Rather Than Solving Cold Cases, WOMEN Are Trying to Solve “Still-Open Case Files”
For a very long time, you’ve probably seen show after show about how various horrific crimes have gone unsolved.
With that in mind, the boys of WOMEN have made “Still-Open Case Files” as their latest IFC sketch, which is completely different angle, somehow, to unsolved crimes.

Bill Hader Feigns Surprise at Documentary Now! Being Renewed on Late Night with Seth Meyers
The triumvirate of IFC’s Documentary Now!, Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, and Fred Armisen all met this week on Late Night with Seth Meyers and announced that IFC had ordered seasons 2 and 3 of the parody docu-series.
Upon hearing the news for “the first time”, Hader “exclaimed” surprise and joy during his interview.
Any takers on what documentaries, doc styles they’ll parody in the coming seasons? Michael Moore, Alex Gibney, Act of Killing?

IFC Orders Pilots From Dan Harmon, Sara Schaefer, and Jim Norton
(via Deadline)
IFC has faux talk shows covered with Comedy Bang! Bang!. Now they’re looking to get into the real thing.
From Dan Harmon, IFC is ordering a pilot of a panel talk show where Harmon chats up famous historical figures played by comedians called Great Minds. From Sara Schaefer, they’re ordering a week-in-review show with predominantly female correspondents called 1320 Seconds. To round it off with a third, IFC is ordering a more traditional talk show pilot with Jim Norton as the host.
All three are different enough that we wouldn’t be surprised to see all of them get a short first season order.
Get a First Look at IFC’s TV Series Adaption of “Weather From”, “Gigi Does It”
David Krumholtz wonderfully playing a grandmother named Gigi that gives you an oddball forecast on WeatherFrom.com was enough to get IFC on board to make a whole show following Gigi around.
You can see how Gigi is like outside of talking about the weather, which is, incidentally, very much like when she talks about the weather in this preview clip.
Look for the premiere of Gigi Does It on Oct 1st at 10:30PM on IFC.
Somehow, We Got a Sort Of Shout Out on “Maron”
In comedy, it’s often an honor to get referenced in an Andy Kindler joke.
While we’ve heard Kindler do it on stage from time to time, Kindler specifically references The Comedy Bureau in this Maron clip, which has definitely made us feel like we’re doing something right around here.
So, thanks to both Maron and Kindler to give us the niche validation that our “staff” thrives on. (We’re fully aware that this is the sort of self-congratulatory post that also can be made fun of in a Kindler-esque joke, but we’re just glad to be mentioned on TV).
“The Spoils Before Dying”, Season 5 of “Key and Peele”, and “Why? with Hannibal Buress” All Premiere Tonight
9PM The Spoils Before Dying mini-series premiere on IFC with back-to-back episodes
10PM Key and Peele season 5 premiere on Comedy Central
10:30PM Why? with Hannibal Buress series premiere on Comedy Central
We hope that this was already your plans for this evening. If not, and you had something, somehow blocked out for 9PM to 11PM tonight, we suggest adjusting your schedule accordingly.
Also, Conan: Live at Comic Con is at 11PM on TBS, so just make watching comedy on your TV the thing you do all night tonight.
Get Your First Glimpse of Helen Mirren as The Host of Faux Docu-Series “Documentary Now!”
IFC’s upcoming Documentary Now! from Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Seth Meyers got the perfect cherry on top of their fictional parody docu-series when they landed Dame Helen Mirren as a host.
Get your first look of how pitch perfect this series is going to be here then mark down Thurs. Aug. 20th 10PM for the premiere on IFC.
The Will They/Won’t They Dynamic Gets Taken To The Next Level in “Sleeping With Other People” Trailer
Two ex’s that are addicted to sex try not having sex with each other while reconnecting in IFC Films’ Sleeping With Other People.
Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie push as close to the edges of the “will they/won’t they” paradigm, that exists in all romantic comedies, as they possibly can.
A supporting cast of Jason Mantzoukas, Amanda Peet, and Natasha Lyonne seems like thy offer some pretty great comic relief from the thick, thick sexual tension as well.
Watch the trailer here, then look for it in theaters on 9/11.
Here’s The First Trailer For IFC’s “The Spoils Before Dying”
IFC will have its latest mini series adaptation from the fictionally legendary author Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell) and his “masterpiece” The Spoils Before Dying next month on Wed. Jul. 8th at 9PM.
It’s a meta tale of murder, mistaken identity, jazz and questioning tropes of the whole film noir genre.
You can a great feel for just that in trailer right over here.
Get a Taste of What’s To Come in CollegeHumor’s First “Comedy Music Hall of Fame”
2015 will be the year that we saw the creation of both a Comedy Hall of Fame as well a Comedy Music Hall of Fame. While we know that you can see hologram performances at the Comedy Hall of Fame, the premiere of the Comedy Music Hall of Fame special leaves the imagination to run wild especially with Paul F. Tompkins hosting, Weird Al Yankovic, Jack Black, Rachel Bloom, Trevor Moore, and more involved in the inaugural edition of this event.
