Mark Gagliardi Returns to Drunk History to Tell The Story of Bass Reeves While Lying on the Floor

One of the original and go to narrators for Drunk History is Mark Gagliardi. Thus, what would this latest season be without him attempting to recount an oft-overlooked annal in history if not incomplete.

Mark sure came through with the story of Bass Reeves, a man of such Wild West legend that a fictitious legend was based off of him, as well as professions of love, lying face down on the floor, etc.

Watch it all in its Drunk History glory here.

Any takers on if he’ll do something funny on stage like every other Mark Twain Prize recipient has done when receiving the award?

For his storied career as a barrier breaking stand-up comedian, comedic actor years ago, Eddie Murphy will be the latest to receive the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for Humor from The Kennedy Center. He’ll be joining the ranks of Richard Pryor, Carl Reiner, Carol Burnett, Will Ferrell, George Carlin, and more this weekend.

We’ll be curious to see where Murphy will head next after receiving one of comedy’s top honors, especially seeing where he has gone after his Spike TV tribute or his very brief appearance after Chris Rock’s heartfelt speech about him at The SNL 40th Anniversary.

For $3.99 a month, it looks like you’ll be getting quite a lot.

Starting in January, NBC will be officially launching Seeso, which will not only offer ad free access to all seasons of The Office, Parks and Recreation, Kids in the Hall, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, The Mighty Boosh, SNL, and more, but also feature boat loads of new content and shows exclusive to Seeso.

Starting off with 20 new series from the likes of Dan Harmon, Amy Poelher/Ian Roberts/Matt Walsh/Matt Besser, Scott Aukerman, Cameron Esposito/Rhea Butcher, Wyatt Cenac, Tom Lennon, Ben Garant, Kulap Vilaysack, Jonah Ray, they’ll feature anything from scripted sitcoms, live stand-up, travel shows with a comedian, reality show parodies, and more.

It would almost seem that the whole of all of this represents the comedy that has been missing from NBC’s line-up for awhile.

They’ll also be bringing a curated collection of movies and series into the Seeso fold as well.

Sound good? Good. Well, make sure you start saving $3.99 a month after Christmas then.

“Roommates” Greg Barris and Bridey Elliott Violate Some Personal Boundaries You Probably Didn’t Know Existed

When having roommates, having ground rules for each other’s personal boundaries goes without saying. Well, the actual ground rules are said, but the idea of having them is pretty much common law.

With that being said, people like Greg Barris and Bridey Elliott in their web series Roommates have some rules that most folks probably don’t have to go through because they’re probably relatively normal/well-adjusted/same age/gender.

Watch the latest episode of Roommates to see what lines get crossed between two of the most mismatched people ever.

Showtime Finally Picks Up Cameron Crowe’s “Roadies” to Series

(via Deadline)

Despite a major casting change and a shift to an hour long format, Cameron Crowe’s Roadies is going to see the light of a slot on Showtime’s programming schedule.

It seems like it has been quite awhile since Crowe embarked on making a TV show even though it has only been a year since it was announced that he was doing a comedy based on the lives of ‘roadies’ at Showtime.

Now, Carla Gugino will fill in the lead role originally occupied by Christina Hendricks and the show itself will be an hour long workplace-ish comedy that sees big rock concerts through the eyes of those literally setting the stage.

We’ll get to see exactly what Crowe has cooked up in 2016.

Die Hard Will Ferrell Fans Open up a Will Ferrell Themed Bar in NYC’s LES

Of course, it’s called Stay Classy.

Commissioned art and curated cocktails with various Will Ferrell references are the order of the day for Stay Classy located now in NYC’s Lower East Side.

Believe it or not, this isn’t some grandiose stunt put on by Will Ferrell, but rather some of Ferrell’s biggest fans in Zach Neil and Brian Link to honor their comedy hero.

That’s dedication that’s matched only by Ferrell’s dedication to doing bits.

Our only question now is if they’re intending to open a San Diego location.

Classy decor, formal attire, flowing libations, musical numbers, and Sofia Coppola are things that we’d guess would figure into a Christmas party that Bill Murray would throw.

