Pick of the Day: The Raggle Taggle Dance Hour with Kat Burns (in LA) 11/17

November 16, 2022
News
alana johnston, bonnie mckee, jackie johnson, kat burns, katie malia, los angeles comedy, tony rodriguez, ucb

Though many comedians are stricken with two left feet, there are a good many comedy folks that can bust a move. Few such people are as accomplished as the critically acclaimed/award winning comedy/dance choreographer Kat Burns (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Key & Peele, and Wet Hot American Summer to just name a few).

Burns started to put on a dance comedy showcase at UCB just before lockdown called The Raggle Taggle Dance Hour and it was one of the more astounding things we’ve seen as it ranged from top tier dancing of all kinds, but done with a comedic flair that you pretty much never get a live comedy show (especially since we’re thousands of miles away from Broadway).

The first Raggle Taggle Dance Hour with Kat Burns since UCB went dark because of COVID-19 is this Thurs. Nov. 17th at 8:30PM and you really ought to not miss it (tickets are still available at $15 a pop). Joining Burns as the Raggle Taggalongs will be Alana Johnston, Smac, Katie Malia, Tony Rodriguez, Kent Boyd, Jackie Johnson, Vladislav Kvartin, Bonnie McKee, Gabrielle Ruiz, Scott Michael Foster, Annie Lester, Liv Mai, Joshua Parker Joseph Corella, Kent Boyd, Shea Saulino, and Brandon O’Neil as well as Coincidance, a musical improv team comprised of Philip Labes, Greg Smith, Elli Sherrer, Taryn Leggett, and Daryl Jim Diaz.

So, clear your scheduled for tomorrow and go get your tickets now.

We talk to Ariel about that whole amazing blaze of a journey and where she is now for this week’s TCB Field Report.

Also, actually hot takes on Grammy comedy noms, Chappelle on SNL, and more.

Pick of the Day: Everything Everywhere All at Once, with directors Daniels (in LA) 12/6

November 15, 2022
News
daniels, everything everywhere all at once, hammer museum

Last year, we were all graced with the brilliant sci-fi, mind bending, genre defying, multiversal comedy known as Everything Everywhere All At Once from the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert). It’s truly a testament to the power of originality and that there is still hope out there for comedy reaching both audiences far and wide and being a critical darling, worthy of all the awards.

Simply put, it’s one of the best movies of the 21st century even though we’re barely through a fifth of it.

With that in mind, you might want to catch a very special, exclusive screening of Everything Everywhere All At Once next month at the Hammer Museum in West LA where both Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert will be in person having a conversation about their landmark film.

This must-see screening is set for Tues. Dec. 6th at 7:30PM and tickets are only $20. This will be worth not being able to use your AMC A-List subscription. Go get tickets here now while you still can.

Here’s Your First Look at Atsuko Okatsuka’s First HBO Hour Special “The Intruder”

November 15, 2022
News
atsuko okatsuka, comedy special, hbo, stand up comedy

Wherever Atsuko Okatsuka goes, she is a very joyful, very stylish breath of fresh air on top of being one of the funniest comedians taking the mic these days. Okatsuka is finally getting her due this year from being such a performer with the debut of a whole hour long HBO special entitled “The Intruder”.

At the risk of tipping off too much, especially if you haven’t seen Atsuko before, we will just say that her story of immigrating to America is one of the most fascinating ones we’ve heard in comedy (and, of course, so very timely). The journey, the self-styled vibrant aesthetic, the moves, and the carefully honed observations and stories of a former undocumented immigrant turned dancer turned comedian, as you’ll see, should leave an indelible mark on this year’s comedy special landscape.

See for yourself with this first look at Atsuko Okatsuka: The Intruder here, then look to stream it on HBO Max on Sun. Dec. 10th.

Get Your First Glimpse of “Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas”, The Showtime Special

November 14, 2022
News
have you heard of christmas, matt rogers, showtime, trailer

Even though Turkey Day is just over a week away, plenty of folks, especially if you’re any sort of drug store, is already looking towards Christmas (mostly because Thanksgiving decorations aren’t really a popular thing/who buys cornucopias these days?).

With that in mind, one of the best Christmas comedy specials that will be coming, in a very crowded field of new holiday themed specials and movies, is, without a doubt, Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas? Rogers’ long-standing annual tradition of a snappy, subversive Christmas musical revue got wisely made into a special (with a bit of a narrative arc) by Showtime and you’re only going to have to wait until Dec. 2nd to be able to stream it on Showtime.

