Some of you might have been lucky enough to catch Jacqueline Novak here in LA work on what is now going to be a full-fledged Off-Broadway show, Get On Your Knees.

Certainly, there has been plenty of buzz about this exquisite show (Mike Birbiglia and Natasha Lyonne have attached their names as well as John Early set as director) have attached the that dissects the concept of the blowjob since Jacqueline has been “quietly” workshopping it around LA over the last few months. We caught it for ourselves a few months ago and it truly was a magnificent exploration of something that’s normally reserved for the arena of mere “dick jokes”.

Get On Your Knees will indeed be headed to the Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC this Summer, but you really ought to keep tabs on Jacqueline’s Twitter and Instagram so you might just get one last chance to catch this like on Jun. 20th at Lyric Hyperion.

It took the rare talents of someone like Bill Murray to not only make Groundhog Day work, but be one of the most beloved comedies of all time.

Fortunately, we’re pretty sure that Natasha Lyonne is one of those talents as this trailer for the upcoming Netflix series Russian Doll (coming from Lyonne, Amy Poehler, and Leslye Headland), despite stepping into well worn comedic territory of reliving the same day over-and-over, is pretty enticing pretty much because of her.

See for yourself here, then mark Feb. 1st on your calendar for season 1 to begin streaming.

Netflix Orders Natasha Lyonne/Leslye Headland/Amy Poehler Comedy to Series Starring Lyonne

The premise of following “a young woman named Nadia (Lyonne) on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City,” is something that leads to plenty of intriguing possibilities, especially since this is only one of Natasha’s party stories.

This week, @midnight is “sponsored” by Donald Trump or, rather, Anthony Atamanuik’s killer impression of Trump.

You can see that he does not disappoint in a round of Hashtag Wars with Katee Sackhoff, Natasha Lyonne, and Doug Benson.

Carrie Brownstein’s Short Film “The Realest Real” Satirizes Social Media by Anthropomorphizing It

Noted fashion house Kenzo has been making plenty of right moves lately and making their brand seem even cooler than it already is. They had a really great Spike Jonze music video and now, they have a short film by Carrie Brownstein.

Called The Realest Real, it skewers social media in a Portlandia-esque way if you set Portlandia in the dystopian future of a nameless city. Also, Natasha Lyonne plays a pretty great role in it.

Watch it here.

The Intervention Might Just Be the Dramedy of the Year

Clea DuVall’s debut as a writer/director is a pretty damn fine one.

Her film, The Intervention, following a “marriage intervention” is simultaneously well crafted, emotionally charged, and laugh out loud hysterical. The notable ensemble cast of Melanie Lynskey, Cobie Smulders, Ben Schwartz, Natasha Lyonne, DuVall, Alia Shawkat, and Vincent Piazza do not disappoint either in handling the delicate material.

If you want more comedy in your dramedies or want to see something that exhibits the real nitty gritty of several different relationships, but does actually celebrate the idea of love without seeming too heavy handed, The Intervention just might be for you.

It just opened at Arclight Hollywood today, but you can watch it on iTunes now as well.

Trailer for “Intervention” Dramedy from Clea DuVall Brings Up a Different Sort of Intervention

The A&E series Intervention brings to mind the struggles of those with various drug and substance abuses and the harrowing journey that all of that entails.

The Clea DuVall movie of the same name does track an Intervention, but it has nothing to really do with the ‘usual suspects’ that force an intervention.

Instead, Ben Schwartz, Alia Shawkat, Clea DuVall, Melanie Lynskey, Natasha Lyonne, and Jason Ritter give Vincent Piazza and Cobie Smulders the sort of intervention that might become more commonplace after this movie hits theaters.

See for yourself in the trailer.

Look for Intervention, the dramedy feature film, in theaters on August 26th.

Between this and G.L.O.W., there’s a great, new wave of female-led comedies forming.

Last year, Talya Lavie put herself on Hollywood’s map with an Office-esque comedy feature, Zero Motivation, that was set on an Israeli army base.

This year, Amy Poehler, Natasha Lyonne, Tami Sagher, and more are lending their pull as producers to adapt this into a series over at BBC America.

As BBC America is trying something new under the relatively new leadership of President and General Manager Sarah Barnett, we think they’re started off in a good direction.

Oh yeah, David Wain is also directing.

Netflix is adapting Josh Karp’s book A Futile and Stupid Gesture: How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever into a full length feature biopic, which is already enticing by itself.

The ensemble cast that has been assembled has been kind of a dream team with the aforementioned Green, Lennon, Daly, Forte, McHale, Walsh, Gemberling, Gleeson, and Mull along with Natasha Lyonne being the latest to sign on.

