NBC’s New Comedy Subscription Service, Seeso, Might Just Be The Shot in the Arm That NBC Comedy Needed

For $3.99 a month, it looks like you’ll be getting quite a lot.

Starting in January, NBC will be officially launching Seeso, which will not only offer ad free access to all seasons of The Office, Parks and Recreation, Kids in the Hall, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, The Mighty Boosh, SNL, and more, but also feature boat loads of new content and shows exclusive to Seeso.

Starting off with 20 new series from the likes of Dan Harmon, Amy Poelher/Ian Roberts/Matt Walsh/Matt Besser, Scott Aukerman, Cameron Esposito/Rhea Butcher, Wyatt Cenac, Tom Lennon, Ben Garant, Kulap Vilaysack, Jonah Ray, they’ll feature anything from scripted sitcoms, live stand-up, travel shows with a comedian, reality show parodies, and more.

It would almost seem that the whole of all of this represents the comedy that has been missing from NBC’s line-up for awhile.

They’ll also be bringing a curated collection of movies and series into the Seeso fold as well.

Sound good? Good. Well, make sure you start saving $3.99 a month after Christmas then.

Channel 101′s Back for August

Even though this is a monthly screening series that just took a month off, it’s been far too long.

Channel 101 took July off and left us with wondering what’s going to happen with bitches, a baby that might be killed, a kid named Markees, a probot, and a King of YouTube.

Rather than try to give any of that context, we urge you to get into the latest installment of Channel 101′s top finishers right here.

IFC Orders Pilots From Dan Harmon, Sara Schaefer, and Jim Norton

IFC has faux talk shows covered with Comedy Bang! Bang!. Now they’re looking to get into the real thing.

From Dan Harmon, IFC is ordering a pilot of a panel talk show where Harmon chats up famous historical figures played by comedians called Great Minds. From Sara Schaefer, they’re ordering a week-in-review show with predominantly female correspondents called 1320 Seconds. To round it off with a third, IFC is ordering a more traditional talk show pilot with Jim Norton as the host.

All three are different enough that we wouldn’t be surprised to see all of them get a short first season order.

Joel McHale Says Season 6 Was The Last Season of “Community”; Sony and Yahoo Say They’re Still in Discussions

However, there still seems to be hope for a movie.

Community star Joel McHale said that Yahoo couldn’t afford another season of Community with all of the cast’s rates going up since the beginning of the series. However, Yahoo and Sony, in response to McHale’s comments, are apparently still talking about what might be next.

Still, McHale, series creator Dan Harmon along with these open discussions between Yahoo and Sony point towards the goal of #sixseasonsandamovie coming to fruition.

Rick and Morty was one of the best shows we’ve seen in recent memory and certainly could be the start of the next great animated series franchise.

So, you can imagine that we’re pretty damn excited for season 2.

Thus, we’re going to watch this season 2 trailer and yell “WUBADUBDUB!” over and over for a while until Rick and Morty season premiere on Sun. Jul. 26th at 11:30PM on Adult Swim.

It Would Seem That The Fate of “Community” Comes Down To Whether Everyone Wants To Come Back

As of right now, there is no official word on whether there will be a 7th season of Community on Yahoo.

Yet, based off of Joel McHale’s appearance on Conan this week and the positive response that the season 6 finale seems to be getting, the door seems open to doing a movie or more episodes of Community so long as the cast and Dan Harmon want to get moving on either one.

They are so close to accomplishing #sixseasonsandamovie, but it would be hard to think of them doing a movie just for a hashtag.

This latest batch of Channel 101 is as hysterically dark as it’s even been and we’re loving it.

Paul Isakson’s meta first person vlog King of YouTube and Alex Kavutskiy and Ariel Gardner’s Kill The Baby finished at the top in the round of Channel 101, which, we think, show the rest of TV how to really blend horror and comedy.

Also, check out the other top series from this month delightfully titled Caveman Hate Technology, Stupid Bitch, and Natasha.

The short form, indie-as-indie-can-be TV phenomenon known as Channel 101 created by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab has inaugurated its 2015 season.

Already, they kicked 2015 off with one hell of a start with a new pilot, Kill The Baby, topping the votes Car Jumper and Skateboard Cop continuing their runs, as well new shows Halfway House and Father and Son rounding out the top 5.

Also, there’s an incredibly epic finale of Santiago.

In addition to that, you can catch the whole of The Channel 101 Incredibly Prestigious Achievement Awards from last year here.

As always, if you’re not familiar with any of this, then get familiar. If you are, this is a great alternative to The Super Bowl/there’s plenty of time to kill before The Super Bowl.

While there’s certainly ways to watch episodes of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty legally online, it’s hard to not want to get the DVD box set of one of the best shows on TV despite it not getting thrown into the same sentences as everyone’s favorite one hour dramas on cable and online streaming providers.

So, with that in mind, keep Oct. 7th in mind, the day that season one of Rick and Morty comes out on DVD. Series co-creator Justin Roiland will even pick someone at random to win a copy if you RT this tweet.

Yesterday, there was a panel for Community at Comic Con and series creator Dan Harmon remarked that the return of the show would probably come after Christmas at their new home at Yahoo.

It might be a few months to wait, but we have a feeling that it will be worth given the fact that Harmon isn’t necessarily bound by 22 min. running time for a half hour sitcom or as stringent language/content restrictions.