Also, George Clooney, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Rock, Amy Poehler, Miley Cyrus, Michael Cera, Maya Rudolph, Paul Shaffer, and Rashida Jones might be in attendance.

So, why should the Christmas special A Very Murray Christmas be any different than that? Answer: It shouldn’t.

Watch this latest teaser to see what we mean, then look for the special on Netflix come Dec. 4th.

If you’ve ever marveled at how Daniels can be both in The Newsroom and Dumb and Dumber, marvel in more how it can do it in this Late Late Show with James Corden bit.

ABC Is Developing a Meta Family Sitcom from Modern Family’s Danny Zuker

It’s being touted as a Larry Sanders Show for family sitcoms, which is a welcome change of pace.

Veteran sitcom writer Danny Zuker not only works on Modern Family, one of the most critically and commercially successful comedies on TV right now, but is now developing his own sitcom that shows a TV family and the not-so-rosy underbelly of that same family in real life called Family Show.

While you get to see a bit of that on shows like BoJack Horseman, seeing a high concept like that at ABC, where Modern Family happens to also be, is very intriguing to see.

Luckily, it has a put pilot commitment and we’ll get to see what Zuker is cooking up.

Part of the reason for his longevity of the show and that the collective rage and frustration is so consistently, hilariously pitch perfect and his first Back in Black on the Trevor Noah hosted Daily Show is no different.

The latest adventure of Gigi from IFC’s Gigi Does It is into the world of art, specifically sketching people.

Even for an independent, newly rich grandma, she might surprise you.

As Lena Dunham has hinted at Girls possibly coming to a close in the not so distant future, HBO has made the smart move in keeping her around.

If Girls ends, the feminist comedy streak at HBO might keep going with Dunham’s latest project which delves into second wave feminism in 1963. Explored through the lens of a magazine writer played by Lisa Joyce, Max intrigues us as a 60s period piece as well as a progression of Dunham as a sort of a TV auteur.

Brett Davis Wins This Year’s Andy Kaufman Award

It’s almost fitting that the guy who does a late night talk show on public access as a different character every week because the original version of himself was “murdered” in the first episode won The Andy Kaufman Award.

That’s right, Brett Davis, the man behind the various folks that host The Special Without Brett Davis, took home the oft-coveted Andy Kaufman Award for 2015. Having seen what Brett has done with the MNN slot that once was filled by The Chris Gethard Show, we’re confident he’ll hold up the lineage of Kristen Schaal, Reggie Watts, Brent Weinbach, Nick Vatterott, and more as an Andy Kaufman Award winner.

Oh, in case you haven’t been doing so already, now would be a great time to follow everything that Brett’s doing.

It would seem that it takes very little time for Wes Anderson to assemble a stellar cast.

Bryan Cranston is being brought into the Wes Anderson fold along with Jeff Goldblum, Bob Balaban, and Edward Norton for Anderson’s latest movie involving dogs and stop motion animation.

Let your imagination run wild with the possibilities of them voicing ultra clever dialogue as dogs. Personally, we’re fixated on imagining them at a poke table like in one of C.M. Coolidge’s famous paintings.

Donald Trump returns to host #SNL November 7 with musical guest @Sia! pic.twitter.com/kreVe6iSpD

11 years ago when Donald Trump wasn’t running for president, he hosted Saturday Night Live.

Now, in 2015, the circumstances are much different and the stakes are arguably higher as The Donald will take on hosting duties on SNL yet again on Nov. 7th.

If anything, it’ll be interesting to see how they handle the division between NBC and Trump (i.e. no longer hosting The Apprentice).

Do take note that SNL has handled politicians with an agenda hosting the show on more than one occasion.

Nathan Fielder Insists He’s Not Copying The Blacklist’s Billboard

Last week, Nathan Fielder unveiled the billboard to promote the new, upcoming season of his show Nathan For You. The billboard had such a striking resemblance to a billboard from NBC’s The Blacklist that any and all that saw it took it as parody.

However, while on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Fielder stresses in every which way he can that he’s not ripping off The Blacklist billboard.

It’s all just more genius meta level marketing from Nathan, which is probably the best reason for you tuning to the season 3 premiere on Comedy Central this Thursday at 10PM.
