Watch Bill Murray as a Tour Manager Lost in Afghanistan in Trailer For “Rock The Kasbah”

While you’re curiosity might be still aflutter as to what Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola have cooked up for A Very Murray Christmas, you’ll have another Murray vehicle to look forward this year in the Barry Levinson directed/Mitch Glazer written Rock The Kasbah.

Murray plays a tour manager that loses one American act while touring in Afghanistan who has to make a star out of an Afghan girl on their version of American Idol. Maybe she’ll end up singing the famous Clash song?

We’re on board for that.

Watch the trailer here and look for its release on Oct. 23rd.

Marc Maron Might Have Solved The Mystery of California’s Drought

Rather than rising temperatures leaving less rainfall, Marc Maron might be on to something else that is behind the severe droughts in California that we all might be all a little ashamed to admit.

He confided his “discovery” to us all on Conan this week.

Perhaps, after, we can all be “masters of our domain” and conserve all the water we need here in California.

Co-founders of the LA Podcast Festival, Chris Mancini and Graham Elwood have been put years into making Earbuds, a documentary about the ever burgeoning world of podcasting. They’ve captured how expansive and wonderfully crazy podcasters have gotten over the years as well as interviews with Marc Maron, Chris Hardwick, Jimmy Pardo, Aisha Tyler, Wil Anderson, and way more.

Adam Scott, Taylor Schilling, Jason Schwartzman, and Judith Godreche having a parents night to remember in The Overnight likes already enticing enough. The red band trailer will definitely entice you more to watch it when it comes out next week on Jun. 19th.

Looks like Ted 2 won’t be the only R-rated comedy to watch for this Summer.

Jerry Seinfeld Tells Seth Meyers He Wants a Little Less Political Correctness and Set Up in Talk Show Interviews

June 10, 2015
Uncategorized
jerry seinfeld, late night, political correctness, pre interviews, seth meyers

On last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jerry Seinfeld wasted no time in getting to pulling back the curtain on how talk show interviews are set up and his subsequent distaste for pre-interviews/artificial conversation.

He does give props to Meyers for not having notes visible on his desk.

Then, he moved on to commenting on political correctness and how he has found that it has gone too far .

Jerry makes solid points on both counts and will inevitably have people/the Internet endlessly debate and further entrench themselves in whatever side they take.

Whether you agree or disagree, it won’t keep from Jerry from joking about what he wants and avoiding talking to producers before he goes on late night talks shows.

Showtime Orders 5th Season of “Episodes”

(via Deadline)

Here’s more proof that Episodes has been flying quietly and delightfully under the radar.

Though cable comedies like Louie and Girls get way more press, Episodes on Showtime has also found its way to a fifth season. They’ve manage to do a Hollywood biz comedy starring Matt LeBlanc a la Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Comeback without imitating and coming at it from a different angle.

Look for nine episodes of Episodes in this next season and boost in its profile, probably, when Showtime launches its standalone streaming service.

If you’ve never watched Drunk Driving with Brad Gage, it’s kind of like Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee minus luxurious cars and coffee and/or breakfast/lunch plus comedians being very inebriated going home and sometimes picking up a drive-thru treat on the way.

This latest episode with Ryan Singer perfectly illustrates all of that. Watch it here.

For years, he’s come up with rhymes so clever that he’s done entire songs analyzing a single rhyme in another rap song.

Now he’s just released his second album (his first one as Zach Sherwin instead of his former alias MC Mr. Napkins) Rap! from AST Records and you can and should pick it up here.

More Psychics Should Take Cues From Reggie Watts Being a Psychic on “The Late Late Show”

On last night’s Late Late Show with James Corden, bandleader Reggie Watts switched hats to be a psychic for random audience members.

With a full band and singing his predictions, you’d probably not care that your psychic reading included a bunch of generalizations and guessing. Hopefully, your next psychic reading will be so musical and enthralling.

Tom Shillue To Host Fox News Channel’s “Red Eye”

(via Variety)

For those of you watching TV when late night turns into early morning, be delightfully surprised to know that Tom Shillue will take over what used to be Greg Gutfeld’s job at Fox News.

Red Eye is a 3AM panel debate show on Fox News that’s supposed to have a comedic bent (Scott Aukerman even got into the mix on an episode) and has been hosted by TV personality Gutfeld.

Now, as Greg Gutfeld has his own show, The Greg Gutfeld Show on Fox News, the powers that be at the network have gotten veteran comedian and storyteller Tom Shillue to host Red Eye, which should be much more palatable to a wider range of folks so long as there up at 3AM or there will be easy to find clips on YouTube.

We’ll all get to see Shillue start the gig sometime this month.

Jerry Minor has had an extensive comedy career from the legendary Mr. Show all the way to a comedy about shared offices, Sharing, that might surprise you after watching this chat he has with Paul F. Tompkins on Speakeasy.

Also, they fascinatingly touch a dab on male privilege via the perspective of male characters in comedy.

Watch the whole, as always, nice, long chat with classy drinks here.

Danny McBride and Jody Hill Are At It Again With “Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter”

They’ve teamed up for Foot Fist Way, Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals, and now, this.

Jody Hill and Danny McBride, the minds and talent behind the man myth that is Kenny Powers are collaborating yet again on a new feature project along with Josh Brolin attached and Scott Rudin producing. Other than those details and that Hill is directing and co-wrote the script with McBride and frequent collaborator John Carcieri, we only know that this project will be called Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter.

Our guess would be that it might be in the realm of Talladega Nights and Eastbound, but focusing on McBride as a hilariously foul-mouthed bad-ass hunter trying to cement his hunting legacy.

Hopefully, we’ll find out the exact details soon.

Apparently, Paulilu and the Molyneux sisters are writing different versions of the same movie.

Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux have gotten Sony to buy their pitch for the female led version 21 Jump Street. Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello were already working on a script, but now the two pairs will be writing different scripts based on the pitches they sold.

There are no other details than that available at this time, but we wouldn’t be surprised if either movie is made, then the script for the other gets released online and people demand to see that one also get made.

You didn’t read that wrong. Two people nuzzle something while blindfolded to see who can guess what it is first.

Not only were the things that Corden, Offerman, Kemper, and Middleditch were nuzzling fun and definitely not for the very easily squeamish, but Reggie Watts got to act as the very serious referee as well for Nuzzle Waaa?.

This definitely raises the stakes as far as late night talk show games go.

Titmouse Animation Is Making a “Three Stooges” Animated Series

While you might have been let down by the recent feature adaptations, Titmouse Animation might be the ones to put your faith back in the classic comedy institution that is The Three Stooges.

The animation studio that brings you many of Adult Swim’s cartoons including China, IL, The Venture Bros., Superjail!, and Metalocalypse will be taking a crack at The Three Stooges and, we think, will probably translate them for modern audiences quite well.

They’ll be making 52 eleven minute episodes, so there will be plenty to binge watch when they get released.
