Danny McBride and Jody Hill Are Developing Comedy for HBO

Without Eastbound & Down having aired it’s final episode, Danny McBride is setting himself up quite nicely after series wraps.

Chozen on FXx got the greenlight and now this new project at Showtime is in development with long time collaborator Jody Hill (they first did the Foot Fist Way together), so McBride is well on his way to being more of a badass than Kenny Powers.

You may think of the Oscar winning actor as a completely dramatic actor, but Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been hilarious in such roles in movies like The Big Lebowski, The Savages, and even a memorable cameo in Along Came Polly.

That’s why we’re really definitely excited to see what comes from a Phillip Seymour Hoffman starring comedy pilot over at Showtime.

They’ll be joining Judy Greer and Nat Faxon on the Andrew Gurland pilot at FX for FXx. It sounds like quite the cast and, perhaps, this is a sign of things to come at FXx, which we’re liking the look of.

NBC Orders “Undateable” to Series

NBC ordering Bill Lawrence’s ‘Undateable’ means comedians Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Rick Glassman, Ron Funches will on be a network series together.

We’ll definitely be watching how this series develops.

As more networks are either expanding their comedy programming are entirely rebranding themselves as a comedy focused channel, Comedy Central has made a lot of great moves over the last year in what is getting to be one crowded race for comedy on television.

Today, they’ve ordered both an animated pilot from Will Gluck and Conan writer Scott Gairdnerand added another late night show hosted by Chris Hardwick and produced by Funny or Die/Robert Ben Garant/Thomas Lennon.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming months.

This is good news all around as John Mulaney’s pilot got another solid cast member in Seaton Smith and, apparently, Martin Short will be playing a game show host mentor to Mulaney.

We know we haven’t seen any clips or footage of any kind, but this better get picked up.

Moshe is joining Rob Corddry at Spy, Parker Posey is starring along side the great JK Simmons, Mira Sorvino is in Jim Gaffigan’s pilot, and Brent Morin is starring in an untitled pilot.
