Fox Orders Live Action Animated Hybrid “Son of Zorn” from Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Reed Agnew, and Eli Jorne to Series

(via Deadline)

Given Fox’s track record with animated series and Lord and Miller along with Wilfred’s Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne, Son of Zorn has a whole lot going for it.

Jason Sudeikis will be the voice of Zorn in a comedy that follows a legendary warrior reconnecting with his family played by Cheryl Hines and Johnny Pemberton, but also having to settle down to the normal 9 to 5 like so many of the rest of us.

Hopefully, this will deliver on how promising it sounds.

Emily Heller’s “Good For Her” Now on Pre-Order w/Horny For Heller T-Shirts

Emily Heller’s album Good For Her is another reason why this Friday is going to be a great day for comedy releases. Off of the same label, Kill Rock Stars, Ian Karmel and her are both releasing albums on that day just so you know.

Good For Her tours the mind of Emily Heller with all of its eccentricities structured very neatly into several bits that are both personal, yet also playful. A whole chunk on the multiple layers in which Frasier figures Emily’s life, both literally and metaphorically, is a pretty great example of that.

You can now pre-order Good For Her along with a T-shirt that has “Horny For Heller” printed on it for a Nov. 13th release. Also, if you’re one of the first 50 people to put an order for a CD, actual “googly eyes” will be glued on.

Transparent got so many accolades and honors on top of it being a culturally groundbreaking in its first season that it seems like it has many more seasons under its belt.

Yet, Jill Soloway’s brilliant Transparent is set to stream its second season on Amazon on Fri. Dec. 11th.

If this teaser is any indication, the series will pick up right where they left off.

The Jon Benjamin Has a Van gang is at it again.

IFC is “sexing” up their development slate with a project from Leo Allen and H. Jon Benjamin, who last worked together on the unfortunately short lived Jon Benjamin Has a Van.

Allen and Benjamin have created a series where Jon will narrate varied tales of passion, lust, and romance that he has nothing to do with or will ever get to take part in.

If you’re familiar at all with any of Benjamin’s work, you’ll be crossing your fingers that this will be something that goes to series soon.

Kitty Sanchez is finally in control of things.

Judy Greer has made a career off of being a comedic supporting actress, so much so that she wrote a book about it called I Don’t Know What You Know Me From.

Now, she’s going on to the directorial side of things with her first feature film as a director, “A Happening of Monumental Proportions”. Besides knowing that Allison Janney and Common will star and there will be dead bodies and sex at a school, there isn’t much else to go off of, but we’re more than intrigued to see what Greer comes up with.

For years, Screen Junkies has amassed a gigantic fan base with their various series including Honest Trailers.

With over a billion views of their YouTube channel and nearly 5 million subscribers, they’re not only getting expanded, but also having that expansion be for subscribers.

That’s right. A YouTube channel that is focused on a comedic breakdown of movies and TV from every angle possible is getting its own subscription streaming service.

Screen Junkies Plus will offer several new series with all of your favorite Screen Junkies pundits including a scripted show “Interns of F.I.E.L.D., a show that imagines after credits scenes for movies that don’t have them, another one that ponders how certain movies hold up years after its theatrical release, and much much more exclusive content/swag/etc.

If you’re already hooked in, Screen Junkies Plus launches next week on Nov. 17th for $4.99 per month.

Of course, there’s a trailer with epic movie voice guy for this announcement.

Also, the new Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is attached to produce.

Comedian Max Silvestri has just sold NBC its latest single camera project, giving us a little more encouragement for their comedy development slate outside of Seeso. Relative Success, which Max wrote, will center on the blurring of personal and professional lines between brothers that just happen to be a successful author and book editor.

We loved Max’s work on the web series Gabe & Max Need Help and have no doubt that this will be very promising

Sean Donnelly Was on Conan Last Night, Has an Album Coming Out Friday, and a Half Hour Special on Saturday

This is a banner weekend for NYC’s Sean Donnelly.

He just notched in a set on Conan last night. has his album “Manual Labor Face” coming out this Friday on nearly all major digital platforms including CC:Stand-Up Direct and has his half-hour special premiering on Comedy Central the very next night, Sat. Nov. 14th, at midnight.

Sean is an increasingly rare breed of comedian that attacks with his jokes relentlessly on stage, all while laughing and smiling the whole way through. His rambunctious persona is infectious whether it be his material, crowd work, or riffing and his late night appearance, album and special should all prove that to any and all.

So, with that said, you have plenty of Sean Donnelly to get into.

As the Happy Birthday Song is now public domain, Stephen Colbert and The Late Show have not only tasked themselves with making a special recording of the song for us all with the one and only Darlene Love, but he’s doing so for pretty much each and every one of us.

He’s made an entire channel on YouTube that one could use to wish Happy Birthday to someone with that spans over 1,200 names and counting. If you’re name isn’t there, Stephen is even taking name suggestions to make this Late Show Birthday channel as comprehensive as possible.

Though it’s not our birthday today, this is a pretty great present from The Late Show all year round.

Is it one where all of these hysterical comedians are doing comedy? Nope.

Outside Comedy will delve into what they do outside of their job as a comedian, arguably the thing that keeps them sane.

Intrigued? Of course you are. Watch a trailer for the series here.

Angela Kinsey Developing and Possibly Starring in Telemarketing Comedy for TBS

Yep, Angela Kinsey might be headed back to an office.

Whether doing accounting at a paper company or working at a 1-800 call center is more dreadful than the other is up for debate, but Angela Kinsey, who broke out in her role as Angela on the U.S. version of The Office, being in a workplace comedy is always a good thing.

Taking from her own experience working at a call center, Kinsey is writing this comedy, aptly named 1-800, for TBS, which is going under a whole makeover right now.

She might star in it, though we can’t imagine that if she does that she’d be nearly anything like Dunder Mifflin’s Angela.

We can only hope that will get to see in order to find out.

In addition to Emily Heller’s Good For Her, Kill Rock Stars is also putting another great comedy album, Ian Karmel’s 9.2 on Pitchfork.

This is Ian’s very first comedy album and it leaves a damn fine impression of Karmel and his stand-up. The hour weaves through every bit of Ian and gets quite personal, but Ian’s upbeat spirit and colorful attention to detail makes for one fun ride. Certainly, we think music tastemakers Pitchfork should entertain a special case for their rating system as the title of this album subtly suggests.

9.2 on Pitchfork comes out tomorrow, but if you’re really hankering for it, you can pre-order it from Kill Rock Stars here.

Unlike the half time show, Stephen Colbert and James Corden won’t have to pay for their airtime.

Everyone knows that the commercials for The Super Bowl, the most regularly watched TV event in human history. Similarly, the slot that follows the awarding of the Vince Lombardi is also highly coveted as its guaranteed high ratings.

Often networks use that slot to introduce new shows, but CBS, in their tenure of having the Super Bowl on their network, will opt to go with special episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Late Late Show with James Corden on Feb. 7th.

This will be the first time that late night has brought up the rear for The Super Bowl on a major network, so don’t be surprised if Colbert and Corden pull out all the stops for it.

As you saw this morning, Colbert just went all out for the Happy Birthday song and Corden has done entire episodes from strangers houses. So, just imagine what they’ll do with this episode.