With Wain at the helm, A Futile and Stupid Gesture is as buzzworthy as it can get before production has even started.

It would seem that papier-mâché, acid, and the story of Aladdin have all have somehow found their way to each other through the mind of song-writer-turned-filmmaker Adam Green.

The result is aptly named Adam Green’s Aladdin and has one hell of a trailer. Also, Natasha Lyonne, Alia Shawkat, and plenty more make cameos.

If you’re hooked, look for Adam Green’s Aladdin’s digital release on Fri Apr. 15th in the U.S. and Sat. May 12th around the world.

Natasha Lyonne and Judy Greer play dysfunctional sisters who end up working together as maids that have to figure out what to do with a dead body all in Fresno, CA.

That’s an incredibly enticing premise for Addicted to Fresno, which shows promise in this trailer.

Also, take note of how Natasha Lyonne has really risen above American Pie from the last millennium and is kind of killing it right now.

Two ex’s that are addicted to sex try not having sex with each other while reconnecting in IFC Films’ Sleeping With Other People.

Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie push as close to the edges of the “will they/won’t they” paradigm, that exists in all romantic comedies, as they possibly can.

A supporting cast of Jason Mantzoukas, Amanda Peet, and Natasha Lyonne seems like thy offer some pretty great comic relief from the thick, thick sexual tension as well.

Watch the trailer here, then look for it in theaters on 9/11.

(via Deadline)

Once called “Fresno”, “Addicted to Fresno” played at SXSW earlier year.

As mentioned before, Judy Greer and Natasha Lyonne play co-dependent sisters trying to cover up an accidental murder, which already sounds like it could be good fun.

On top of that, Fred Armisen, Aubrey Plaza, Kumail Nanjiani, Jessica St. Clair, Molly Shannon, and Ron Livingston round out the cast and Karey Dornetto (whose written on many of your favorite shows including Portlandia and Arrested Development and South Park) wrote the script. So, you’ll probably want to check it out or, at the very least, be excited for a trailer.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired Addicted to Fresno for a fall release.

If this fares well, we’ll be curious to see if SXSW’s film line-up gets even more coveted and expanded next year a la Sundance. It wouldn’t be surprising if it happened, especially in regards to comedy since there’s a comedy portion of the festival already that has screened several comedies, both studio and indie.

The upcoming comedy feature Fresno was already intriguing enough following Judy Greer and Natasha Lyonne as two dysfunctional sisters that are hotel maids attempting to dispose of a body.

Now, the likes of Aubrey Plaza, Ron Livingston, Molly Shannon, and Fred Armisen have joined the cast.

From the looks of it, Fresno has never been more appealing.

IFC’s biggest series are getting into production for their latest seasons and, of course, they have quite the guest star list.

Pitchfork reports that a nice roster of bands will be featured on Comedy Bang! Bang! including The National, Lonely Island, Future Islands, and The Flaming Lips. Presumably, there will be some great jamming between them and Comedy Bang! Bang’s band leader Reggie Watts.

Splitsider has found through Carrie Brownstein’s Instagram that Natasha Lyonne, Jeff Goldblum, and Jane Lynch, amongst others will join Fred Armisen and Carrie in Portlandia.

So, we can’t wait for the premiere of either of these.

Judy Greer and Natasha Lyonne are finally taking more of a deserving top billing role in an upcoming comedy from director Jamie Babbit and writer Karey Dornetto.

Together, Greer and Lyonne be playing sisters and hotel maids that don’t get along as one is impulsive and the other is overly regimented. On top of that they have to clean up an accidental death that’s their fault, which could be a bunch fun with this duo, possibly the type of fun promised by 2008’s Sunshine Cleaning.

Fred Willard To Co-Star In Amy Poehler’s NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Old Soul’

This news means Natasha Lyonne, Rita Moreno, Nick Thune, and now Fred Willard will now be starring in a pilot produced by Amy Poehler and directed by David Wain.

Sounds pretty grand, right?

We hope that we get to see this relatively soon whether it gets a series order, which we sincerely are hoping for, or not.

Rita Moreno To Co-Star In Amy Poehler’s NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Old Soul’

So, this news will make it Natasha Lyonne and Rita Moreno in a comedy pilot together produced by Amy Poehler and put Old Soul into an even higher profile this pilot season than it already is.

If this gets picked up, maybe there will be a crossover episode between Amy’s other series she produces, Broad City.

So, along with hosting The Golden Globes, which aired on NBC, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey now both have overall deals and comedy projects (this new Poehler pilot will have Natasha Lyonne starring) at the peacock.

At this point, couldn’t Poehler and Fey have their own network?
