Sara Benincasa is great. Body positivity is great. That’s all you should need to know to support the making of this short film.

Called “The Focus Group”, Sara will show in a short film how a focus group would analyze her body and show how ridiculous many beauty standards are today.

The Kickstarter campaign is looking to raise $9000 currently at $7355 as of this post. There’s three weeks to go before the campaign ends on Apr. 16th.

You can donate here.

You may be sad that the show is gone, but you can binge watch repeatedly now on Netflix.

Garfunkel and Oates, the series on IFC is indeed gone, but Netflix has taken the series in and you can stream it at your convenience.

Be sure to remember, Riki and Kate aren’t done as a great music duo.

Yes, that puts The LEGO Movie franchise at a potential 7 movies, even though none of the sequels or spin-offs have been released yet.

LEGO Movie 2-4 have already been added to the slate as well as a Ninjago and a LEGO Batman spin-off. Now Warner Bros. has added a third spin-off to the franchise that will be co-written by Jason Segel and Drew Pearce called Billion Brick Race.

No details to the plot are available yet, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee are on board to produce and hopefully keep the fun, innovative, meta tone of the first movie consistent throughout the franchise.

Watch “The Roast of Ron Lynch” as a Great Reminder of Traditional Roasts

While the upcoming Roast of Justin Bieber is a night of taking on a highly divisive figure with all the insults and verbal barbs that professional insult and verbal barb makers can muster as physical abuse is illegal, there was a time where roasts were for the ones you love.

The Roast of Ron Lynch wonderfully harkens back to that time.

Ron Lynch is, whether you or Ron knows it or not, an American comedy treasure and, as such, a roast in his honor was held a few weeks back at Trepany House @ The Steve Allen Theater. In attendance was a dais of his friends and contemporaries including Emo Philips, Chuck Sklar, Kevin Kataoka, Brendon Small, Joe Wagner, Katie Crown, The Walsh Brothers, Davey Johnson, and more.

They all took their approach of making fun of Ron and each other, saying something heartfelt, Ron expertly responding, and, as you might imagine made it a night to never forget.

Watch and enjoy a classic roast of a great comedian here.

Relativity Media  To Do Indian Remakes of Their Film Properties Including “Masterminds” with Zach Galifianakis

China is not the only giant film market that American companies are trying to break into. India’s got a booming film business and Relativity Media is going to attempt to bridge their way into it with Indian remakes which will include the heist comedy Masterminds starring Zach Galifianakis and more.

Other comedies that could potentially get a similar remake are Take Me Home Tonight, Movie 43, Hector and the Search for Happiness, and Don Jon.

One can only wonder will look like with Indian stars, done in Indian languages, and done in the Bollywood arena where CGI effects go crazy and singing and dancing are still very popular.

OK, if they keep having fun like this at The Late Late Show with James Corden, they’re headed in the right direction.

Utilizing bandleader Reggie Watts for absurdist bits, putting Corden in situations with real folks, and planning some entirely unexpected surprises could be a winning combination for the new Late Late Show.

Just watch this best of DVD bit and Corden deliver pizza around Fairfax.

Key & Peele’s “Substitute Teacher” Movie Going Forward at Paramount

There were talks of this happening last year and whoever was holding their breath in the hopes of this happening can now exhale.

One of Key & Peele’s most popular characters, the veteran substitute teacher Mr. Garvey, is going to get a feature adaptation with Keegan Michael-Key as Garvey will face off teacher-a-teacher against Jordan Peele as antithetical, very likable teacher.

We can see montages of Garvey aggressively mispronouncing common names and Jordan pronouncing them correctly and then giving a positive affirmation to each student individually.

Lauren Lapkus and More Announce Outside Lands 2015 Line-up

More festival line-up announcements need to go like this.

In a similar fashion to SF Sketchfest’s line-up announcement video, The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival had fun playing with the idea of announcing the line-up as a mother played by Lauren Lapkus would tell you what’s going to be on the dinner table or other weirdly out-of-place scenes with the likes of Dave Theune and Demorge Brown to be discussing what acts will be playing a giants arts and music festival.

Watch the announcement video here. Then, you can get more details on Outside Lands, which runs from Aug. 7-9, here.

The estate of George Carlin is revamping the legendary comedian’s website and will bring rare and unreleased tracks from Carlin performances with it.

