Superego Wants You To Check Out God’s Crazy Monsters

You’re watching Superego’s animated series at the Nerdist channel, right? It’s pretty fantastic, just like you’d expect from Superego.

They’re latest episode is no different, with guest Thomas Lennon, as they attempt an ad for the non-Sunoco affliated God’s Crazy Monsters museum. Watch it here.

Weird Al Yankovic’s New Album Mandatory Fun Out on July 15th

It’s been a while, three years in fact, since we last heard a collection of great song parodies from the one and only Weird Al Yankovic. Luckily, we don’t need to wonder when and if there’s another album as he has a new album coming out next month called Mandatory Fun.

There are no track listings as of yet, so it’s all speculation as to what he might be parodying, but we’re excited that the release is only a few weeks away.

Enter Your Comedy Short Into Ryan Singer’s “Flick My Clip”

The amazing Ryan Singer has been putting together, for years now, his own personal film festival of sorts by taking submissions and then showcasing them at various other festivals.

He calls it Flick My Clip and so long as you have a comedy short that’s under 5 min., has no copyrighted music, submitted by July 7th, hasn’t been previously submitted, then you should submit. So far, Flick My Clip will run at FilmDayton Festival and The Cincinnati Film Festival.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler Responds to John Oliver’s Net Neutrality Segment

John Oliver is definitely affecting change as the FCC’s Tom Wheeler had to address, in an official capacity, Oliver’s jokes about him during a segment on net neutrality on Last Week Tonight. In the segment, Oliver suggested that Wheeler is like a dingo in that you shouldn’t leave a dingo with your baby just like you shouldn’t leave Wheeler as the chairman of the FCC having be a former lobbyist for cable and wireless companies.

Wheeler felt it prudent during some sort of hearing that he should address the issue of his identity as a human or a dingo. Unlike Donald Rumsfield avoiding Louis C.K.’s lizard question, Wheeler earned himself another segment on Last Week Tonight with making an official statement.

So, UCB Is Going to Have a New Space Near Sunset Blvd. x Western Ave.

There’s a building on the north side of Sunset Blvd., less than a block East of Western Ave. that has Upright Citizen Brigade posted on it in big bold letters. We’re guessing that’s it going to be a supplementary performance space for UCB, but no official announcement has been made.

However, new businesses can try to get in on being next to this new space, whatever it is.

John Oliver Goes All the Way to Cambridge to Chat with Stephen Hawking

John Oliver did indeed interview the legendary Stephen Hawking on Last Week Tonight. Their discourse consisted of AI, the fate of the planet, and imaginary time, but Oliver seemed pretty concerned to see what the theoretical chances are to get with Charlize Theron. Turns out Hawking or his “sentient computer” are pretty good in engaging in a witty repartee with Oliver.

Watch the extended interview here.

Maya Rudolph Is Now Joining Her Pals Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in The Nest

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler making a movie together is already exciting enough news, which makes Universal’s The Nest an already highly anticipated comedy.

Now that they’re former SNL cast mate Maya Rudolph has been added to the cast, The Nest will possibly be more fun when it’s already seeming that it will be a wire-to-wire fun movie. We wouldn’t be surprised if the cast for this will keep getting better and better.

‘The Powerpuff Girls’ to Return with New Series in 2016

Almost 10 years since it ended, The Powerpuff Girls are now set for a return to Cartoon Network. It’ll be fascinating to see what The Powerpuff Girls will be like considering how widely appealing of a cartoon it was when it first premiered back in 1998 and how Cartoon Network is much different place with Adult Swim being a major portion of the network.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2016 to find out.

Go Through A Moving Portrait Exhibit of Comedians with Scott Moran’s Comedian Screen Tests

Scott Moran, the force behind Modern Comedian, has made a new web series where he captures 4 to 5 minutes of a comedian in front of a camera sans audio. They just inhabit the frame as they choose, much like you would see them in perhaps an animated portrait in a gallery exhibit at a museum.

So far, he’s gotten comedian screen tests of Hannibal Buress, Rory Scovel, Jim Gaffigan, Kristen Schaal, Nick Turner, Colin Quinn, Kurt Braunohler, Jared Logan, Shock G, and Chris Distefano.

If you can afford it, you definitely should have these all playing on separate screens in a gallery on a loop.

John Moe’s Makes a Book Out of Pop Culture Correspondences “Dear Luke, We Need To Talk. Darth”

We posted a clip from Wits with John Moe earlier today and, if you liked that, you’ll probably like his book of letters “written” by pop culture’s biggest figures from one to the other, Dear Luke, We Need To Talk. Darth. As the title suggests, there are letters like Darth Vader writing a letter to Luke Skywalker about something important that he wants to tell him.

So, it’s like all those books of war letters, but made perfectly for the pop culture obsessed 21st century and that’s why we think you should give it a read.

Aziz Ansari Going on Modern Romance Tour Across North America Next Month

From July through October, Aziz Ansari will be stoping by throughout the U.S. and stopping by Montreal, Canada as well for his Modern Romance tour. The title isn’t a slick label for the tour, but very reflective of the material Aziz is laser focused on right now, which we’re enjoying quite a bit here in LA.

Tickets are now on sale and, hopefully, more dates will be added soon.