If you have been unfortunate to be able to get a ticket to Have You Heard of Christmas over the years because Matt sells those shows out whenever he does it, you can finally catch your first glimpse with the trailer for Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Chistmas? Get into the holiday spirit the right way by watching it here.

James Acaster Has a Perfect Late Night Interview on Seth Meyers

November 14, 2022
News
james acaster, late night, seth meyers

These days, the niche art of being an amazing guest on a late night talk show, a format that’s going through its own growing pains as a whole, seems all but lost. Most hosts doing the heavy lifting for folks that are there to promote something that you have already seen an ad for on YouTube or numerous billboards around wherever you live.

That said, there are usually a handful of late night interviews that recall some golden times of late night where people actually looked forward to staying up late to watch what tomfoolery folks were going to get into with Carson or Letterman (in the earlier years). UK comedian James Acaster‘s latest appearance on Seth Meyers is one such interview as he came in as succinctly silly as he could possibly be (and he didn’t even have a planned bit, which seems to be a go-to move for comedians doing panel interview these days). At every possible moment, James opted for the best comedic choice, almost as if he was playing Talk Show: The Game Show with Guy Branum.

Go see James’ lovely, hysterical interview on last week’s Late night with Seth Meyers here

Pick of the Day: Bad Play (in LA) 12/3 & 12/10

November 14, 2022
News
bad play, brad beideman, brian fitzgerald, eli lutsky, experimental comedy, los angeles, los angeles comedy, lyndsey kempf

It has always struck us as strange that theatrical comedy, comedy stage plays, etc. seem to be distinctly separated from the rest of live comedy (stand-up, improv, sketch, clowning, etc.). The whole goal is to make the audience laugh for a period of time and yet, very rarely does a full length comedic play find its way to the likes of a comedy theater.

Thankfully, that seems to be changing as many comedy folks are coming out of the pandemic wanting to try all sorts of different things in comedy. Enter in Bad Play, a very sarcastic “love letter” to American theater that’s every bit of sharp as sketch comedy, but being so for the entirety of a full play. The cast and writers Brad Beideman, Brian Fitzgerald, Lyndsey Kempf, Eli Lutsky do a brilliant job playing up tropes and themes of so many productions that carry their own Playbill and you don’t have to have a subscription to the Pantages to have gotten all of the jokes.

Perhaps, this will end up being the bridge between all these different disciplines in comedy that we’ve been quietly hoping for? Bad Play is certainly funny enough to take on the task.

It’s unabashedly absurd fun and you really ought to not miss such a rare gem playing its next two engagements at the Yard Theater next month, Saturday Dec. 3rd and Dec. 10th at 9PM. Tickets are $10 and we highly suggest you snag them right now right here.

Chris Rock To Do First Ever Live Netflix Special

November 11, 2022
News
chris rock, netflix

Leave it to both Chris Rock and Netflix to try something so bold as a stand-up comedy special done completely live like Saturday Night Live. The streaming giant announced that Rock will indeed be doing a live, globally available special in early 2023.

Essentially, it’ll be a live-streamed special, but we’re sure that Netflix will want to steer clear of that language given how virtual comedy during quarantine has brought a bit of stigma to what “live-stream comedy special” could conjure up for potential viewers. Not only will this be the largest scale live-streamed comedy event of its kind, but it’ll be a great barometer for the future of what stand-up specials could be as well as seeing if there’s a way to make you feel like your at the venue when you can’t be.

Nowhere Comedy and Caveat in NYC have live-streamed live comedy events over the last several months, but they haven’t the sort of tech and reach available to them that Ted Sarandos, CEO of Netflix, has. Details are sparse at this time, but we’re curious if there’s going to be an element of crowd work or interactivity between Chris and people who are watching the live-stream as opposed to be in the theater with Chris. Also, you got to know that this will be the special where Chris Rock talks about Will Smith slapping him at the Oscars.

Fingers crossed that Bo Burnham will be directing Rock’s special again and that this first ever live Netflix special will look as historic as it undoubtedly will end up being.

Please Enjoy the Trailer for “Leonor Will Never Die” a Meta Action Movie That Might Be More Meta Than Deadpool

November 11, 2022
News
leonor will never die, martika ramirez escobar, music box films, trailer

When it comes to Asian cinema, Americans are usually offered up works from South Korea, Japan, and China. You hopefully know that there are far more sovereign nations that have their very own cinema that is worth exploring.

