IFC Orders Series Based Off David Krumholtz’s Gigi From WeatherFrom.com

April 28, 2015
Uncategorized

This time, we’re going to get more than just great random weather reports and non-sequiturs.

IFC’s latest series will be Gigi’s Bucket List in which Krumholtz’s “Gigi”, whom he plays himself, will live out whatever the hell type of dreams she wants to live out as she inherits a huge fortune after her husband passes away.

If you’ve ever seen WeatherFrom.com, you know this could be really good.

Expect to see this at IFC later this year.

“Comedy Bang! Bang!” Gets Ready to Say Goodbye to Reggie Watts as He Is Bringing His Signature Goofs and Musical Genius to “The Late Late Show”

Thus far, Reggie is staying Reggie over at CBS.

In the middle of this fourth season of Comedy Bang! Bang! at IFC, Reggie Watts stepped down as bandleader and Scott Aukerman’s sidekick in order to take on his current gig as bandleader at The Late Late Show with James Corden. His final Comedy Bang! Bang! episodes are coming up and a farewell video or sorts was made to commemorate him in, of course, absurdist CBB style.

As you can see from what was supposed to be a remote segment about the NBA Playoffs on last night’s Late Late Show as well as his 4/20 song, Reggie is settling into his network gig just fine.

In fact, seeing how he and his band Karen have done over the last couple of weeks, they have the potential to be the greatest band in late night if they keep headed in the direction their headed.

James Adomian’s Paul Giamatti Stops by Comedy Bang! Bang!

Though it never seems to be a good time for James Adomian’s Paul Giamatti, we love it when he shows up and just indulges in abject sadness.

Basically, if there was a show called Man vs. Sad, Adomian’s version of Giamatti would be hosting and would be always ranting on how the game is rigged.

Watch his Comedy Bang! Bang! appearance here.

IFC Orders Amateur Hockey Comedy “Benders” to Series

Joining a network that has a show about a comedian doing a podcast, a meta talk show, a sketch show based on and out of Portland, and a set of mini-series sourced from a fictitious series of novels will be a comedy about obsessively playing amateur hockey.

Announced this morning, IFC has ordered 8 episodes of “Benders” from Denis Leary’s Apostle that indeed will follow friends desperately trying to obtain amateur hockey glory.

It has yet to be seen, but this could fill a need for when The League comes to an end soon.

IFC Developing Jake Fogelnest Father-Son Comedy From Ben Stiller’s Red Hour

(via Deadline)

Immediately, a Jake Fogelnest father-son comedy conjures up a conversation between father and his son about how sea punk isn’t a thing.

IFC is beefing up their new development slate and have added to it a comedy from Jake Fogelnest that centers on an author who is trying to keep up with the times and his son. The project is coming from under Ben Stiller’s Red Hour  banner and given the way Fogelnest deals with the Internet on a daily basis on Twitter, Tumblr, etc., we can definitely see potential here.

You may be sad that the show is gone, but you can binge watch repeatedly now on Netflix.

Garfunkel and Oates, the series on IFC is indeed gone, but Netflix has taken the series in and you can stream it at your convenience.

Be sure to remember, Riki and Kate aren’t done as a great music duo.

Season of 3 of “Maron” Coming May 14th

With season 3 of Maron coming in less than two months and almost at 600 episodes of WTF with Marc Maron, the gates have been locked and many of us are all tuned in.

Season 3 of Maron premieres on Thurs. May 14th at 10PM on IFC and with it, comes the third season of a show based on doing a podcast that was just started as a thing to keep Marc from killing himself.

So, would the hashtag a la Community’s #sixseasonsandamovie for this be #sixseasonsonethousandsepisodesandamovie?

Here’s The First Teaser for IFC’s “The Spoils Before Dying”

March 21, 2015
Uncategorized

You can’t see Michael K. Williams or the rest of the fantastic cast, but you can see how IFC is going to have fun in a LA Confidential sort of world with The Spoils Before Dying.

