There’s a ‘Rick and Morty’ Mobile Game “Pocket Mortys” Coming Out Next Week

No need for conflict. It’s REAL, Morty. On January 14th, POCKET MORTYS comes to iOS and Android. pic.twitter.com/UNFM4P4WLH

We’re not sure of any details of when anything involving the third season of the fantastic Rick & Morty will start. So, it might be awhile before we see the multitude of universes have to deal with Rick and Morty passing through.

However, according to this tweet from Dan Harmon, there is a mobile game that will be available on iOS and Android that might bridge the gap from now until whenever it is we hear anything about season 3. It’s called Pocket Mortys.

We know that there is multiple Ricks and Mortys, so no surprises there. However, as to the rest of the game, we’re excited to find out with the rest of you the exact when it comes out Thurs. Jan. 14th.

HBO and Lena Dunham Agree to End “Girls” After Season 6

(via Deadline)

It’s interesting to see that 9-10 seasons was sort of a goal for sitcoms in the 90s and, in this millennium, 6 seasons is the now the benchmark for a landmark series.

Lena Dunham has got so many other things going that we’re not even aware of the full scope of what she’s working on. On top of Girls, she’s got a career as an author, movies, Lenny Letter, cameos on other shows like Scandal,

So, knowing that and knowing the journey that Hannah Horvath and company have gone through over the last few years makes it seem just about right that Dunham and HBO are coming in for a final landing on the series.

Don’t start getting remiss and teary eyed quite yet as season five hasn’t even premiered yet.

Never one for convention, David Cross seems to make a specific point to mess with whoever is interviewing him when asked about the specifics of his show, Todd Margaret.

He made no exception when he showed up on The Daily Show last night.

Cross also announced his international tour, but we already sort of tipped you off to that.

Twitter Might Have New Feature That Allows 10,000 Character Tweets

January 5, 2016
Uncategorized
10000 characters, twitter

(via Variety)

How much more of a joke can fit in 10,000 characters?

For comedians of any ilk, Twitter offers a platform for tweeting joke premises or jokes. Sometimes, they even establish a different off-shoot of their comedy altogether that involve something like RT’ing corporations that offer well wishes on 9/11 like Joe Mande. It has given a whole new generation of comedy a different way to be funny and has helped get people like Megan Amram and Rob Delaney notoriety that circumvented many industry gatekeepers.

With a potential 10,000 feature that might come up for the microblogging giant that simultaneously would allow much longer jokes, entire stories, rants, much longer lists, even more complicated emoji messages, etc. The effect, whether positive or negative, which might take away from the brevity that is at the core of Twitter’s brand, would have to be seen if Twitter opts to go forward with this move.

Just to give you some perspective, this whole post is 829 characters.

This upgraded second season of The Chris Gethard Show is set to premiere this Spring and we can’t wait to see what crazy stuff Gethard will have up his sleeve and/or try to pull off and/or be completely blindsided by thanks to his staff now that they have an entire hour.

Teaser for Judd Apatow, Lesley Arfin, and Paul Rust’s “Love” Teases 2016 Resolutions

There isn’t any footage from the show or any footage of anything at all really in this teaser for Netflix’s new comedy series Love from Judd Apatow, Lesley Arfin, and Paul Rust.

Instead, there’s a montage of title cards that offer some more realistic resolutions. We’re guessing that’s a list of issues that are going to come up in the series between its stars Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs. Let your imagination run wild with that until a proper trailer drops.

Look for Love to start streaming on Feb. 19th (note how that’s five whole days after Valentine’s Day).

Yahoo Screen To Be No More

That’s really too bad.

After Community’s latest season, SNL, Other Space, and Sin City Saints didn’t quite work out the way Yahoo wanted, Yahoo is calling it quits with their free streaming service, Yahoo Screen.

The SNL archive now rests online at Seeso and Other Space and Sin City Saints can be viewed within Yahoo rather than Yahoo Screen exclusively.

We guess this will have to be chalked up as an inevitable false start in the rise of streaming services to the prominence of networks and studios.

FX Orders Animated Comedy Pilot from Louis C.K. and Albert Brooks

FX is making the most out of their overall deal with Louis C.K.

With another season of Louie at some point, Baskets set to premiere near the end of this month, Better Things with Pamela Adlon in production, and probably several other projects that haven’t been publicly announced, FX and Louis C.K. have made quite the business relationship with each other.

The overall development deal he has at the network produced yet another project as C.K. is now working on an animated pilot with the great Albert Brooks. The pair will voice the lead roles, write, EP for this project, which is largely being kept under wraps, plot/premise wise, for now.

At this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if C.K. got head his own network/channel/streaming service/etc. spun off from FX.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Is Reupped Through 2020

This is particularly notable as only Jimmy Fallon has a longer contract in place as a talk show host.

While the boys fight it out on late night, Ellen DeGeneres has held her position in daytime on The Ellen DeGeneres Show quite firmly for several years now and a number of local TV affiliates have renewed their contracts for the next five years.

Fallon has one year up on Ellen as his next set of contract negotiations come in 2021, but Ellen has also got Ellentube and Finding Dory coming out this year.

While you might have said 2016 might be your year, it’s definitely going to be Ellen’s year.