Watch a trailer for it here and see what we’re talking about then tune in Fri. Jun. 19th at either CollegeHumor.com at 8PM or on TV on IFC at 10PM.
Reggie Watts Makes Music on “Comedy Bang! Bang!” One Last Time with Lauren Lapkus
Last week was the last week of Reggie Watts as bandleader on Comedy Bang! Bang! as he has shifted his comedically musical duties to The Late Late Show with James Corden.
So, on his last episode, where they, of course, have Reggie disappear under mysterious circumstances and have the typically joyous Reggie Makes Music segment go awry with Lauren Lapkus.
Helen Mirren To Host Faux-Documentary IFC Show “Documentary Now!”
(via EW)
We can’t wait to see what Hader, Armisen, and Meyers get a former Queen Elizabeth to say.
Helen Mirren is set to host the parody documentary series created by Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, and Seth Meyers called Documentary Now! coming to IFC on Aug. 20th.
We wonder if this will take her down more comedic roads, more roles like she’s had in Red, if this really clicks.
Comedies “The Lobster”, “A Perfect Day”, “Mia Madre” Sell at Cannes
Though Cannes Film Festival is more synonymous with very timely and hard hitting dramas, high concept, socially conscious, and/or foreign comedies do have a place there.
At Cannes, Distributor Alchemy has bought up the U.S. rights to The Lobster, a dystopian futuristic romantic comedy where it’s illegal to be single, starring Colin Farrell, and Italian dramedy Mia Madre co-starring John Turturro.
IFC Films has acquired the U.S. rights to international war comedy “A Perfect Day” which includes the cast of Benicio Del Toro, Tim Robbins, Olga Kurylenko, and more.
Having the stamp of approval of premiering at Cannes, we hope to see all these films theatrically released in the States soon.
IFC and College Humor Are Honoring Musical Comedy With Their “CollegeHumor’s Comedy Music Hall of Fame” Special
The likes of Weird Al Yankovic, Tenacious D, Rachel Bloom, Trevor Moore, and more have brought the art of musical comedy to a point where they warrant an entire TV special honoring their works over the years.
So, College Humor and IFC are doing just that with the very first CollegeHumor’s Comedy Music Hall of Fame. The great Paul F. Tompkins will be presiding as the host and there will be retrospectives, interviews, and new videos to be seen.
The festivities can be seen on IFC on Fri. Jun. 19th at 10PM.
Here’s an announcement as proof of all of the above.
“Maron” Shows What Trying To Pick an Agent Can Be Like
As you’ve probably gathered from even watching a clip of Entourage, dealing with entertainment agencies can be difficult. Even if you’re just picking one to have represent you in order to move your career forward, trying to figure which one is best is sometimes like trying to pick between apples and other apples of similar, but different shades.
This clip from Maron gives a pretty good estimation of that experience.
Fred Armisen/Bill Hader/Seth Meyers’ “Documentary Now!” Faux Docu-Series Coming to IFC
An Al Capone Festival in Iceland, the first documentary about the Inuit, drug cartels, a band called Blue Jean Committee, are just a few “subjects” they’ll be covering.
The minds of Armisen, Hader, and Meyers have banded together to make up fake history of which to do documentaries about. The series, which has been ordered for six episodes at IFC, is appropriately called Documentary Now!
Fred and Bill will star in the series donning a plethora of costumes and accents.
Look for Documentary Now! on IFC starting Thurs. Aug. 20th at 10PM.
“The Spoils Before Dying” Will Premiere In Its Entirety Over 3 Days
IFC wants to make the weekend after the 4th of July one to remember.
The next part of “The Spoils…” mini-series franchise at IFC will premiere July 8th at 9PM with two episodes playing back-to-back. The next two nights after that will also have two episodes of The Spoils Before Dying with each block playing at the same time.
This way, you won’t be left with too much time between possible hilariously overwrought cliffhangers of Michael K. Williams getting tangled up all in jazz, drugs and murder.
We do wonder if that they’ll quickly put the whole mini-series online somewhere right after the premiere weekend.
Watch a Whole Episode of Season 3 of “Maron” Before Next’s Week Premiere Thanks to IFC
The season 3 of premiere of Maron isn’t until next week on May 14th 10PM, but IFC has put an entire episode on YouTube to get your fix right now.
IFC Orders 5th Season of “Comedy Bang! Bang!”
(via Deadline)
This almost makes Comedy Bang! Bang! one of the longest running faux meta talk shows in TV history.
Comedy Bang! Bang! continues it’s unbelievable run, first as a live stage show, then a podcast, and now a TV series that will have 20 more episodes with Scott Aukerman and company coming to IFC sometime next year.
The Larry Sanders Show made it to six seasons and it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see Comedy Bang! Bang! at least make it that far at this point.