Case in point: the upcoming release Leonor Will Never Die, written and directed by Martika Ramirez Escobar, from the Philippines. It’s a movie that follows the coma induced visions of a former working action movie screenwriter, which is already an intriguing story no matter where it came from. In fact, as claimed in the headline, that might very well be more meta and self-reflexive than everyone’s favorite meta-action-franchise, Deadpool.

In any case, the setting being Philippines and the movie being in Tagalog adds even more fascinating layers for what might be an indie film jewel from Ramirez Escobar. See for yourself in the trailer here, then look for Leonor Will Never Die in select theaters starting on Fri. Nov. 25th (Black Friday).

Pick of the Day: NATE by Natalie Palamides (in LA) 12/1-12/4

November 11, 2022
News
elysian, los angeles comedy, natalie palamides, nate, solo show

Perhaps you’ve gotten to see the brilliance of Natalie Palamides’ NATE via Netflix. If you haven’t, you might want to go do that right now and be awe struck at Palamides thrilling comedic dissection of toxic masculinity. OR, you could go see it live in person in 2022 at the Elysian Theater in just a couple weeks.

That’s right, Palamides’ award winning, critically acclaimed, star-turn making special is going to be put up for a special exclusive run at The Elysian on Dec. 1st, 3rd, and 4th (as a benefit for the theater). If you’re into anything experimental or you’re just a big comedy fan or if you’re wondering/hoping what sort of very good, very funny thing men need to see to have a figurative mirror shoved back at them in order for them to deal with their own reinforced bad behaviors, you really ought to not miss this.

Tickets are $25 and you need to go get them here because who knows when Natalie is going to be NATE again.

Pick of the Day: NYCF-Million Dollar Roasting 11/13

November 10, 2022
News
Devon Walker, hanna dickinson, Kerryn Feehan, Lil Frex, new york comedy festival, nycf, parody, the stand, zillow

The New York Comedy Festival is coming to a close this Sunday, but that leaves three days that are still absolutely jam packed with comedy that you absolutely shouldn’t miss across all of NYC.

In fact, on Sunday, at The Stand, we’d wager that you would very much get a kick out of some of the busiest and most booked of the NYC comedy scene (including one of SNL’s latest hires) roasting million dollar real estate. Called Million Dollar Roasting, Hanna Dickinson will lead Devon Walker, Kerryn Feehan, Lil Frex, and other special guests to go through Zillow listings that start at $10 million dollars. It can be hard to stick it to the 1%, but making fun of what sort of property they waste their money on can be a lot of fun.

Million Dollar Roasting is set for this Sun. Nov. 13th, the final day of NYCF, at 7PM at The Stand. Tickets are $25 and you can (and should) go get ’em here.

Hulu Renews This Fool for Season 2

November 10, 2022
News
chris estrada, frankie quiniones, hulu, this fool

As far as we’re concerned, This Fool will be one of 2022’s highlight shows, not only in the realm of comedy, but in all of TV (even as this current Golden Age of TV persists). Chris Estrada and Frankie Quinones are one of the small screen’s most dynamic duos this year (and the writing of Corporate team Matt Ingebretson, Jake Weisman, and Pat Bishop never fails to be a weird delight). So, we’re thankful that Hulu put all episodes on at the same time so we could binge through the whole first season to see how they would try to hilariously undermine each other while trying to keep a felon rehabilitation program alive (on top of watching a Michael Imperioli renaissance). Even beyond that, there’s so much of the shows humor that touches on class and mental health that is handled so sharply that there needs to be more episodes of This Fool ASAP.

Fortunately, Hulu feels the same way as they officially announced the season 2 pick up of This Fool today. This second season will be due out sometime in 2023. Though we don’t know the ballpark premiere date, we’re pretty sure it’ll all be worth whatever wait we have to go through for it.

Watch and Enjoy Kurt Braunohler Returning to Do Stand Up on The Tonight Show for 3rd Time

November 10, 2022
News
kurt braunohler, late night, stand up, tonight show

Stand up on late night has ticked a little closer to where it was 2019, but it’s still not a plethora of comedians that are showing off an incredibly tight 5, hoping to be called to the couch by Johnny Carson. That said, the lack of frequency makes performing on any late night show special in its own way and getting to return to the same show as a favorite to perform multiple times is even rarer accomplishment with the lack of slots going around.

So, Kurt Braunohler, fresh off the release of his latest special Perfectly Stupid, available at perfectlystupid.com, marks his 3rd set on The Tonight Show last night and delivered what we think is a classic Kurt set (some absurdly clever short jokes and examining the human condition through a ridiculous and hysterical story he went through with some perfectly chosen yelling).

