It has been quite some time since we’ve got a chance to see Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher AKA renowned comedy duo BriTANick (if you’re not familiar, enjoy going down a YouTube rabbit hole here) together on stage to enjoy their absurdist antics, and now, maybe some stand-up comedy (Nick has become quite the stand-up over the last few years).

Thankfully, that latest chance is just around the corner, specifically next Saturday, December 15th at 10PM at UCB Franklin.

Tickets are $12 and you can (and should) get them here.

With the horrific damage that the fires took on California, there are plenty of big, fantastic benefit shows coming up that will raise money for victims of said fires.

This includes:

Judd & Adam & Friends @ Largo at the Coronet Theatre Fri. Dec. 14th 8PM (currently sold out)

Holidaze! @ Dynasty Typewriter Fri. Dec. 14th 7PM, $15 in adv., $20 at door

The Comedy Store Festival @ Fonda Theatre Sat Dec. 15th 8PM $46-$131

If you can swing it, you should go to all of them as they’re all very stacked line-ups and, in the spirit of the holidays, it’s a great opportunity to give to people very much in need.

Andre Hyland’s “self-proclaimed mogul” Jesse Miller is back at again with another edition of his Jesse Miller Talk Show. Unlike most talk show hosts, Jesse often moshes during his monologue, wears sunglasses the whole time, has a metal-ish house band led solely by Daryl, and often makes out with his other co-host Tanya.

It’s a talk show that is just “straight up” unlike any other talk show.

Also, Kate Berlant, Nick Thune, and J.D. Dillard are set as guests for this time around at Dynasty Typewriter next week.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at door. Go get’em here.

Bryan Cook and Andy Wood will be celebrating the 1 year anniversary of getting comedians to talk up and even perform their guilty pleasure songs on Guilty Treasure. There’s an awesome live band that backs up everyone on the show and (possibly) makes the songs better than the original.

For this anniversary edition, Matt Braunger, Arden Myrin, Andrés du Bouchet, Kara Klenk, and TJ Chambers are on deck.

Tickets are $12.50 and it’ll all be happening this Wednesday, December 5th at 7PM at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. Get tickets in advance here.

The Jen Kirkman Dysfunctional Xmas Show is one of the very few holiday traditions we can get behind as Jen and guests putting on a lovely comedy and music extravaganza despite what’s going on with the world/family/etc.

Oh, also, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the LA Food Bank and Barnes & Noble will be collecting children’s books for donation as well.

Taking the baton from the legendary Josh & Josh Show every Thursday at 8 at Bar Lubitsch will be the fantastic pairing of comedy power couple Jared Logan and Kara Klenk under the newly minted banner of Better Half.

Both are fantastic stand-ups in their own right and we have no doubt in our minds that they’ll keep the streak of great comedy that Josh & Josh started 10 years ago alive. Definitely, this first line-up is pretty damn great.

Don’t miss this show this inaugural show this Thursday and every Thursday after.

Public School Stories has been carrying the torch as one of the best live storytelling shows in LA thanks to stellar booking and their insistence on the stories only living at the show and not on a podcast or anywhere else. You have to be there to see it and it’s just a little extra special because of that.

So, join them in their final show on Wed., Dec. 5th, which also happens to be their annual charity Winter Formal that will be raising funds for RAICES, Immigration Law Firm.

They haven’t announced the line-up, but we’re sure that all-star hosts/producers Stephen Falk, Joey Slamon, James Urbaniak, Natasha Vargas-Cooper will not disappoint.

As always, along with Gareth, we’ll be intensely curious to see what Dave brings up this time that uncovers some dark thing about LA (or even specifically downtown) that we might have not known about and then Gareth and Dave riff the humor out of said darkness.

let me know if you need anything, lizzy cooperman, silverlake, solo show

Lizzy Cooperman was one of the first comedians that we saw and redefined what we thought comedy could be.

Normally, a brilliant punk rock-ish absurdist comedian whose short jokes hit as hard as she bangs her keyboard after her punchlines, Lizzy takes a turn towards telling the story of getting stricken with a mysterious disease and having her whole life changed because of it. We just this show last week, definitely “felt all the feelings”, and was, yet again, amazed with Lizzy Cooperman.

She’s doing another performance tomorrow night at the Lyric Hyperion on Tue., Nov. 20th at 10PM. Tickets are $10 and please go get them here.

You’re cordially invited no matter who you are or what your relationship status is because it doesn’t have to be anything serious (or it even could be a “friend date” because that’s a thing, right?)

Few are as equipped as Wayne Federman to discuss the history of comedy, especially stand-up, as Wayne is not only meticulously studied on the topic and a current professor of stand-up at the University of Southern California, but he has been a very funny, ever-evolving comedian for many decades.

His and Andrew Steven’s podcast mini-series The History of Standup on Podglomerate thus is a handy guide through how stand-up has developed rapidly as an art form even though it’s much younger than most other art forms, especially of the live variety.

Wayne and Andrew will be doing a special live ep. of The History of Standup with a TBA special guest at Dynasty Typewriter at Hayworth Theater next Sunday, Nov. 18th at 2PM.

Fans, nerds, and even those just merely curious of stand-up comedy might want to get into this. Tickets are $15 and you can go get them here.

For 10 years, every Thursday, Josh Haness and Josh Weinstein have been holding down one of the best stand-up showcases in LA, appropriately called The Josh & Josh Show. Held in the back room of Bar Lubitsch, the nice and tight line-up always made for a damn fine night of stand-up in WeHo.

Unfortunately, The Joshes have decided to end their decade run at Lubitsch next Thursday leaving this Thursday and 11/15 left for you to catch their show (a thing we highly urge you to do, especially since it’s FREE w/no drink minimum or maximum).

Tomorrow, they’ve got a stacked line-up of Joe DeRosa, Kara Klenk, Jared Logan, Kurt Braunohler, Eddie Della Siepe, and Ian Karmel.
