1. Um, there’s a whole podcast that’s just Conan O’Brien and infamous associate producer/living manifestation of the phrase “Well, actually”, Jordan Schlansky called The Conan and Jordan Show. Listen and subscribe since it is everything that you want this enduring love/hate relationship to be.

2. Kate McKinnon returns to SNL. Hopefully, it will be on the space ship that she left on.

3. Santa Monica is having a brand new comedy festival out of the arts colony, Bergamot Station, where The Crow Comedy is so conveniently located with a gigantic parking lot and a metro stop. The inaugural edition of The Bergamot Comedy Festival is now taking submissions here.

4. Charlie Day is starring in a dark comedy called “Kill Me” (deadline). The premise sure sounds like an ep. of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Day is trying to figure out whether he tried to kill himself or someone is out to get him.

5. We’ll leave you with this: Tip of the cap to Sabrina Wu and Robby Hoffman crushing their Netflix sets. Go watch them ASAP.

Littlefield’s Gabe Henry not only helms the treasured comedy and music venue in Brooklyn for years and years, especially throughout this darkest timeline of COVID-19, but has gathered many of the best comedians to write haikus all for a book, Eating Salad Drunk, featuring all sorts of artfully hilarious morsels in the form of 5-7-5. Henry talks with TCB’s Jake Kroeger about the journey to actually get a book published and released during the pandemic as well as keeping Littlefield going.

Also, “hot” takes on Righteous Gemstones being renewed, Neil Young taking his music off Spotify because of Joe Rogan’s disinformation, Laura Ingraham doing an impression of SNL’s Kate McKinnon doing an impression of Laura Ingraham, and more.

Follow Gabe @_gabehenry on Twitter and @gabe.henryy on IG. Follow Littlefield @littlefieldnyc across socials.

Eating Salad Drunk: Haikus for the Burnout Age by Comedy Greats will come out at wherever you get your fine books on Feb. 22nd, 2022 or 2/22/22.

Leave it to Billy Eichner to have New Yorkers gush about Reese Witherspoon while staring straight into the eyes of Kate McKinnon (i.e. not Reese Witherspoon). Don’t worry, there are a few that figured it out.

In any case, it’s another great ep. of Billy on the Street. Get into it here.

Key & Peele got a proper send-off for the final season with this Emmy win and what might be talked about as one of Louie Anderson’s best performances of his career in Baskets as the mother nabbed him a statue as well. Also, Master of None’s writing definitely earned its Emmy win here.

Take note of the power of premium cable and streaming services, particularly HBO and Amazon, in this round of winners.

Kate McKinnon, Tracee Ellis Ross, Samantha Bee, Niecy Nash, and Allison Janney Sound Off on “Why Men Aren’t Funny”

This is a nice counterpoint to that infamous, inflammatory, and completely unnecessary Christopher Hitchens essay from 2007 voiced by some of the most notable funny people around today that just happen to be women.

Sure, 2007 was almost a decade ago and there has always been evidence against Hitchens, but it’s always fun to skewer his Why Women Aren’t Funny piece every once in awhile.

SNL’s Kate McKinnon is a treasure for seemingly being inspired by the loving moniker, “Notorious RBG”, that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has gained over the years, and then swinging for the fences when impersonating her.

Watch her as Notorious RBG here.

There’s been a lot of unfortunate hullabaloo and controversy, much of which is unwarranted, surrounding the trailers for Paul Feig’s new all-female Ghostbusters.

Let’s this very enjoyable second international trailer put all of that nonsense to rest.

Only a few days ago, the trailer for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters dropped and went viral.

Now, the international trailer has arrived and gives you a few more bits (not enough to spoil anything) for you to enjoy/ponder including more lines from Chris Hemsworth as the secretary.

For awhile now, we’ve been trying to imagine what the trailer for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot with an all female set of Ghostbusters would be like, especially since it’s a pretty great team of McCarthy, McKinnon, Wiig, and Jones.

Finally, the first official trailer is here and we don’t have to imagine anymore. It should be pretty obvious, but Melissa, Kate, Kristen, and Leslie all look great together as Ghostbusters.

As hosts of yesterday’s Film Independent Spirit Awards, Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani engaged in the classic movie awards tradition of ribbing and parodying the movies that were nominated.

Their pedigree of SNL, Portlandia, and Silicon Valley served them well, especially with their great send-up of Carol. Watch it here.

