Watch Ben Schwartz’s Last Appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

December 11, 2014
Uncategorized
ben schwartz, craig ferguson, late late show

Since Craig Ferguson is winding down his run at The Late Late Show, his last round of guests are all his favorite folks to chat and goof around with.

Any time Ferguson and Ben Schwartz are seated next to each other, they’re having the most fun from wire-to-wire without really getting to any sort of pre-interview questions, though that is Ferguson’s sort of interview style.

Schwartz made his last stop at The Late Late Show last night and, per usual, it was sublimely silly. Watch it starting at 29:57 here or at CBS.com.

CBS Set Interim Hosts for The Late Late Show Before James Corden Takes Over

(via Deadline)

While Craig Ferguson is set to end his run of The Late Late Show on Dec. 19th and James Corden isn’t taking over the role of host until Mar. 9th, CBS will still continue The Late Late Show with a grouping of guests hosts.

Announced today, Jim Gaffigan, Judd Apatow, Will Arnett, Thomas Lennon, and more will fill in during the winter at The Late Late Show.

As John Oliver’s run as host at The Daily Show ended up being a test run for his own show, perhaps the very same thing could happen during any of the weeks that any of the aforementioned interim hosts.

However, there is no word on whether there will be interim Geoff Petersons.

Jimmy Kimmel Tries to Convince Craig Ferguson To Not Leave “The Late Late Show”

November 9, 2014
Uncategorized

Craig Ferguson is a very good late night talk show host.

Perhaps, you’ve not had your TV tuned to CBS at 12:35AM after Letterman to find that out over the last decade, but Ferguson, for our money, excelled at the hardest part of hosting the traditional late night talk show format, the interviews. The skill of making a fun, intriguing conversation with people whether they be crazy or dull is one that Ferguson has honed better than almost anyone currently working in late night.

So, the prospect of his exit from The Late Late Show is one that we’re having difficulty getting used to and Jimmy Kimmel feels much the same way.

Craig explains his reasons to Jimmy and the rest of us on The Late Late Show during Jimmy’s appearance on the show this week. Watch it here or here on CBS and start at 18:01 because CBS doesn’t want to put this vastly interesting interview in an easily accessible, user-friendly format online.

Craig Ferguson Gives a Welcome to His Replacement James Corden

Yesterday, the news broke that James Corden will indeed be replacing Craig Ferguson as the host of The Late Late Show.

As you’d expect, Ferguson noted this on last night’s episode of The Late Late Show and gave a nice welcome to the new host as Craig, Geoff Peterson as well as bits as Awkward Pause are getting to go.

Craig Ferguson Planning on Leaving His 12:35AM Talk Show For a 7PM Talk Show

(via Variety)

As of now, Craig Ferguson is lining up his next show after his departure from The Late Late Show at CBS, which he’s aiming to be a syndicated talk show that would air right before primetime for networks at 7PM.

He’d also be going from an hour to a half-hour as well as leaving a broadcast network to syndication through Tribune Media, which owns WGN America.

Pending these final negotiations, Ferguson’s new show, where he’ll probably be even dissuaded from having his innovative curse word censoring on The Late Late Show, will look to premiere in the latter part of 2015.

We’re throughly curious as to how this new show will look, sound, feel, be formatted, and, also, what will happen to Geoff Peterson.

CBS’ Nina Tassler Is Open To Not Having a Talk Show Following The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

(via The Wrap)

The end of Craig Ferguson’s run at The Late Late Show may be the end of The Late Late Show as well.

In CBS’ TCA presentation, CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler revealed that she’s been toying with the idea of doing something different when David Letterman and Ferguson end their runs at The Late Show and The Late Late Show, respectively.

So far, Stephen Colbert is slated to replace Letterman at The Late Show, which will presumably be called The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. There has been much speculation over what would happen in the 12:30AM slot following Colbert then, but no replacement host has been picked and it might not even be a comedy-oriented program according to Tassler.

Tassler doesn’t make it clear whether that will happen or not, but only details the possibilities, which could further shake up the late night world.

Norm MacDonald Auditions for The Late Late Show and Is Hysterical in General on Conan

In an effort to further his campaign to take over The Late Late Show next year when Craig Ferguson steps down, Norm MacDonald put together a “one-minute audition reel” while on Conan in addition to doing his routinely amazing panel interview with Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter.

There’s no way that CBS can completely ignore this.

Norm MacDonald Fans Push For #LateLateNormNorm

If you follow Norm MacDonald on Twitter (and you should), you might have noticed last night that there was a flurry of tweets and RTs of the hashtag #LateLateNormNorm (possibly started by Ben Hoffman) in a digital grassroots move to put Norm’s hat in the ring to replace Ferguson.

So far, we haven’t seen anything like that for any of the other names that have been rumored to be in the running for The Late Late Show. At this point, the gig really still could go to a wide range of folks, but it’s definitely fun to imagine Norm MacDonald hosting late night for all the times he was absolutely hysterical as a guest.

Also, that hashtag is pretty catchy.

Michael Ian Black, Amy Schumer, John Hodgman, and More Reportedly in Running to Replace Craig Ferguson

It has been stated that CBS will not make any decision until after they upfront presentation on how will take Craig Ferguson’s place at The Late Late Show when he leaves at the end of the year.

However, Michael Ian Black, Jason Jones, Neil Patrick Harris, Aisha Tyler, John Hodgman, Joel McHale, and Amy Schumer are all in rumored to be in consideration for the job.

Given how quickly they got Colbert to replace Letterman, we’d guess that CBS will have someone chosen by the end of May.

Craig Ferguson Leaving The Late Late Show in December

In the wake of Stephen Colbert being set to take over The Late Show from David Letterman at some point next year, Craig Ferguson has opted against any sort of renewal as a host of The Late Late Show.

There is no word on a replacement, but we think that it could really go to anyone, an idea that CBS should keep in mind, given that Ferguson was definitely a roll of the die by CBS when he took The Late Late Show from Craig Kilborn.

Craig Ferguson and Drew Carey Set to Swap Hosting Gigs for April Fool’s Day

The prospect of Craig Ferguson hosting The Price Is Right and Drew Carey doing a night of The Late Late Show, especially after their time together on The Drew Carey Show, will undoubtedly be a good time.

However, as this is supposed to be part of April Fool’s Day “festivities”, we are tempted to suspect that there’s more to this than just swapping.

Cameron Esposito Makes Great Late Night Stand Up Debut in Front of Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson

Amongst the huddles of comedians, there are comparatively very few, especially nowadays, who make it to doing a set on a late night talk show. Even rarer is doing a great set, prompting the host to call them over to the couch and chat.

Much more rare, probably because it has never happened, is that when a comedian is called over to the couch by Craig Ferguson with Jay Leno sitting beside him after they interjected, admittedly like Statler and Waldorf, during a set that was going pretty great, then hear Leno say, “White men are on their way out! Lesbians rule!”

Well, that’s exactly what happened to the wonderful Cameron Esposito last night when making her late night debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and it was pretty damn hilarious and amazing.

Please watch it here now.