Go see and enjoy it all for yourself here.

Pick of the Day: NYCF: Apocalypse Soon with Eddie Pepitone 11/12

November 9, 2022
News
caveat, eddie pepitone, new york comedy festival, nyc comedy

It should never be forgotten that Eddie Pepitone’s For The Masses was named as one of 2020’s best comedy specials, not only by us, but The NY Times. At such a low point, Pepitone’s humor is both the necessary medicine and sugar to help get through such a wildly dark time, probably unlike any that we’ve all collectively lived through in our lives.

Eddie has been that sort of comedian for decades now and, as such, should never be missed no matter what he’s up to, especially if he’s in town (like he is this week for The New York Comedy Festival). Specifically, Eddie will be doing a live taping of his podcast, Apocalypse Soon, at Caveat on Sat. Nov. 12th at 3PM. Tickets are $15 right now and $10 for a livestream.

As the fate of the US seems to hang in the balance of incoming election results, getting a ticket to see Eddie live right now will help. Do so here.

The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 137: Hasan Minhaj & The Mise En Scène of Comedy

News, The Comedy Bureau Field Report
comedy special, hasan minhaj, stand up comedy, the king's jester

The look and feel of a comedy special has been largely subtle, unadorned, and stripped down for a long time. Thankfully, that is starting to change thanks to folks like Bo Burnham and this week’s TCB Field Report guest, Hasan Minhaj. Fresh off the release of his latest, fantastic special The King’s Jester, we get into the finer points of how to redefine stand-up through reimagining how a special, arguably the pinnacle of a comedian’s work, can be done.

Pick of the Day: NYCF Album Tapings for Liz Glazer and Luke Mones 11/10 & 11/11

November 8, 2022
News
brooklyn, brooklyn comedy collective, liz glazer, luke mones, new york comedy fest, nyc comedy, nycf, stand up comedy, the gutter

The New York Comedy Festival is well underway right now and there is literally dozens and dozens of things worth dashing to and fro from between all five boroughs. Showcases, solo shows, podcasts, and more fill the entire schedule for NYC’s annual big comedy bash.

There are also hour long tapings that are done at the festival, capitalizing on the extra excitement in the air for the week, that are the sort of special thing that you don’t want to miss. Last year, David Cross taped his latest special and, this year, both Liz Glazer and Luke Mones will be taping their albums. Glazer and Mones have both worked their way to becoming favorites in the NYC comedy scene for their warmth and very keen and crisp writing.

Liz will be doing her taping at the Brooklyn Comedy Collective on Thurs. Nov. 10th at 7PM & 9PM and Luke will be doing his a nice jaunt from there at The Gutter in Brooklyn on Fri. Nov. 11th at 7:30PM & 9:30PM. You have two chances to catch both of them and we highly suggest that you don’t waste of any of them (especially since they don’t overlap).

Are We Seeing the End of Twitter (for Comedy)?

November 7, 2022
News
elon musk, op ed, twitter

Over ten years ago, Twitter used to be, amongst several other things, one place that comedians could build their own audience off the merits of their clever or unfiltered Twitter feeds. Rob Delaney and Megan Amram’s tweets ruled supreme and, from their massive followings on the microblogging platform, they launched their comedy careers. Additionally, supplementary platforms such as Witstream highlighted certain comedians and comedy writers and was a great way to see the best of the best live tweet anything from presidential debates to the Oscars.

Those days are long gone.

They’re so long gone that it feels like an eon ago from where Twitter is now with unhinged tech billionaire Elon Musk taking over after trying to get out of his initial deal to buy Twitter. The aggregate user base for Twitter seemingly keeps shrinking by the minute, trying to fire half the Twitter workforce has gone poorly, and the announcement for being verified for a $8/month Twitter subscription has spurned anger from nearly everyone on Twitter. Add in a spike in hate speech on the platform and you have several cans of fuel to add to the fire that is burning down what used to be the premier social media app.

As mentioned above, comedy’s relationship with Twitter used to be sacrosanct, but with the rise of Instagram and Tik Tok (and their unfortunate misfire with their livestream feature, Periscope), the platform had already fallen out of favor with comedians well before Musk’s chaotic takeover was conceived. When it comes to social media, many comics, these days, focus on captioning their stand-up on Tik Tok and Instagram Reels or trying to build a following with a uniquely focused podcast. Former Twitter stars Rob Delaney and Megan Amram have gone on to having very successful and decorated careers in writing and acting in television with Twitter being much less representative of their work.