This first teaser is definitely in a much film noir world than its predecessor The Spoils of Babylon and we’re guessing that Williams will only have to change only some of Chalky White’s wardrobe for this.

Kristen Wiig and Haley Joel Osment Return and Maya Rudolph and More Join “The Spoils Before Dying”

Not that we had any doubts, but it looks the next installment of IFC’s Spoils mini-series franchise, The Spoils Before Dying, could be just as epically overwrought featuring one heck of a cast.

Already, they have Michael K. Williams starring and now, they have Kristen Wiig, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Val Kilmer, Steve Tom, and Marc Evan Jackson returning from The Spoils of Babylon as well as new cast members including Kate McKinnon, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, Emily Ratajkowski, Andy Daly, Chris Mulkey, Chin Han, Jack Kilmer, Patty Guggenheim, and Bérénice Marlohe.

So, just imagine all of this cast in a noir-ish murder mystery that follows a jazz piano player, but does so according to the words of Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell in a beard, fedora, and fat suit).

Michael K. Williams To Star in The Spoils of Babylon Follow-Up “The Spoils Before Dying” at IFC

Yes, it’s the Michael Kenneth Williams that played Omar on The Wire.

Following Tobey Maguire’s Devon Morehouse on IFC mini-series The Spoils of Babylon, Michael K. Williams will star in the upcoming iteration of “Spoils” written by “literary figure” Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell).

The follow-up will be called The Spoils Before Dying and Williams will play a jazz pianist in the Los Angeles of yesteryear that gets caught up in a web of deceit and lies in which he tries to clear his name.

We’re pretty sure Ferrell in a giant hat and a beard, Williams, and a beautifully and intentionally overwrought faux-dramatic mini-series is a winning combination.

Garfunkel & Oates Canceled as IFC Show, But Will Continue You On

The unfortunate news that the TV series adaptation of the lives and music of Garfunkel and Oates (Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci) has come to an end at IFC after only one season.

However, Lindhome and Micucci will continue right on as Garfunkel and Oates as they tweeted out “Thank you for all the Twitter love. Sorry we won’t be bringing you any more IFC episodes but we have something exciting coming we promise…” as well as an Instagram of getting back to work and an upcoming date at The Venetian in Las Vegas.

While it’s sad to see them leave our TVs, we’re sure they’ll write a really funny, brilliant song about the whole experience.

While there are still a few missing pieces in the thorough shifting of players around the late night world, there is now one less to try to figure out.

Reggie Watts upcoming departure as bandleader at Comedy Bang! Bang! on IFC for being the bandleader on The Late Late Show with James Corden really made us rack our brains as to who would fill Reggie’s shoes, sweaters, and hair. However, we no longer need to wonder since recording artist Kid Cudi has been announced as Reggie’s replacement starting July 10th.

If you’re curious what that might be like, here’s Kid Cudi making music with Reggie.

What Waking Up From a Coma in 2015 Is Like According to Women Comedy

Waking up from a coma after a long period of time, many years in fact can be jarring. Though a fictional depiction of someone waking up from a coma needs an update for these days rather than relying on something like While You Were Sleeping.

With that in mind, Women Comedy present a present day “100% real” reenactment of waking from a coma is like in 2015.

Also, something tell us that we’re not getting the whole story here as to the reasons.

After a solid month of hibernating with streaming shows online, your favorite shows are starting to come back live on air straight to your TV, assuming you still have one.

Tonight, Archer and Portlandia return for their sixth and fifth seasons at FX and IFC, respectively, at 10PM. This should make for a fun night spanning the weirdness of Portland and the weirdness of outlandish espionage.

Make sure to catch/DVR/watch online at a later date.

One of our favorite sketch groups around, Women Comedy (Dave Ross, Jake Weisman, Allen Strickland Williams, and Pat Bishop), is now moving up to the next level, or as they’re saying, “selling out” by going to IFC.com to make their uber-absurdist sketches.

Women’s Jake Weisman says to start looking out for new videos at IFC starting tomorrow.

In the meantime, you can get caught up with their YouTube channel as well as their darkly satirical Twitter account.
