James Corden and Reggie Watts Make Sure to Soundcheck Everything in Their First Late Late Show Soundcheck

March 11, 2015
Uncategorized

It’s a new era of late night, so it wouldn’t hurt to make sure that every single crevice of the new Late Late Show set sounds pristine.

It’s bits like this that’ll be why the new Late Late Show host James Corden and bandleader Reggie Watts should be having a lot of unabashed silly fun.

The premiere is less than two weeks away on Mon. Mar. 23rd on CBS.

Derek Zoolander and Hansel Get Coached by Anna Wintour and Full Video of Them on The Valentino Catwalk

In addition to Zoolander 2 coming to theaters next year on Feb. 12th and Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as Derek Zoolander and Hansel walking down the Valentino catwalk in Paris at the end of a real fashion show, Derek and Hansel got some words of encouragement from the one and only Anna Wintour in an exclusive video for Vogue.

Then, both Derek and Hansel actually walked the catwalk at the same time and had a pretty great staredown.

Enjoy these clips for awhile because it’ll be quite some time before we see any teasers or trailers for the movie.

Monty Python Documentary “The Meaning of Live” To Premiere at Tribeca on 40th Anniversary of “Holy Grail”

As it has been two score since the release of legendary comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this year’s Tribeca Film Festival is marking the occasion with a run of several Python films as well as the premiere of a feature length documentary following Monty Python off and backstage.

Roger Graef and James Rogan put together an entire feature length documentary entitled Monty Python – The Meaning of Live, which is set to play at Tribeca on Apr. 25th. The film offers up a close look behind the scenes of the Pythons and what went into for their recent O2 Arena run.

The sounds of clattering, hollowed coconuts will undoubtedly be heard somewhere during this anniversary.

While on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, Eric Andre and Jimmy Kimmel Talk About That One Time Jimmy Kimmel Was on “The Eric Andre Show”

It’s not necessarily a who-live-to-tell-the-tale experience when guests do a segment on The Eric Andre Show, but host Eric Andre certainly makes a point of putting anyone who comes on the show through the ringer to a degree where some folks walk out and never speak of it again.

Jimmy Kimmel, however, knew what he was in for.

Jimmy Kimmel was a recent guest on The Eric Andre Show and revisited his experience, which he was game for, while on his own non-parody of a talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live with Eric Andre himself.

Also, if you wondering, here’s the full clip of Jimmy’s visit to The Eric Andre Show.

Sara Schaefer’s Debut Comedy Album “Chrysalis” Out Next Week From Comedy Dynamics

March 11, 2015
Uncategorized

Sara Schaefer is a perfect example of why “female comedians” should just be labeled as “comedians” and don’t need to be brought up on stage with “Are you guys ready for a lady?” because she’s outright funny, no qualifiers needed.

Her debut comedy album Chrysalis should back that statement up thoroughly.

Sara’s comedic lens is a wonderfully empowering one, especially for those who are tired of the world’s seemingly arbitrary standards with everything. For instance, you’ll be able to hear about It how crying at a museum can be one of the best things you can do at a museum.

Chrysalis comes out next week from Comedy Dynamics on Mar. 17th, but you can pre-order it now.

Will Ferrell To Pull Off MLB Spring Training Feat For HBO Special

Will Ferrell will to attempt to play several positions at several different Major League Baseball spring training fields in Arizona over the course of one day. The result will be a HBO special that Funny or Die and the MLB have partnered for in dedication to organizations fighting against cancer.

#FerrellTakesTheField will be the hashtag to follow how Ferrell will pull off doing this, which we’re guessing he will do in a similar fashion to the time he beat Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith in a drum off.

Ferrell will probably have the record for most stunts in support of charity very soon.

Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer Really Take Being on “The Daily Show” All In

It’s very clear that one of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s dreams was to be on The Daily Show as a guest chatting it up with Jon Stewart.

What the Broad City duo wasn’t counting on is the well deserved compliments from Stewart at the top of the interview. You can see throughout the whole segment that there is a very blurred line between Abbi and Ilana on the show and who they are in real life.

Watch their web exclusive extended interview here.

Feeling like making an online dating profile is waste of time and are losing faith in finding love? Well, we don’t have a solution for that, but these Ménage à Trois Radio Romance Wranglers retro dating profile videos should make you feel better.

Murf Meyer and  Diana Kolsky host a real steamy love and relationship show called Ménage à Trois Radio and, for some fun, they made these old school dating profile videos featuring the likes of Neil Casey, Shannon O’Neill, Connor Ratliff and so many more funny folks.

Like we said, Romance Wranglers won’t cure your troubles with Tinder or OK Cupid, but you’ll definitely will feel better knowing you could be doing worse with whoever you’re matched up with.

Watch it here, here, or more over here.

Pivot Developing Topical Show with Wyatt Cenac

Topical comedy shows hosted by stand-up comedians seem to be the order of the week.

Earlier this week, Comedy Central ordered a Hannibal Buress topical comedy show “Why?”. In announcing their upcoming programming and development slate for this year, Pivot has gotten Wyatt Cenac on board to develop a topical show that will explore Cenac’s take on today’s issues.

Perhaps there will be reenactments with puppets like on his comedy special, Brooklyn.

Anthony Jeselnik Will Host and Norm MacDonald Will Be a Judge on The Next Season of “Last Comic Standing”

Anthony Jeselnik will be taking the place of J.B. Smoove and Norm MacDonald will do the same for Russell Peters and we can only hope and pray that makes for some fun quick burns and moments that won’t be unlike when Andy Kindler was a judge on Last Comic Standing all those years ago.

