10:30PM on TBS, Samantha Bee and the gang at Full Frontal are getting back to their important, comedic, holding-feet-to-fire work for season two of the show.

Yep, Bee has blazed a trail so bright that it might come as a surprise that she is only on her second season.

So much happened during Trump’s press conference today, we wonder how much of it they will have time to address given all that has happened with Trump since their hiatus a few weeks ago.

Trailer for Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here Promises a Dive Into the Crazy World That Was the 70′s LA Comedy Scene

Sure, comedy in LA is in a current golden age/boom right now of the likes that has never been seen before.

However, the 1970s were a much crazier, drug-fueled time for comedy in LA and Showtime’s newest series, I’m Dying Up Here, looks to get into the nitty gritty of it all at that time.

The trailer just dropped and you can get a bit of a taste of what it was like at that time as well as enjoying seeing some comedians from now like Al Madrigal, Erik Griffin, Andrew Santino, and Jon Daly in crazy hair and get ups.

If you’re all on board for this, catch the series premiere of I’m Dying Up Here on Sunday, June 4th at 10PM on Showtime.

Deadpool Nominated for Producers Guild of America Award

Deadpool continues collecting nominations this award season next to fare like Moonlight, Hacksaw Ridge, and La La Land that are almost antithetical to Deadpool.

Producers Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds, and Lauren Shuler Donner should be proud of producing what might be the most critically acclaimed R-Rated action comedy of all time.

The PGA Awards’ ceremony will be on Saturday, January 28th. The whole list of nominees can be found here.

Here’s the Trailer for the Final Season of Girls

Both Girls and Lena Dunham have come a very long way in socio-political significance. Its stamp on pop culture, whether you love or hate the show (or watch a myriad of other TV series in this 21st Century Golden Age of Television), is pretty undeniable.

The sixth and final season of Girls is about to kick off in a year where visibility for women in media will be as important as it has ever been.

The trailer just dropped and seems to offer the set up for what will be some satisfying closure to the show and its characters. Maybe, that will make for an unforgettable send off of Girls?

We’ll see if that happens when the final season premieres on February 12th at Sunday, 10PM on HBO.

Woody Harrelson Will Be Doing a Feature Length Live Film About His London Arrest and Broadcast It Into Theaters

January 9, 2017

Almost 15 years ago, Woody Harrelson had an incident in a taxi in London that ended up getting him arrested.

Now, based on that very incident, Harrelson wants to make some cinema history.

Woody Harrelson wrote a feature length film about the incident, which is called Lost in London. Apparently, he will be performing the film live with Owen Wilson and Willie Nelson. As technology is in a much different place than it was in 2002, this live performance can be captured as a film ostensibly done in “one take” and broadcast into theaters as it is happening.

You didn’t read that wrong.

Woody Harrelson will essentially be doing a one-take film live and live streaming it into a movie theater near you.

Live streaming performances into theaters has existed for years now, but only for events such as Opera at the Met or Rifftrax. Something as ambitious as Lost in London could be breaking new ground for cinema, broadcast, comedy, live performance, performance art, etc.

Woody explains the details in this trailer and claims that it might great or a disaster, but definitely worth watching. We concur with this assessment.

Lost in London LIVE is set to happen next week on Thursday, January 19th, 2017. You can get your tickets via Fathom Events here.

Atlanta Is the Big Comedy Winner at Golden Globes

For the most part, the lumping of musicals with comedy gave way to the rightfully beloved La La Land sweeping up several awards at last night’s Golden Globes.

Still, Donald Glover’s dramedy set in the back-drop of Atlanta’s hip hop scene Atlanta took home Best Musical or Comedy TV series as well as a statue for Glover himself. In case you forgot, Atlanta is only on its freshman season.

FX has been really on a streak this year and is standing toe-to-toe with premium cable and streaming networks in critical acclaim. We’ll just have to see what the rest of the awards season brings.

The rest of the comedy winners for The Golden Globes this year are:

Atlanta-Best Musical or Comedy TV Series
Donald Glover, Atlanta-Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series
Tracee Ellis Ross, black-ish-Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series
Zootopia-Best Animated Feature Film

The full list of winners can be found here.

The CW Renews Crazy-Ex Girlfriend for 3rd Season and Jane The Virgin for 4th

CW is staying the course with their two comedy series that have garnered them critical acclaim and kept them from just being a network of DC Comics adaptations. That makes sense to us.

These renewals have thankfully come early and have prompted this Rachel Bloom tweet that we love, “BEHOLD ME, FOR I AM IMMORTAL AND WILL NEVER DIE #CrazyExGirlfriend”.

‘Archer’ Moving to FXx for Season 8 and Beyond, Sets New Direction for FXx

Archer will be moving to FXx where it will hopefully live on successfully like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has. With it being the 8th season, that’ll probably happen. More interestingly, FX head John Landgraf wants this move to signal a move towards animation for the FXx network.

Well, after all these years, it would seem that the divide between FX and FXx will come in at being live action (and series that get heavy awards consideration) on FX and animation and more pure comedy on FXx.

We’ll be curious to see where FX will take this move, especially since adult-skewing animated comedy is more crowded than it has ever been.

AMC’s Latest Comedy Might Be About a 90’s Pyramid Scheme Starring Kirsten Dunst

AMC has always bumped up against the edge of dark comedy with all of their critically acclaimed series, but have yet to launch a property that is a comedy before it’s a drama.

Having Yorgos Lanthimos, the man behind the brilliant “The Lobster” from last year, attached as a director and EP with backing from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures might be that very comedy that AMC is looking for.

A 90’s pyramid scheme set in Florida called “On Becoming a God in Central Florida” certainly fits AMC’s brand.
