Your browser does not support iframes.

A whole brand spankin’ new web video site known as Internet Action Force has just launched this week. The likes of John DeVore from Conan, Lea Palmieri, Carol Hartsell from HuffPoComedy, Nick Poppy from Comedy Central, and Sam Grittner have come together to bring a whole steady stream of great funny web videos.

Already, they’ve got a pretty good thing going with:

A Disgruntled Brother Helping his Sister Do a DIY Craft Web Series
Cosby Sweater Support Group
American Try Looking in the Mirror for The First Time
Explaining Your Tweets
Ad for OkCupid Being Free When Tinder Is Going to Start Charging
Apathetic Nerd
Ad for Internet Address Availability Service

In those videos, you’ll see that Internet Action Force works with a lot of other funny folks including Team Submarine, Subhah Agarwal, Anna Drezen, Robert Dean, Sabrina Jalees, and more.

So, spend some time getting to know Internet Action Force as they seem pretty cool.

Jon Benjamin on His British Accent and His Place on The “Essential Bears” List

H. Jon Benjamin is always full of surprises.

When on Conan this week, he revealed why he was nervous that he would have to trot out a British accent for an audition and a particular list of a certain type of bear that he’s proud to be on .

Perhaps, one day, some online streaming service will smartly revive Jon Benjamin Has a Van.

Garfunkel & Oates Canceled as IFC Show, But Will Continue You On

The unfortunate news that the TV series adaptation of the lives and music of Garfunkel and Oates (Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci) has come to an end at IFC after only one season.

However, Lindhome and Micucci will continue right on as Garfunkel and Oates as they tweeted out “Thank you for all the Twitter love. Sorry we won’t be bringing you any more IFC episodes but we have something exciting coming we promise…” as well as an Instagram of getting back to work and an upcoming date at The Venetian in Las Vegas.

While it’s sad to see them leave our TVs, we’re sure they’ll write a really funny, brilliant song about the whole experience.

As it turns out, Conan O’Brien had to “run and gun” a lot of the great bits and segments for the special Conan in Cuba episode.

So, to further explain the whole experience, Conan sat down with writers Jose Arroyo and Jessie Gaskell as well as Aaron Bleyaert at Team Coco’s digital arm and getting punched by Conan in the Clueless Gamer series to talk how they managed to pull of the feat of going to Cuba and making the special as great as it was.

Bill Hicks Special “Relentless” To Get Theatrical Release

To kick-off the big re-release of the entire Bill Hicks catalog, Comedy Dynamics is set for a theatrical run of Bill Hicks’ Relentless.

On Apr. 27th, Relentless will play in hundreds of theaters across the country, which will be nice to see as opposed to mere clips of the comedy special in various documentaries that have been made about Hicks over the last 20 years.

Seeing this special in theaters is probably now the closest you’d get to what it would be like watching him do stand-up at a club.

At the beginning of the year, we reported that the very funny Sean O’Connor and Ian Karmel were brought on board to write for the new Late Late Show hosted by James Corden.

As their premiere is less than a month away, they’ve filled the rest of their writing staff.

So, the writers of The Late Late Show with James Corden are:

Mike Gibbons who is the co-creator of Tosh.0
Sean O’Connor
Ian Karmel
James Davis who recently appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly
Lauren Greenberg
Ben Hoffman from The Ben Show
David Dineen-Porter (host of Party of Four podcast)
Nedaa Sweiss
DJ Javerbaum from The Daily Show

So, this bunch makes for a good, wide mix along with Corden and Reggie Watts that has us even more enticed for their debut.

“Last Week Tonight” Gave Us an Update on The Voting Rights of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa  (You Know, Those U.S. Territories)

March 9, 2015
Uncategorized

John Oliver and his team at Last Week Tonight showed us again what we’re missing.

The voting rights of U.S. territories that, for some reason, have not reached statehood despite considerable populations isn’t necessarily, at first glance, something that is ripe for a comedy show. Yet, Oliver curates plenty of funny moments to get this very niche topic that’s rarely been discussed to show why he’s going to be at HBO for a very long time.

Watch it here.

Jonah Ray Dance Battled a 1st Grader at “Baby Talk”

This really happened this weekend at Baby Talk @ Nerdmelt Showroom.

At the wonderful Nerdmelt Showroom, home to The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail. Jensen Karp and Dan Levy put on a show called Baby Talk where they interview comedians about their childhood and having children, then have an actual child talk to them as well as show off a talent.

This past weekend, the show had The Meltdown’s Jonah Ray as well as 1st grade child actor/break dancer Blayne Smith face off in a dance battle.

Watch Jonah take his turn dancing, which should make up for any leftover sluggishness from daylight savings time.

Michael K. Williams To Star in The Spoils of Babylon Follow-Up “The Spoils Before Dying” at IFC

Yes, it’s the Michael Kenneth Williams that played Omar on The Wire.

Following Tobey Maguire’s Devon Morehouse on IFC mini-series The Spoils of Babylon, Michael K. Williams will star in the upcoming iteration of “Spoils” written by “literary figure” Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell).

The follow-up will be called The Spoils Before Dying and Williams will play a jazz pianist in the Los Angeles of yesteryear that gets caught up in a web of deceit and lies in which he tries to clear his name.

