John Oliver Leaving The Daily Show to Star in HBO Show That Sounds a Lot Like The Daily Show

Just like that scene at the beginning of Inception where Cobb impresses Saito at the covert audition, HBO must have been really impressed with the Summer of John Oliver at The Daily Show and are giving him his own show that looks at politics, culture, and more (seemingly much like The Daily Show).

That only leaves us to wonder if there is a heir apparent in mind now for Jon Stewart?

“@midnight w/Chris Hardwick” Gets 40 Week Order From Comedy Central

We feel like this is one of the rare occasions where we had little doubt that a show like this would get renewed and then, that actually happened instead of us scratching our heads as to what networks are thinking by listening to increasingly irrelevant Nielsen ratings.

Well, we cannot wait for more “@midnight” coming soon as well as the barrel fun of awesome comedians that America will get to see for the first time.

Jack Black and Tim Robbins to Star in HBO Comedy ‘The Brink’

The HBO dark political thriller comedy from Jerry Weintraub, Jay Roach and Roberto Benabib now has a pretty solid starring cast in Jack Black and Tim Robbins and we can only hope that this could possibly be a Dr. Strangelove for television.

NBC Reviving ‘Last Comic Standing’ Again

NBC just doesn’t quite want to let go of the stand up comedy competition Last Comic Standing. The reason as to why, we’re not sure. Perhaps, they have some sort of graph that says that stand up has gotten significantly more popular in a target demographic over the last couple of years that Last Comic Standing went off the air or something.

Either way, we are excited to see it come back as the last season put James Adomian, Kurt Metzger, Myq Kaplan, Laurie Kilmartin, Tommy Johnagin, and more on national television.

FXX’s ‘Totally Biased’ Cancelled, Last Show To Air Tonight

This is sad news for what was shaping up to be quite a show. We hope W. Kamau Bell as well as the staff of Hari Kondabolu, Dwayne Kennedy, Kevin Avery, Eliza Skinner, Aparna Nancherla, Guy Branum, Kevin Katoaka, Louis Katz, Frank Conniff and more will find another way to be on TV again because they were all pretty great.

Watch the last episode tonight at 11PM, so watch it if you happen to have FXx.

NBC Orders Maya Rudolph Variety Pilot For Post-Olympics Special

This means simultaneously, after The Olympics, Jimmy Fallon will take over The Tonight Show, Seth Meyers will take over Late Night, and Maya Rudolph will do a variety show special that hopefully, possibly could include her Prince cover band, Princess.

We’re hoping this will top whatever the closing ceremonies are.

This only makes too much sense and we hope it hits screens soon, whatever it is.

All you have to do is make it through Thanksgiving and Black Friday and you’ll get to watch the highly anticipated cartoon (which you get a sneak preview next week at Largo if you’re in LA) that will have plenty of people making side-by-side .gifs with Back to the Future for having been partially inspired by it.

Let’s hope they get featured a bunch in the trailer.

Bill Cosby Looking To Do Family Sitcom/Reboot ‘Fat Albert’

For as tired as we are with multi-camera sitcoms based around family dynamics these days, we’d still watch one from the legendary Bill Cosby. He’s working on developing something for networks to hopefully put on their slate.

With this and his special coming out later this month, looks like the next year is going to a thankfully (even more) busy (as he tours much of the year) one for Cosby.

Sony Supposedly Set To Start Shooting Ghostbusters 3 In Cleveland Come Spring

Whatever your feelings of Bill Murray being left out of the film, we all hope it’s just all an elaborate prank for Bill to “crash” (you know how he likes to do that) the set if they indeed do start shooting Ghostbusters 3 next year and all will be right with the Ghostbusters universe almost 25 years since Ghostbusters 2.

Watch The Third Installment of ‘The Greatest Event in Television History’

Honestly, we think they might have done it. Adam Scott, Jason Mantzoukas, Jon Glaser, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, Chelsea Peretti, Jeff Probst, and Seth Morris might have made the ‘Greatest Event in Television History’ on Adult Swim last night…

…or they might have just made another really funny attempt at doing at shot for shot remake of the opening credits of an old sitcom, this time “Too Close For Comfort”.

Watch it in full at the link.

Fox Developing Comedy Written by Bruce McCullouch, Starring Molly Shannon

We’ve been saying over the last few weeks that Fox has been really killing it in terms of their comedy development slate, bringing in projects that already sound enticing to watch.

Well, this show that Molly Shannon will star in and produce, written by Kids in the Hall’s Bruce McCullouch who will also produce definitely falls into that category.

ABC Buys Comedy That Kristen Schaal Will Be Starring In & Writing From Chris Miller & Phil Lord

Good job ABC for adding one of the most intriguing projects this development season centered around the amazing Kristen Schaal. The show could be her doing Kristen Schaal is a Horse with Kurt Braunohler over and over and it would be something worth watching.

Yet, the project is even more fascinating, possibly more high concept than that, and called “American Monster”.