The GeorgeCarlin.com relaunch is scheduled for this Fri. Mar. 27th. From the sounds of it as well as all the work George’s daughter Kelly Carlin has done in his honor, that it might be a digital museum of sorts not unlike the revamped MitchHedberg.net.

We wonder if Ferrell is going to pull any stunts like he did with his Mark Twain Prize.

Will Ferrell will now deservedly join the rows and rows of stars and names along Hollywood Blvd. and it wouldn’t surprise us at all if he did something like stand by his star in costume to see if he could people to take a picture with him instead of the star.

And “The Late Late Show With James Corden” Begins With a Cool New Set, Clever Segments, and Sincerity

March 24, 2015
Uncategorized
james corden, mila kunis, premiere, reggie watts, the late late show, tom hanks

As far as we can tell, James Corden is off to a good start at The Late Late Show.

The premiere episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden aired last night and gave America a good showing of what Corden, bandleader Reggie Watts, and this new era of late night is all about as far they’re concerned.

These two segments of how Corden “got” the Late Late Show host gig and how he runs through this thorough retrospective of Tom Hanks’ career kick the show off to a fun, yet clever premiere.

</p>

Right off the bat, you’ll note the set doesn’t trying to relive some late night talk show sets of yesteryear, but instead is quite dark in its color palate and delightfully all over the place. See the checkered floor that Reggie and his band Karen play on.

Oh yeah, Reggie’s wonderful band is named, for now, Karen according to this interview with The A.V. Club and Reggie will seemingly get to bring some of the Comedy Bang! Bang! flavor to network television as shown by the one question he asked Hanks.

They definitely employ other things that slightly eschew traditional late night tropes like Corden’s monologue leaning more towards his predecessor Craig Ferguson’s style of being in the moment and coming from the heart. James also doesn’t sit behind the desk for the interview, interviewed both Tom Hanks and Mila Kunis at the same time sort of like The Graham Norton Show, and even had slick black cards instead of the traditional light blue that talk show hosts used to stay on point throughout the show.

Of course, this is just the premiere episode and all of this could end up changing, but it’s clear that, whatever happens, James will be completely genuine about it as you can see with his closing ballad.

You can watch the whole premiere here and see it all in its entirety for yourself.

Now Germany Is Getting In On Ripping Off Conan’s “Tull’s Tips”

Perhaps, you thought that a French late night talk show ripping off one of Conan’s popular segments would be the end of one of the more bizarre stories behind the curtain of late night.

Well, it’s not.

As it turns out, a German show has now done the same in-a-closet-DIY tips thing that Tull has done. It would almost seem that European late night talk shows might make this into an ongoing prank.

We’re not sure where it will end or if any of these shows will issue a sincere apology, but we do know that there might be a better case of plagiarism here than Blurred Lines from Got To Give It Up.

Well, you know this is going to be good.

Doug Stanhope is now set to write a memoir covering his relationship with his mother. If you’ve listened to or watched Stanhope’s latest special Beer Hall Putsch, you know that this will probably be as an unfiltered, darkly comedic collection of personal tales as Stanhope has ever told about his mom.

However, you’re going to have to wait until a year from now in Apr. 2016 for its publication. Still, we’re guessing it’s going to be worth the wait.

One would think that with 26-season-and-counting run and a cemented status as a legendary show, not just within the animated comedy genre, but among the entire TV canon, The Simpsons would have be the spark behind more podcasts.

After all, we can’t even count how many podcasts there are about just professional wrestling.

We could only find a couple of random Simpsons focused podcast before today.

Luckily, Simpsons superfans and comedians Allie Goertz and Julia Prescott have started the Everything’s Coming Up Podcast where they will chat with comics, writers, animators etc. about their favorite episode of The Simpsons.

The first episode is already up and you can follow Everything Coming Up Podcast on Facebook and Twitter.

CBS Television City runs a tight ship and will make sure that the premiere of The Late Late Show with James Corden will go off with a hitch, making sure no stragglers wander in.

Any stragglers whatsoever.

Even with all of James Corden’s accolades and massive following back in the UK, he’s still working on making himself into a household name here in the States and is starting off with the guard at the CBS Television City’s front gate.

Make sure to catch the premiere tonight at 12:35AM with guests Tom Hanks and Mila Kunis following The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS.
