Jenny Zigrino and Jen Saunderson Made a Cooking Show Actually Inspired by Jokes with “The Filling Is Mutual”

If you’re a fan of any cooking show where chefs all have to use a weird ingredient, you’ll dig IFC web series The Filling Is Mutual.

Hosts Jenny Zigrino and Jen Saunderson pick out a single joke from their comedian guests’ acts and then dream up a dish based on said joke. Sometimes, it’s delicious and sometimes, it really embodies the joke as much as a recipe can.

In any case, you should watch The Filling Is Mutual and maybe get hungry for ‘dicks in a komono’ or ‘white devil eggs’.

IFC Films Buys North American Rights to Armando Iannucci’s ‘The Death of Stalin’

One might be wondering what the creator of Veep, In The Loop, and The Thick of It has been doing since he has handed off the show to the very capable hands of David Mandel.

Well, Armando Iannucci has been making a satire of the last days of Stalin that were filled with high ranking in-fighting, a particular specialty of his. A cast boasting Steve Buscemi, Michael Palin, and Jeffrey Tambor is something to get very excited for as well.

It would seem that these days that any of Iannucci’s work is applicable to the political, global, cultural climate more than it has ever been. With a focus on authoritarian figure to boot, this feeling raises our anticipation for Armando’s Death of Stalin that will get a U.S. release thanks to IFC’s recent purchase of the North American rights at Berlinale 2017.

They’re dropping the old men get up and will be hosting the 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards as just Nick Kroll and John Mulaney. Even with the wisecracks about tuna, Kroll and Mulaney might be a damn fine hosting duo.

They definitely look up to the task in this promo.

You can catch them hosting the Spirit Awards live on IFC on Saturday, February 25th at 2PM PST.

It’s interesting that they went with the bold red font for top billed acts and listed the line-up alphabetically instead of doing the traditional top-to-bottom-big-name-to-up-and-coming. It’s one way to be an oddball we suppose.

The new season of IFC’s Maron is taking the series to possibly its darkest (and possibly most fun) turn yet. Marc has kind of lost everything and in trying to put himself back together, he’s got a great deal unforeseen obstacles ahead of them.

One of those obstacles is the last sort of person that Marc would really want as a roommate (on top of Marc being the sort of person who doesn’t do well with roommates).

Season 4 of Maron premieres this Wednesday at 9PM on IFC.

IFC’s is really branching out this year.

With anything ranging from Portlandia to Maron to Comedy Bang! Bang! to Documentary Now!, IFC is really trying to make its mark with programming that fall under their banner of ‘Always On Slightly Off.”

The slate of series that they’re developing really takes that moniker to new territory.

-Todd Barth Can Help You-a new series from Bryan Cranston, along with Clay Graham and Steven Weber, follows an insurance adjuster who decides to, all of sudden, make a go at being a new age self-help guru.
-Canterbury Tales-Set around Hollywood’s first punk rock club in the 70s, this Allison Anders (Mi Vida Loca, Grace Of My Heart) and Terry Graham (drummer for seminal punk band The Bags, Gun Club, and author of Punk Like Me) series follows a brand new spankin’ band trying to make it.
–Detective Lady-BoJack Horseman’s Kelly Galuska has made a noir-ish comedy focused on a play-by-her-own rules detective.
-How to Rig an Election-Adapted from Allen Raymond’s book How to Rig An Election, Tom Ruprecht (Late Night with David Letterman, The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore) is set to explore the dark side of political campaigning that people are becoming more and more aware of everyday.
–Grand Lake-From WGA award-winning Gretchen Enders (Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street), this dark comedy circles two friends who wish the worst for each other.
-Laughs in Translation-The Above Average web series hosted by Brooks Wheelan where he tries to discover what makes for comedy around the world might be getting an upgrade to linear TV.
-Living With Yourself-Emmy and Peabody award-winning Tim Greenberg (Daily Show) has made a layered, philosophical comedy that trails a frustrated copywriter desperate to become a better person who goes through a unique treatment to do so.
-This Land Is Ours-This series from Vicki Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan (Creators of Getting On and Puppy Love) shows squatters in Harlem squaring off with billionaires to keep the building they love.
-Jon Benjamin’s 100 Erotic Nights-Jon Benjamin delves into confessions of passion and betrayal all while still being Jon Benjamin.
–A late night talk show Hosted by Jim Norton-A newer version of Norton’s talk show that he briefly had on Vice.

Watch IFC’s “Boy Band”, the Darkest Satirical Boy Band Reality Show Parody in Recent Memory

As the boy band formula continues to be successful throughout the decades, there has been parodies of boy bands right there following along. You might remember Conan’s Dudez-a-Plenti or MTV’s 2Ge+her as some of notable examples.

In 2016, Brett Davis of the subversive, meta, absurdist talk show, The Special Without Brett Davis, writes and stars in a new, similarly toned boy band parody in the IFC web series simply called Boy Band.

NYC comedy folks including Anna Drezen, Jo Firestone, Ana Fabrega, Julio Torres (who also co-wrote a good deal of the series), John Early, and more round out a great cast.

There are six episodes in total and you might not look at boy bands, or any reality show endeavor for that matter, the same way afterwards.

Or, if you have a pretty dark view on the music industry, maybe this would just redouble your feelings about the whole boy band model.

Either way, you should watch the whole series here.
