Fox Adds Funny or Die Exec Conor Welch as VP of Comedy
With Kevin Reilly out, Fox is having to switching up their ranks quite a bit. Namely, Conor Welch will be joining Fox as their VP of Comedy after serving as an executive at Funny or Die and working at Ben Stiller‘s Red Hour.
Given how Fox tried to bring an Adult Swim/Funny or Die sensibility with Fox ADHD, we hope that Welch will continue to be in that ball park.

The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail Premieres Next Month on Comedy Central
Starting Wed. July 23rd at 12:30AM (that’s Wed. night/Thurs. morning), The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail will make its series premiere on Comedy Central.
Episodes will air every Wed. until Sept. 17th. So, that means, if you live in LA, you can go watch The Meltdown live, go home, and then watch Meltdown, the TV show.
Also, that’s a great two hour block that Comedy Central will now have on Wed. nights for a few months with The Daily Show, Colbert Report, “@midnight”, and now The Meltdown.
Bryan Cranston Adapting ‘Dangerous Book for Boys’ as a Comedy Series for TV
In addition to producing a web series at Crackle, Bryan Cranston is furthering his role behind-the-scenes with adapting Conn and Hal Iggulden’s The Dangerous Book for Boys as a comedy series, hopefully for TV. Based off the book, the series would follow three boys trying to raise themselves imaginatively without a father.
So, this might be somewhere, tangentially, in the realm The Kings of Summer or Moonrise Kingdom with Cranston at the helm. So, we’re on board.
The newest correspondent of The Daily Show, Michael Che, made his debut last night and it was so good that Aasif Mandvi, mid-segment, had a thing or two to say about it.
Ghostbusters Getting Theatrical Re-Release in August
Aug. 29th will see the re-release of a remastered Ghostbusters over 700 theaters.
RIP Harold Ramis and make sure you go to see a comedy classic in theaters.
Perhaps, only in America can a satirical news program outdo actual news programs in terms of their educational value. Stephen Colbert certainly has made that a true statement on The Colbert Report, and, with that in mind, is going to “try to be less informative and helpful” to the American public, just like every other news organization.

Todd Glass wants to get to the bottom of this fixation of the past or, rather, living “back in the day” as if it was somehow better than the present. So, he asked people on the street their opinion and, if they opted for “back in the day” as a better time period, he revealed some surprising facts about how bad it was in the past to see if they would change their mind.

Many of you very well know the alumni of Groundlings. From Laraine Newman to Kristen Wiig to Paul Reubens to Lisa Kudrow to Will Forte to Jim Rash to so many more. Vanity Fair’s curated a nice collection of their stories from their time there spanning a good deal of The Groundlings history.
Nick Turner is now one damn funny comedian who has done both Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Kellan Lutz and Malin Akerman Will Reprise Roles in HBO’s The Comeback
Already, it’s great news that we’ll get to see Lisa Kudrow once again as Valerie Cherish as HBO is reviving The Comeback for a limited run this year.
Now, Kellan Lutz and Malin Akerman will also be returning in their roles on the show to make this all to perfect, given the show’s name.
Sketch group Hush Money makes an interesting hypothesis with their sketch Correspondence Fight. If people in relationships from centuries past knew the sort of sarcastic, passive aggressive language we use so frequently today, they would have opted for that over their verbose prose.
Whether or not that’s true, which would be impossible to verify without a time machine, it makes for a pretty funny sketch.