We’re pretty sure Ferrell in a giant hat and a beard, Williams, and a beautifully and intentionally overwrought faux-dramatic mini-series is a winning combination.

For The Simpsons alone, he’ll be remembered forever and yet, he did so much more in and outside of comedy.

Sam Simon, the co-creator of The Simpsons, winner of 9 Primetime Emmys, writer/producer on It’s Garry Shandling Show, co-creator of The George Carlin Show, and so much more passed away today at the age of 59 after a long battle with colon cancer.

Not that you ever need a reason to watch The Simpsons catalog, but make sure to remember Simon fondly every time you see his name at the end of the couch gag.

Louis C.K. Takes Someone To Bow at a Broadway Play, Sarah Silverman Confronts Auction Winners as Her Parents, and Plenty Of Night of Too Many Stars Prizes Still Up For Grabs

Last night’s Night of Too Many Stars on Comedy Central was one wild, raucous, probably NSFW ride all in support of autism programs.

Such things as Louis C.K. taking an auction winner to take a bow at a Broadway play they weren’t in and Sarah Silverman confronting other auction winners like she would confront her parents all really happened.

Though the special is over, you can still support the charity via donation here or through entering into contests to win tickets to the last taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, tickets to The Roast of Justin Beiber, having a Vine video directed by Judd Apatow, be drawn into The Simpsons, or have a White Castle slider named after you.

If you were honest with yourself, you’d probably just pay and enter these contests without supporting any charity, so get on donating/entering now.

Remember when Aziz Ansari reportedly got a $3.5 million advance for a book on modern relationships? We’re pretty sure that book is called Modern Romance and will be coming out June 16th.

Ansari mounted a year long investigation with a NYU sociologist, hundreds of interviews, focus groups, etc. in order to dissect what the quest for love in the 21st century is really like.

All of that research went into this book Modern Romance through Aziz’s lens and if it’s anything like the bits about love, dating, and relationships that he’s done recently, we think he might be onto something.

It doesn’t come out until the summer, but you can pre-order Modern Romance now.

Here’s a New Trailer For Disney Pixar’s “Inside Out” To Brighten Your Day

Disney Pixar’s latest Inside Out, which features Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith as the voice of adorably anthropomorphized emotions got a new trailer today.

From the looks of it, it looks like this will be another home run with the creative and cleverly imagined world and fully realized, charming non-human characters. Also, it’s almost too perfect that Poehler is the voice of Joy.

Inside Out is set for a Jun. 19th release.

While there was no “walk-off”, Derek Zoolander and Hansel strutted down the runway for Valentino in Paris last night. It was the perfect primer to announce that Zoolander 2 will be coming to theaters for Valentine’s Day weekend, Feb. 12th, 2016.

If you have further doubts and/or haven’t checked any of your other news feeds today, here’s video footage of Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in their Zoolander trademark Blue Steel and flowing golden locks

We can only hope that Zoolander 2 outdoes the movie that was released on Valentine’s Day weekend this year, Fifty Shades of Grey.

We were glad a few years ago when Hampton Yount traded coasts and came to LA. You’ll be able to find out why in his latest album “Bearable” released today from the good folks at AST Records.

Ever since he set foot in the city limits, he’s been killing it at any and all stages with his honed blend of sharp, silly, and biting humor. Rarely are there bits on human sacrifice that hit those marks, but Yount pulls that off and then some.

So, get Bearable now.

Hannibal Buress Gets Series Order For Topical Show “Why?” From Comedy Central

(via Deadline)

Unlike the time when Hannibal Buress really jumped the gun and announced that Comedy Central picked up his series on Twitter in an attempt to perhaps visualize his goals, Hannibal has really gotten an official series order where he basically gets to talk about and do what he wants.

Comedy Central has ordered 8 episodes of Why? which will feature Buress talking about the burning issues of the day, the ones he cares about anyway, and feature pre-taped segments, man-on-the-street bits, etc.

It sounds a little bit like Chapelle’s Show, but with Hannibal leading the way, we have no problem with that whatsoever and look forward to the premiere.

W. Kamau Bell To Host a New CNN Show “United Shades of America”

W. Kamau Bell is finally returning to TV to do what he was doing before he was on TV: touring the country to talk to the people, wherever they may be, about the issues that are affecting them all under the umbrella of comedy.

CNN has announced their upcoming programming slate and on it is United Shades of America that will be hosted by W. Kamau Bell. Bell will go far and wide across the land and get into whatever subcultures he can. This is sort of what Kamau was doing on his Laughter Against the Machine tour before he got to host the far-too-short-lived Totally Biased at FX/FXx.

For once, it’ll be nice to see a show on CNN probably not end up on The Daily Show to be poked fun at.

3rd Jerrod Carmichael Pilot at NBC Gets Series Order

March 11, 2015
Uncategorized

(via Deadline)

Over the last couple of years, NBC has ordered three separate pilots from Jerrod Carmichael, making it obvious that they want a series with his face on it. Well, the third time is really the charm in this case as they finally put they’re money down on this latest pilot.

What will be interesting to see here is that this is yet another multicam sitcom based on the life and stand-up of a comedian.

If you’ve ever seen Jerrod Carmichael’s act, we certainly want that to mean that the multicam format is getting a much needed update and edge.

The series has six episodes ordered to sort all of that out.