This is a very intriguing move and could possibly be a much needed jolt to the franchise. The back-and-forth between the remaining judges Roseanne Barr and Keenen Ivory Wayans and Norm and Jeselnik could potentially be a show by itself.

We’ll have to wait this Summer on NBC.

Showtime To Offer Stand Alone Streaming Service

Online streaming definitely seems to be the future of TV. Netflix gets bigger everyday and more broadcast and cable networks seem to be migrating their content online. HBO Now is set to launch next month and Showtime will be following suit with their own standalone service soon. We hope they include access to their comedy specials and series with that.

“The Green Room with Paul Provenza”, “Episodes”, “Inside Comedy”, “Knock, Knock It’s Tig Notaro”, “The Big C”, “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” and comedy specials from Dana Gould, Larry Wilmore, and more are some of things we could potentially have to look forward to with a Showtime streaming service.

Sounds kind of nice, right?

“The Grace Helbig Show” Will Forego Traditional Talk Show Couch and More

March 12, 2015
Uncategorized
e!, grace helbig, the grace helbig show

The talk show tradition has been firmly established on American television and part of that tradition is having a couch or couches where a host and a guest can chat intimately in front of a live audience.

The Grace Helbig Show, that’s coming soon to E!, is going to forget about that and go, based on this promo, for something that’s more akin to a mix of Last Call with Carson Daly, The Pete Holmes Show, and Insomniac with Dave Attell. Sound intriguing? Of course it does.

Grace Helbig has amassed quite the following online, mostly by doing everything with an unstoppable DIY spirit and unflappable charm and she’s going to translate that to an actual talk show on TV. So, she’ll do interviews as remotes in different locations like they do on Last Call, be driving around to various places and hanging out like Insomniac, and have a sort of joyful exuberance that Pete Holmes had when he was hosting.

It will be nice to see a complete retuning of the talk show model without it being at all a parody of it.

We’ll get to see if all of these elements play out in the series premiere next month on Fri. Apr. 3rd at 10:30PM E!

Up Next To The Emmys Host Plate, Andy Samberg

(via Deadline)

Seth Meyers shepherded The Emmys last year just fine, but Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have set a new standard for having fun in hosting awards show. Perhaps, knowing that, that’s why The Emmys have Andy Samberg set to oversee the evening’s ceremonies for 2015.

On Sept. 20th, The Emmys will air their telecast on Fox with Andy Samberg as the host. Given how Samberg like to play with the form of things like in his anti-roast at The Roast of James Franco, there should be plenty of bits and pranks through the whole show.

We can only wonder what his opening monologue will be like or if he will do an anti-monologue monologue.

Periods. Films and the fantastic Drew Droege are developing a new comedy series that will have women be played by men and men played by women in three connected stories set in three different time periods.

Both Droege and Periods. Films do solid work, Chloe Sevigny/Hollywood Acting Studio and Break Up at a Wedding respectively, and will assuredly be doing the same here with this new series, The Genderton Project. They’re looking to crowdfund $15K by Mar. 22nd on Indiegogo and are at $4,960 as of this post.

Here they are with more details as to why you should support what could be a great and important show.

Also 2% of the funds raised in the campaign will go to The Human Rights Campaign.

You’ve enjoyed Nick Kroll in many a different costume on Kroll Show, but now you get to see him probably as grounded as he’ll get as someone who loses everything almost instantly in Adult Beginners.

The Duplass Brothers produced this movie from a story written by Kroll himself, which boasts a cast of of Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Joel McHale. So, that along with a bit of Skeleton Twins vibe has got our attention.

You can watch the trailer here and look for Adult Beginners in theaters and VOD on Apr. 24th.

John F. O’Donnell Shows How The Poorest President Gets By and Still Affects Change on “Redacted Tonight”

Did you know that, as a nation’s president, you could donate most of your income to charitable causes and be fine? The very funny John F. O’Donnell fills us all in about what the intentionally austere Uruguayan president is doing for Redacted Tonight.

If you can’t get enough of Last Week Tonight and are chomping at the bit between Sundays for a new episode, Redacted Tonight with Lee Camp might just be up your alley. They’re in the same spirit as The Daily Show and cover stories that are even more buried than the ones featured on most satirical news shows.

John F. O’Donnell’s report here is only the tip of the iceberg.

Some of you might know that comedians live lives that you would never guess based on their act and on stage persona.

Tom Segura experienced a great example of that when he met successful, veteran comedian Bruce Bruce and got completely blindsided. Seriously.

This is the latest story for This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir and we can’t stress enough how out-of-left-field this story is especially since it doesn’t involve drugs, alcohol, violence, etc.

The 2nd Ari Shaffir special to hit TV in 2015 will air tonight on Comedy Central. Earlier this year, there was Paid Regular and, tonight at midnight, there will be Passive Aggressive.

Actually, Passive Aggressive was first available on a site called Chill.com that existed awhile ago. However, they went under and released all the comedy specials, including Maria Bamford’s Special Special Special and Greg Proops’ Live at Musso and Frank Grill, to the comedians and, one by one, each special has found its way to distribution through various channels.

So, this previously lost special Passive Aggressive from Ari Shaffir finally gets uncovered tonight. (Also, both specials are now available at CC:Stand-Up Direct)
