Soon, Party Down Will Be on Hulu Plus

August 27, 2014
Uncategorized

(via Deadline)

Hulu has scored by getting exclusive rights to stream Party Down starting Friday. If you have Hulu Plus, you’ll get to watch the whole series at your leisure. Even if you don’t have Hulu Plus, the first five episodes of Party Down will be available to watch for free on Hulu for a little while.

So, if Hulu is really pushing for people to pay for a Hulu Plus subscription, this is a pretty damn good move.

Michael Che Tries to Find the Safest Place to Report on Ferguson

Being gone for the entire saga of the death of Michael Brown and the subsequent ordeals that has followed in Ferguson, MO, The Daily Show pretty much did their entire episode last night when returning from vacation on that very topic.

However, being on the ground in Ferguson to see what it’s like right now is a story in of itself according to The Daily Show’s Michael Che. Watch it here.

The Simple Solution to Road Rage as Demonstrated by Women Comedy

It’s so easy to fall into the phenomenon known as road rage. Another car doing anything that’s the least bit unexpected could potentially throw you into a tirade of bigotry and threats. In fact, it’s such a cavalcade of hate speech, it’s kind of amazing that most people can string that many derogatory words into coherent thoughts.

Sketch group Women has a very simple solution for that. Watch it here.

Jake Flores’ Debut Comedy Album “Humours” Out Now

Years ago, we saw Jake Flores at a diversity showcase and thought he was hysterical and pointedly different from everyone else, even though he was already on a “diversity” showcase. Then, because he was living in Austin, TX at the time and we’re here in LA, we didn’t see him for awhile until just recently.

In that time, we’re glad to find that Flores has moved to Brooklyn and released his debut comedy album Humours from Stand Up! Records as well as having the same weirdly, dark sense of humor that we saw all those years ago.

So, with that said, get Humours.

A Ton of Celebrities and Comedians Sing a Farewell to Chelsea Handler and Chelsea Lately

Last night was the very last episode in Chelsea Handler’s 7 year run at E! as the titular host of Chelsea Lately. To mark the occasion, she got 50 Cent, Miley Cyrus, Tim Gunn, Gwen Stefani, Dave Grohl, Melissa McCarthy, Sandra Bullock, Gerard Butler, Fergie, Jennifer Aniston, Avril Lavigne and so many other A-listers as well as so many of the comedians who have been/worked on the show including Fortune Feimster, Kurt Braunohler, Sarah Colonna, Kevin Nealon, Ian Karmel, Claire Titleman, Matt Braunger, Ron Funches, and way more to do a big farewell musical number.

It’s a touching sentiment that all these people came together and sang a song all about Chelsea Handler, but we would like to point out that around 1:27, TJ Miller is wearing the best suit ever and around 2:15, Natasha Leggero might be holding the best portrait that’s ever been held up during a farewell song.

FX Orders “Baskets” from Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K., and Jonathan Krisel to Series

With another Emmy win for Louie, FX is smartly furthering their business with Louis C.K. as they have just picked up Baskets, executively produced by C.K., Zach Galifianakis, and Portlandia director Jonathan Krisel, to series.

Galifianakis will star as a man who leaves the corporate world to pursue a life of becoming a professional clown. So, maybe it’s hovering somewhere around Being John Malkovich minus all the body snatching with a focus on clowning instead of puppetry?

Either way, we have a really great feeling about this.

While FX has Denis Leary’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll already ordered to series and Showtime has ordered a pilot of Cameron Crowe’s Roadies, this wave of rock sitcoms doesn’t stop with those two.

Fox TV has gotten on board with this trend and has just bought a project from Psych’s Steve Franks and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo. It will be based on Cuomo’s life going from rock stardom back to college of his own volition.

If this goes to series, it will be a great accompaniment to the web series that follows a Weezer cover band called The Undone Sweaters.

For now, she’s only a writer, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see her as a full SNL cast member.

Superego Tries to Record a Few Commercials with “Country Star” Shunt McGuppin

Country music here in the U.S. has always done things it’s way. If Toby Keith names his bar Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, it might be reasonable to assume a country star reading copy for commercials, might likely put his own country spin on it.

Perhaps that’s just Superego’s own country star Shunt McGuppin that does that. Either way, ads could do better with a little bit of twang, Shunt McGuppin style.

Watch McGuppin and Superego attempt to get a through a few pages of ads hopefully without any censoring.