This comedy/Twitter relationship has soured over the last 48 hours even more as Musk has stated that all impersonators will be permanently banned from Twitter if it isn’t clear parody. Changing your name on Twitter in order to satirize a brand or figure just happens to be a favorite pastime of comedians and many comedy folks are giving their farewell to Twitter by changing their profile name to none other than Elon Musk. It seems to be the last good thing to do on Twitter at this point? Kathy Griffin is the most high profile ban thus far, though comedian Griffin Newman has also seemed to be kicked off despite specifying parody when tweeting “as Musk”.

At the time of this post, there doesn’t seem to be any sort moves being made by Musk to curry favor with many of the types of people that helped build Twitter into what it once was. In fact, it would almost seem as though Elon is trying to implode Twitter after being forced to go through with a deal he wanted to back out on for all the havoc that has transpired in just the last week.

Social media already feels like a necessary evil for any sort of creative type, but especially so for comedians. With the chaos run rampant with Musk’s takeover any and all tweeting, Twitter seems destined to become a digital wasteland now. The presence of so many more social platforms that are better liked by comedic performers and audiences alike will only accelerate that demise, as far as we can see.

What we’re wondering now is how comics will try out jokes that would have tried on Twitter elsewhere? Posting text on IG Stories, actually reading jokes from a notebook on TikTok, trying that other other OTHER social media platform that vaguely resembles Twitter called Mastodon? From the look of things, we all won’t have to wait long to find out.

Pick of the Day: Without A Country: Live Midterm Election Watch-Along (in NYC) 11/8

November 7, 2022
News
corinne fisher, midterm elections, new york comedy festival, nyc comedy, nycf

First and foremost, if you haven’t voted yet, definitely go vote already.

After that, you’re probably a little on edge on how things are going to go and, thus, it might be helpful to see the returns and the results with live color commentary from a comedian.

The New York Comedy Festival has that very thing with Guys We F*cked’s very own Corinne Fisher doing an election watch-along featuring NYC staples Kate Willett and Robbie Bernstein. Rather than have a disconcerted inner dialogue with whatever is going to happen, leave it to some of NYC comedy finest to be the sugar for whatever medicine (or poison) we have to take.

Without A Country: Live Midterm Election Watch-Along with Corinne Fisher is set for tomorrow, Tues. Nov. 8th starting at 7PM at the Doped Up Comedy Club in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Tickets are $17.74 and you can (and should) go get them here.

Whitney Cummings Is Joining Only Fans Just for Dirty Jokes

November 4, 2022
News
only fans, whitney cummings

(via Variety)

Both Only Fans and comedians have tried to make the go-to independent, self-publishing adult content platform into a place beyond just nude photos and other such explicit material. However, this side of Only Fans hasn’t gotten so much traction as of yet.

That might all change with the arrival of Whitney Cummings and her new upcoming original show, Unfiltered Original Roast Series, due out next year. It’ll be a roasting showcase and Cummings is graciously offering herself up as the first roastee that a dais of Bob the Drag Queen, Jim Norton, Donnell Rawlings, Annie Lederman, Dan Levy, Robin Tran, and Luis J. Gomez will go to town on. To watch it, you’ll have to whip out $10/month for Only Fans’ exclusive streaming platform OFTV. We wouldn’t be surprised if that grants you access to many other things comedy and otherwise that are coming out on Only Fans down the line. Do note that Whitney Cummings won’t be publishing nudes on top of this (because you were wondering).

Given how many comedians put their hopes and prayers on self-producing a special, then releasing it on YouTube themselves will boost their profile for their upcoming road dates, it would be a curious thing to see Only Fans arise to fill a niche here. Sure, some channels on YouTube have been monetized, but you need to get so many thousands of subscribers to even make that happen. If comedy were to take off on Only Fans in a legitimate way, it could be a powerful tool to circumvent begging any of the big streamers or even some of the more fringe ones to buy your special and then get paid directly for all the labor that one would put into making a special/series/etc.

That said, let’s see how this first one goes in 2023 before a bunch of comedians that love trying to adopt everything early go all in on this.