Broadcast will be live at 2PM PST/5PM EST on IFC.

Before The Oscars tomorrow night, don’t sleep on The Film Independent Spirit Awards, which will be hosted by the fascinating pairing of Kumail Nanjiani and SNL’s Kate McKinnon.

Again, it’s live and with Kumail and Kate, the show could get very interesting.

We sincerely hope that Film Independent lets Kate and Kumail get as weird and crazy as they want.

The choice of hosts in this year’s awards season are really intriguing. From TJ Miller set to host The Critics’ Choice Awards to Ricky Gervais returning for The Golden Globes to now, Kate McKinnon, one of SNL’s current best, and Kumail Nanjiani (who we hope you know from Silicon Valley, The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail, and Portlandia) getting ready to host The Film Independent Spirit Awards.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on IFC on Sat. Feb. 27th, which we’re sure will make for some damn good fun with Kate and Kumail at the helm.

This news broke at Comic-Con and it was also revealed that Peter Griffin’s sister is a professional wrestler.

Not only will be Kate McKinnon be busting ghosts soon, but she’ll also expanding beyond her roles at SNL by voicing Heavy Flow, the pro female wrestler sister of Peter Griffin on Family Guy.

We’re definitely on board for this and can only hope this makes for several appearances from Heavy Flow in the upcoming season of Family Guy.

Women in comedy are definitely having a moment right now unlike they’ve had in decades past.

Not only are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler comedy power brokers, but there are more female producers, writers, and directors making female led comedy series and movies.

That being said, there is still a lot of stereotypes and prejudice that needs to be fought against. So, The Hollywood Reporter had a frank roundtable discussion with Amy Schumer, Ellie Kemper, Tracee Ellis Ross, Gina Rodriguez, Lena Dunham, and Kate McKinnon about carving out their niche in comedy.

You might just be surprised the sort of nonsense regarding women on screen that still exists in 2015 as well be proud of what the folks in this discussion have accomplished when you watch this…

Kate McKinnon Isn’t Messing Around, Sort Of, With Louis C.K. in These SNL Promos

One of the best Saturday Night Live hosts in recent memory, Louis C.K., is back to host the show’s season finale this Saturday.

That being said, SNL’s Kate McKinnon, makes sure C.K. knows his place, in a Kate McKinnon sort of way.

Not that we had any doubts, but it looks the next installment of IFC’s Spoils mini-series franchise, The Spoils Before Dying, could be just as epically overwrought featuring one heck of a cast.

Already, they have Michael K. Williams starring and now, they have Kristen Wiig, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Val Kilmer, Steve Tom, and Marc Evan Jackson returning from The Spoils of Babylon as well as new cast members including Kate McKinnon, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, Emily Ratajkowski, Andy Daly, Chris Mulkey, Chin Han, Jack Kilmer, Patty Guggenheim, and Bérénice Marlohe.

So, just imagine all of this cast in a noir-ish murder mystery that follows a jazz piano player, but does so according to the words of Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell in a beard, fedora, and fat suit).

From the moment she landed in her first sketch on Saturday Night Live a few years ago, Kate McKinnon has stood out as an unabashed delight. When Kate gets to just let loose in a sketch, it’s pretty damn great.

Case in point: an “alternate” ending to cinema classic Casablanca with her playing Ilsa and JK Simmons as Rick. Watch it here.

Rather than further the speculation on whether Chris Pratt will end up being a new incarnation of Indiana Jones, revel in the cast of Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot. Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon will strap on proton packs and take down ghoulies in what’s supposed to be a scarier take on the franchise.

Looks like Bill Murray was right on with two of the four choices.

In addition to the top billed cast Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, and Kristen Wiig, Ken Marino, Kate McKinnon, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Leslie Jones, Devin Ratray, and Ross Kimball are now in on the Jared Hess directed heist comedy.

That’s one hell of a cast and we wonder if we’ll get to see all of them in the trailer when that comes out.

Intramural from Andrew Disney and Bradley Jackson just might be the sports movie parody that we’ve been waiting for. You were waiting for that right?

Even if you’re not, an ensemble comedy featuring the likes of SNL cast, BriTANick, Good Neighbor, DC Pierson and more playing intramural sports is definitely enticing.

Watch the trailer here before it makes it premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on Apr. 19th.
