During Colbert Interview, T.J. Miller Showed That We’re Going to Get One Hell of a Show at The Critics Choice Awards

January 15, 2016
Uncategorized

The main thing that you can be sure with T.J. Miller is at the helm of a show is that you’ll see something that will defy logic in a complex and layered way and also make you double over laughing at the same time.

His latest appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is proof of that and we’re hoping the same sort of wave of delightful abandon will be ridden by Miller throughout The Critics Choice Awards this Sunday.

If you’ve been waiting for comedy folks to delve into true stories of murder or a further exploration of music sub genres that pretty much no one has ever heard before because of they’ve probably just been “discovered”, Feral Audio has two new podcasts for you.

With all the fascination with The Jinx, Making a Murderer, and Serial, you might be interested into diving into more true murder stories from the perspectives of the great Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark with My Favorite Murder.

Feral Audio has also got the trio behind Yacht Rock to “talk about music other than Yacht Rock” with Beyond Yacht Rock. We can only imagine how far down the arbitrary music genre rabbit hole they’ll go.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is in a rare class of television program that can post a promo for the show that features nothing but shade thrown at the show’s host and only make the show seem only more charming. Take note who is the pull quotes are from (cough cough Trump).

We can’t wait for Last Week Tonight’s return on Sun. Feb. 14th at 11PM on HBO.

It’s probably been awhile since you’ve felt this must frustration during an election year.

So, comedian Dave Ross has made a campaign that expertly taps into that collective frustration as well as accounting for millennials being able to vote:

IDK Not Trump Tho 2016

You can get a sign, shirt, or bumper sticker that gets behind a campaign that isn’t so much backing a candidate as hoping we all avoid Trump.

If you want to catch it on the big screen, here are the theaters Band of Robbers will be screening at starting tomorrow:

Netflix’s latest comedy series order just goes to show you how they’re going to try to have someone for everyone, no matter how niche or broad your taste is.

YouTube star Miranda Sings, who many might remember from her memorable appearance on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, is getting her own Netflix series called Haters Back Off!

Perhaps, Netflix will be the network to finally figure out how to translate YouTube stars into the medium of TV since they’re both born out of the Internet.

3. The My Little Pony expanded universe

Just like a Patton bit from an album or special, they’re worth repeat watches and listens.

Again, Rick and Morty season 3 has yet to have any premiere date announced so we can figure out what we have to do to kill time in between now and then.

However, one of those things could be getting a free Rick and Morty game that is not unlike Pokemon called Pocket Mortys.

It might not kill all the time between this moment and the premiere of season 3, but you could always just rewatch the first two season of Rick and Morty.

Pocket Mortys is available now both on iTunes or Android.

Oh, we should mention that Sam Rockwell, Jeffrey Tambor, and Steve Coogan are the starring voice talents.

In addition to that, the movie will also feature the likes of Dave Attell, Tyler The Creator, Abby Elliott, John Leguizamo, Jon Glaser, Jay Pharoah, Noel Wells, and James Adomian amongst others and comes from the bonkers (in a good way) animation studio that brought you Wonder Showzen, Augenblick Studios.

All of those elements plugged into a story that has God, the Devil, and a drunk betting for the fate of the planet and all those living on it has us on board.

Nerdist’s Latest Podcast “Will You Accept This Rose?” Forces Eddie Pepitone to Watch and Discuss The Bachelor with Arden Myrin and Erin Foley

Could this companion possibly could be more compelling than The Bachelor itself?

Beloved firebrand of a comedian, The Bitter Buddha, Eddie Pepitone has joined in on a new show companion podcast Will You Accept This Rose? where Arden Myrin and Erin Foley, Bachelor superfan and historian respectively and also comedians, discuss (you probably guessed it) the latest happenings on The Bachelor.

Take note, Eddie has never been into The Bachelor as he is listed in the show description as “reluctant Bachelor novice” and will be the stark contrast that should make this podcast transcend above just being a companion podcast or even the manufactured reality of this show’s source material.

Get into Will You Accept This Rose? here.

So, it’ll be Fallon and Meyers to at least 2021 on NBC’s late night block.

Jimmy Fallon has already got reupped to host The Tonight Show until 2021 and, as announced at the TCA Press Winter Tour, Seth Meyers who follows him as host of Late Night will stick with him in the 12:35AM slot for the next five years.

Above all else, this move still keeps it all of NBC’s late night fare in the Lorne Michaels-SNL family well into the future.

Keegan-Michael Key and Lena Dunham Added to Sundance Juries

In a film world that still mostly celebrates weighty dramas, Sundance still gives some much needed love to comedy.

The revered Sundance Film Festival is one of the few places in critically acclaimed cinema where comedy gets its fair shake. If you take a look at film festivals and awards show the world over, mostly dramas dominate the line-ups and the fields of nominees.

However, indie comedies seem to really find their way en masse to Sundance and having Keegan Michael-Key and Lena Dunham added to the jury is even more of a reflection of comedy’s presence at the festival.

This makes the jury prizes for this year all the more intriguing.

Please Enjoy Paul F. Tompkins, Busdriver, Puddles Pity Party, Kristen Schaal, and Maria Bamford Cover David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”

Really, this performance of Space Oddity at Paul F. Tompkins’ Varietopia nearly 2 years ago is just perfect for today. Equal parts great in execution and fun for the wide range of performers on stage, it’s something you should probably just watch and listen to over and over for awhile.

RIP David Bowie.
