All of Don Rickles’ In Conversation Series “Dinner with Don” Is Now Streaming

September 25, 2017
Uncategorized
aarp, dinner with don, don rickles

Before passing away earlier this year, comedy legend Don Rickles was working on a web series, Dinner with Don that would feature conversations between other comedians like Zach Galifianakis, Judd Apatow, Amy Poehler and people of interest like Snoop Dogg, Rich Eisen, Marisa Tomei, etc.

It was like Rickles’ version of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

As they were in the middle of making the series, we weren’t quite sure what was going to happen with it.

Fortunately, all of what they have is now up and streaming at YouTube. Watch all of Dinner with Don here.

Watch Trailer Don Rickles Series “Dinner With Don” Which Wrapped Before He Passed Away

One of the more exciting things that were in the works was AARP’s series Dinner with Don that essentially would be Don Rickles’ version of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

Guests Amy Poehler, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, and Paul Rudd had dinner with Don and enjoyed going back-and-forth with Mr. Warmth.

Fortunately, before Rickles passing this week, 10 episodes of the show had already been shot. There is no word on when and where it will make its debut, but we hope that its soon.

You can watch trailer over at The Hollywood Reporter.

Jimmy Kimmel Gave One of the Most Heartfelt Tributes on TV to the Late Don Rickles

After big untimely events happen, late night hosts usually aim for composure during the taping of their show.

However, Don Rickles and Jimmy Kimmel became close friends over the last decade and, after the news of Don’s passing yesterday, Jimmy dedicated a long segment to his dearly departed friend and didn’t hold back his emotions.

From this, you can see the effect Don had on people and the joy that he brought to people’s lives including the unflappable prankster, late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

RIP Don Rickles, 1926-2017

As reported by Deadline, Don Rickles, an institutional pillar in pantheon of comedy passed away at the age of 90 in his home from kidney failure.

Known as Mr. Warmth, Don was a beloved comedian by audiences from so many different walks of life, which is so impressive considering that his humor is all about quick insulting zingers. In fact, it was considered an honor to be dressed down by Rickles and many comedians would even try to meet him just to roasted by Don to their face.

Comedy and, more specifically, the idea of comedic roasting wouldn’t be what it is today without Don and he will be dearly missed. We’re betting that his upcoming series that was going to have celebrity and comedian guests have dinner with him will probably get scrapped, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In any case, go binge watch and read up all that you can of Rickles and be amazed how he sustained being so damn funny to so many people over his entire career.

Howard Stern and Don Rickles Rib David Letterman One Last Time

Well, it’s quite something to see three showbiz legends sitting right next to each other on a late night talk show.

It’s quite another thing to see two of those legends express their admiration for each other while the other legend, the host of said talk show, is made to wait his turn.

However, that’s the sort of great mischief you get when Howard Stern, Don Rickles, and David Letterman are all sitting side by side on one of the final episodes of The Late Show.

In fact, you even get more tomfoolery from Howard as he tries to kiss Dave.

Also, what Howard Stern appearance on Letterman wouldn’t be complete if he didn’t ask about Jay Leno?

After over 3 decades on late night, David Letterman has 28 episodes left of The Late Show left concluding on May 20th and has made sure the last set of guests is a cavalcade of the show’s most memorable, big names.

Thus far, Letterman has “George Clooney, Robert Downey, Jr., Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks, Jack Hanna, Scarlett Johansson, Michael Keaton, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Sarah Jessica Parker, Don Rickles, Julia Roberts, Ray Romano, Paul Rudd, Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Short, Howard Stern, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Oprah Winfrey, The Avett Brothers and Brandi Carlile, Elvis Costello, Dave Matthews Band, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Mumford and Sons, Ralph Stanley and Amos Lee, and many more names to be announced in the coming weeks.” for his final few weeks at The Late Show.

We wouldn’t be surprised at all if Bill Murray was the final guest as he was Letterman’s very first guest.

1) Aubrey Plaza is “one of the most fascinating people” that Conan’s talked to into awhile.

2) Don Rickles on Jimmy Kimmel Live (including Parts 1 & 2).

3) Over the last few months, there has been a lot of talk about the consequences of talking about sexual assault and rape on stage and being aware of the sensitivity of audience members. Today, Barbara Holm gives an interesting flip on the debate in regards to hecklers sexually harassing comedians at Laughspin.

4) A guy sells punny-one liners in a park. There was a guy in Venice who just used to take donations and would make a living performing his act on the street. Is America prime for “street comedy”?

Morning Debriefing 1/19/11

big trouble in little tokyo, comedy, comedy crawl, don rickles, la, morning debriefing, open mic run, sabor

1) As I mentioned yesterday, THERE WILL BE an investigative report as to where are the best spots to get a laugh when you need one the most on a Saturday night.  More details here.

2) Thanks to all that came to Señor Fish for the Big Trouble in Little Tokyo Open Mic as we went until 11PM.  YES!!! WE WENT 4 HOURS!!!  Thanks to the Walsh Brothers and Greg Barris for stopping by and making the night a damn fine one.

3) Only a few more days until Sabor Comedy Lounge debuts.

4) As news in the comedy world breaks second by second, there will now be a significant amount of more posts on the Comedy Bureau, especially through the “reblogging” feature here on Tumblr and similarly with “retweeting” on Twitter (@thecomedybureau).  Also, several “in consideration” for a “Tip of the Hat” will be retweeted throughout every day.  Thus, check both feeds frequently to know LA comedy like the Comedy Bureau does.

5) Tonight’s COMEDY CRAWL can be only described with one word: SHO’NUFF.
Comedy Show @ M Bar 7PM FREE/$10 food/drink min.
Merrillwood Live @ The Zephyr Theatre 7:30PM $5 w/fb invite/free for comics
Meltdown @ Meltdown Comics 8:30PM $8
No Class Comedy Show @ USC 9PM FREE
Beer in the Shower @ Whitehorse Cocktail Lounge Inn 9:30PM FREE
Anna Lee Lawson Comedy Hour @ Next Stage Theatre 11PM $5

6) OPEN MIC RUN: there’s a “route” of sorts drawn upon the Greater LA Open Mic Map that now suggests the open mics that I’ve personally been to and are now worth your time.  Updated daily, that “route” will be the open mic run.

7) To those who think that what Ricky Gervais did at the Golden Globes was unexpected (have you seen his act?) and horrid.  Understand, first, they’re jokes, and second, this is nothing new-Don Rickles on Dean Martin Roasts: Bob Hope (Rickles is on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight)

8) Still, this is only the beginning, even though I’ve gone 89 days straight blogging about LA comedy.