Pick of the Day: TCB 12 Yr. Anniversary (in LA) 11/5

November 4, 2022
News
anniversary show, Best Actress, chris estrada, guy branum, ian karmel, little secret, los angeles comedy, max beasley, natalie palamides, Rachel Kaly Roz Hernandez, stand up

Just starting from not exactly where open mics where outside of the one coffee shop in Long Beach that we started at to being as central a hub for all the comedy info you need in LA and NYC as can be, 12 years of The Comedy Bureau has been almost indescribable (mostly because pretty much all the work at TCB rests on the back of Jake Kroeger and he doesn’t have that much time to think about 12 years of doing this when there are listings to update).

It seemed prudent that we should celebrate the occasion and we’re doing exactly that this Saturday, Nov. 5th at the ultra cool Little Secret in Hollywood with the brilliant comedic talents of Natalie Palamides, Chris Estrada, Best Actress, Guy Branum, Rachel Kaly Roz Hernandez, Max Beasley, Ian Karmel. Oh yeah, TCB’s very own Jake Kroeger will be taking a slight break from having 200 or more tabs open on his web browser to host the show.

Also, this is the perfect way to party out the end of Daylight Savings Time.

The show is at 8PM. Tickets are $12. Go get ’em here.

Pick of the Day: Stamptown (in LA) 11/30

November 3, 2022
News
bonavega, catherine cohen, chad damiani, christina catherine martinez, Dylan Adler, los angeles comedy, Mae Martin, natalie palamides, stamptown, zach zucker

Returning victoriously from Europe, Zach Zucker and Stamptown his traveling, rotating circus of clowns, stand-ups, characters, out there musical acts, and more is coming around to LA once more. The last time Stamptown was in town was six months ago back when Netflix Is a Joke Fest finally happened, which, honestly feels like two years ago at this point.

Per usual, Zucker has gone above and beyond to stack the line-up with the most daring and illuminating acts in town, which will include (so far for this 11/30 edition):

Mae Martin
Catherine Cohen
Natalie Palamides
Dylan Adler
Bonavega
Chad Damiani
Christina Catherine Martinez

It’s at the nice and big and raucous Bourbon Room in the heart of Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd. (perhaps one of the only reasons to go there?) and tickets are only $20 right now. Go get ’em while you still can here.

Pick of the Day: Tinder Live with Lane Moore & Guest Janeane Garofalo (in NYC) 11/5

November 2, 2022
News
janeane garofalo, lane moore, littlefield, tinder live

It should be a given, whether you follow us closely here at The Comedy Bureau or not, that Tinder Live with Lane Moore is an absolute must see show whenever it plays even remotely close to you wherever you are. It’s one of the most electric shows simply from Lane’s undeniable charm and whipsmart wit while diving headfirst into Tinder.

NYC gets treated to Lane’s Tinder escapades on a monthly basis at Littlefield in Brooklyn, but we wanted to highlight this one a little more as indie comedy legend Janeane Garofalo will be the featured guest that will be offering her hallowed counsel on whatever dating profiles come across Lane’s screen. Thus, it’s an extra, double-plus must see and there are tickets still available for this 11/5 edition of Tinder Live.

They’re going for $25.35 and you best snag them here now.

Michael Che, Julia Fox, DeRay Mckesson, and More Will Be Latest Iconic Guests in Ziwe’s Pink Hot Seat

The first part of season 2 of Ziwe came to a close in June and it has been far too long since we’ve heard from the icon and her iconic guests (especially with Trevor Noah leaving The Daily Show and Desus & Mero and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee being over).

This round of episodes will bring in Michael Che, Julia Fox, Amber Riley, Blake Griffin, Joel Kim Booster, Bob The Drag Queen, DeRay Mckesson, Drew Barrymore and Wayne Brady for some of the most hilariously cringe and clippable interviews as well as some of the best, unrelenting satirical bits/sketches on all of television.

Pick of the Day: Thanks But No Thanksgiving (in LA) 11/11

November 1, 2022
News
brian bahe, dash turner, dynasty typewriter, los angeles comedy, native american heritage month, tai leclaire

November 1st marks the beginning of Native American Heritage Month and, as such, you best not forget about the rest of history outside of the first Thanksgiving involving the Indigenous Peoples of North America and all the folks that came over on boats, claiming they “discovered” this place.

One of the ways you could honor this month is going to Dash Turner, Brian Bahe, and Tai Leclaire’s perfectly coined Native American comedy variety show, Thanks But No Thanksgiving, coming to Dynasty Typewriter next Fri. on Nov. 11th at 10PM PT. There will be all sorts of wonderful native stand-up, sketch/characters, and even some games (which will probably be as fun as it’ll be educational about Native American Heritage Month).

Tickets are $20 right now, you better go get’em here.
