids in the Hall’s Kevin McDonald doing a new anything is definitely worth your time, attention, and money. The more elevated prospect of him doing a full on rock opera that’s based on “totally true events” should make it somehow more imperative for you to buy tickets and go to The Bell House on Thurs. Come this August, neither is just a fabricated scenario. Kevin McDonald and @ThisMyShowPresents will be premiering Kevin McDonald Superstar (A Rock Opera) at Brooklyn’s Bell House that’s all sourced from the life and times of Kevin McDonald. In the search for a way to safely celebrate and somewhat adequately celebrate Halloween, might we suggest a special virtual adaptation of one of the most renowned cult films of all time, Plan 9 From Outer Space.

The amazing Dana Gould will be at the helm for this special live-stream event presented by, as they’re foregoing an in-person festival when they would normally have it in January, SF Sketchfest. Gould has led live-reads of Plan 9 From Outerspace over the years, but this edition will be special as there will be an original cast member, a real prop flying saucer which was used on set in Ed Wood’s shoot as well as a cast chock full of stars including Maria Bamford, Bobcat Goldthwait, Jean Grae, David Koechner, Tim Meadows, Laraine Newman, Oscar Nunez, Bob Odenkirk, Jonah Ray, Paul F. Tompkins, Janet Varney, Baron Vaughn, Kat Aagesen, plus musical accompaniment by Eban Schletter.

This very special edition of Plan 9 From Outer Space is set for Thurs. Oct. 29th at 6PM PT/9PM ET. Tickets are $10 and you can (and very much should) get them here.

Seeson Orders Another Season of Night Train with Wyatt Cenac, Which Will Be Shooting in Just a Couple of Weeks

Seeso is wasting no time in getting the second season of live comedy showcase series Night Train with Wyatt Cenac going. The renewal announcement was made today along with the line-ups feature much of the best in NYC and around the country. The tapings are all set up all around Valentine’s Day.

What makes us most excited about this new batch of Night Train is plenty more opportunity for Wyatt to spit the fire that he did with his immediate-post-election album, One Angry Night in November (you can still get it for free here).
