Amy Poehler’s First Book “Yes Please” Out Now

October 28, 2014
Uncategorized

That’s right, Amy Poehler’s very first book Yes Please has just come out today.

While Amy has done so many great, hysterical things in film, TV, improv, and comedy overall, not to mention all the good she does with Smart Girls at the Party, it would seem almost hard to believe that this is only her first book. However, we’re sure that she’s well on her way to writing plenty of books taking from her own life, dishing out her own advice, and more.

So, pick up Yes Please today, which will also definitely make a great companion to Tina Fey’s Bossypants.

Amy Poehler Producing Another Comedy Project at NBC and Joins Legendary’s Digital Division with “Smart Girls At The Party”

For quite some time, Amy Poehler has been doing quite well for herself or, as some might say, killing it.

This week has been a particularly good display of that as Legendary Entertainment acquired Poehler’s Smart Girls At The Party and she is set to produce another comedy at NBC along with Aisha Muharrar.

So, there will be even more Smart Girls At The Party content to be made and a comedy project following an agnostic woman who has to deal with the inheritance of a church.

These two announcements come on top of the release of Poehler’s book Yes Please, executive producing the second season of Broad City, and probably a million other amazing things that she has wonderfully hidden up her sleeve.

Disney Pixar, above most other studios, has found a way to consistently be adorable across a wide age range. In the first teaser for their upcoming film Inside Out, they showcase how they’ve done that over the last several years as well as showing how Inside Out will be no different.

With Amy Poehler as the voice of the emotion of joy and Lewis Black as the voice of the emotion of anger, how could you not find this adorable.

Last night on The Late Show with David Letterman, Tina Fey sat down and chatted with Dave about the havoc that her youngest daughter is currently wreaking. Fey also discussed a fool proof plan for nude photos in the event that they were stolen from her and leaked to the Internet.

On top of all of that, she found out that the movie that her and Amy Poehler are starring in, The Nest, might be going up against Star Wars Episode VII in theaters next Christmas.

Needless to say, Fey isn’t worried about it all about handling her crazed daughter, taking down Star Wars on opening weekend and outsmarting celebrity photo thieves.

Amy Poehler will be doing something atypical of audiobooks, but probably should be done more often: reading live.

Her upcoming book Yes Please set for release on Oct. 28th is currently on pre-order and she is, tonight, reading a chapter in front of a live audience at the UCB Theatre here in LA, which sure is to be a good time for both the audience and the listener later. Maybe future audiobooks might be done entirely in multiple sessions in front of live crowds?

For now, the reservations for Poehler’s live reading are full, but there is a wait list right now.

Maya Rudolph Is Now Joining Her Pals Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in The Nest

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler making a movie together is already exciting enough news, which makes Universal’s The Nest an already highly anticipated comedy.

Now that they’re former SNL cast mate Maya Rudolph has been added to the cast, The Nest will possibly be more fun when it’s already seeming that it will be a wire-to-wire fun movie. We wouldn’t be surprised if the cast for this will keep getting better and better.

Amy Poehler’s Book “Yes Please” Gets Cover and Is Now on Pre-Order

The amazing Amy Poehler has so much going on right now with producing a handful of series, starring in others, roasting Don Rickles, and now coming out with a book. Yes Please will feature stories as well as her thoughts on life. It’s on pre-order right now for an October release, if you want to get Yes Please as soon as possible.

We wonder if a year after its release, they’ll sell Yes Please in a pack with Tina Fey‘s Bossypants?

Rachel Dratch, Andrea Martin, and James Urbaniak Join USA Pilot Difficult People Starring Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner

With just the cast of Klausner and Eichner, and now Rachel Dratch, Andrea Martin, and James Urbaniak joining in, we’d already be thrilled at the prospect of how good Difficult People could be.

What makes this even more exciting is that Amy Poehler is producing this, which it makes it hard for us to think that USA Network wouldn’t pick this up.

Basically, if you are unaware, Tina Fey is pretty amazing. Just from this interview at Late Night with Seth Meyers, Tina talks about rushing from one benefit to honor/roast Don Rickles with Amy Poehler, her predictions for the future of late night, dealing with her writers as a head writer at SNL, and, on top of all of that, being a mom.

Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner are set to star in (and as) Difficult People, a comedy pilot presentation for USA Network with Amy Poehler executive producing.

Given all the elements involved, we have a hard time imagining this wouldn’t go to series at USA.

Watch Trailer for Meta Rom Com “They Came Together” with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler

For those of you tired of the rom com genre being so repetitive that merely A-list stars take turns having roles in different locales where two “unlikely” people fall in love, then David Wain and Michael Showalter’s They Came Together starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler might just be for you.

Just watch the trailer over at Buzzfeed (in the link above) and see for yourself. They Came Together is coming out on Jun. 27th, the same day as Transformers: Age of Extinction, but we can only hope that a stereotypical rom com also comes out on the same date.

We can only hope that they’ll find their next hit comedy series to follow Parks and Recreation and Community for next year.

Amy Poehler Teaming Up with Tina Fey Again in The Nest

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are at it yet again by co-starring in an upcoming film, The Nest. It’s a year between every Golden Globes and we don’t think the general public or the world really wants to wait that long for the two to join forces once more.

Poehler and Fey would probably do more stuff together but they both have network overall deals as well as starring in a bunch of other projects, left and right.

Amidst NBC’s numerous moves to reconfigure their comedy branding over the last couple of years, we’re glad to see that Parks and Recreation is sticking around for a seventh season.

Leave it to Amy Poehler to add Ellen Burstyn to the cast of Natasha Lyonne, Rita Moreno, Fred Willard, and Nick Thune, in her comedy pilot Old Soul at NBC to be directed David Wain.

We know that this post is almost identical to our post about Old Soul casting yesterday, but Poehler and co. just keep making it better and better thus necessitating us to almost repeat ourselves.

We hope that we get to see this relatively soon whether it gets a series order, which we sincerely are hoping for, or not.

Tuesday, Feb. 25: Guests Kanye West and author Robyn Doolittle (Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story).
Wednesday, Feb. 26: Guests Kelly Ripa, Brad Paisley and musical guest Brad Paisley.
Thursday, Feb. 27: Guests Lena Dunham, Anthony Mackie and musical guest John Mayer Trio.
Friday, Feb. 28: Guests Ian McKellen & Patrick Stewart, Sophia Bush and comedian Michael Che.

Also, Fred Armisen will be leading what will be known as The 8G Band (referencing the studio they’re performing in, not $8000), the rest of which you can get to know here.

So, this news will make it Natasha Lyonne and Rita Moreno in a comedy pilot together produced by Amy Poehler and put Old Soul into an even higher profile this pilot season than it already is.

If this gets picked up, maybe there will be a crossover episode between Amy’s other series she produces, Broad City.
