Monty Python Live Reunion Happening Next Summer

So, during summer 2014, Monty Python will come out for their already highly anticipated live reunion (you can buy tickets starting next week), which is also being planned for a DVD release for the millions of us that won’t be able to be in London for what is sure to be one of the biggest comedy events of all of next year.

Comedy Central Orders ‘The Chris Gethard Show’ Pilot from Funny or Die and Zach Galifianakis

Sure, there’s plenty of paperwork to be done and Comedy Central does have to see a pilot (it’s not like there’s 116 episodes of it lying around anywhere, right?), but we can only hope this amazing news becomes even more amazing sooner rather than later by getting to The Chris Gethard Show as a full fledged television show.

Also, please note that Funny or Die, as far as we’re concerned, is swinging a pretty great batting average on TV with Billy on the Street, “@midnight w/Chris Hardwick”, and hopefully The Chris Gethard Show.

This means along with “@midnight with Chris Hardwick”, American is going to see some great comedians that they hardly know about it.

Congrats on Adam DeVine’s House Party on getting picked up for another whole season.

Please Watch These Clips of No, You Shut Up with Paul F. Tompkins

Paul F. Tompkins’ new show on Fusion is pretty great if you haven’t seen it yet or got around to getting Fusion on your TV.

Basically, Tompkins discusses big time issues with puppets (i.e. immigration reform with an alien puppet) and there are a few clips of it to watch at Fusion.net that you should absolutely watch right now.

CBS Jim Gaffigan Pilot to Have Zimbabwe Catholic Priest Character

Since CBS has revived Jim Gaffigan’s pilot, there’s been some retooling and recasting. This it turns out that Gaffigan’s show will have a Zimbabwean priest, which we’re absolutely sure will add another layer to any food jokes Jim makes.

Ron Livingston to Star in Indie ‘Supreme Ruler’

If anything, we just imagine that this is the role in an indie dramedy with a solid cast of Vincent D’Onofrio and Marcia Gay Harden that the Ron Livingston in Office Space dreamed of playing.

Marc Maron and Ryan Singer in Bob Dylan’s Interactive Music Video for Like a Rolling Stone

If you haven’t seen the new super interactive video for Bob Dylan’s classic Like a Rolling Stone, do yourself a favor and do go watch that now. Also, while flipping through the channels (that’s right, you can flip through channels in the same music video-it will all make sense when you go watch it) is a “channel” of Marc Maron seemingly taping an episode of WTF with guest Ryan Singer mouthing the words to the song.

If that isn’t enough for you, Drew Carey while on the Price Is Right is also in there.

Bill Burr and Al Madrigal to Host a Live Garage Sale Benefit

All Things Comedy’s Bill Burr and Al Madrigal are set to host a garage sale of stuff via Laffster tomorrow they don’t need anymore, which should be endless entertainment on it’s own, for the Wounded Warrior Project charity.

Check out the sale tomorrow for the simple fact that you get to see Bill go through old stuff and you’re benefitting the troops.

Lake Bell To Star In Rom-Com ‘Man Up’ Opposite Simon Pegg

While the idea of a romantic comedy called ‘Man Up’ could conjure up the image of stereotypical rom com that’s often written off as a chick flick, Lake Bell and Simon Pegg co-starring in ‘Man Up’ could make for something much more atypical and enjoyable.

Gary Sanchez Buy June Diane Raphael & Casey Wilson Feature Pitch

June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson expand their comedy empire by pushing forward on both TV and film fronts with this latest sale to Gary Sanchez Productions (Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s film productions co.) and that’s more than fine with us.

Patton Oswalt to Host Spirit Awards

The Independent Spirit Awards has had quite the decidedly more bold (and often times more fun) choices for host over the years.

John Waters, Sarah Silverman, Steve Coogan, Joel McHale, Seth Rogen, and more have taken the Spirit Awards stage as the host and we can’t wait to see what Patton Oswalt will do in joining their ranks.

Fox Buys Comedy From Amanda Lund, Matt Gourley, Jack Black & Diablo Cody

We’re not sure how many times we’re going to say “nice move” to Fox by picking up what sounds like an amazing comedy project, but here we go again as they have gotten their hands on something from the combined talents of Matt Gourley of Super Ego, Amanda Lund of Yahoo’s Ghost Ghirls, Jack Black, and Diablo Cody.

Nice move, Fox.

Monty Python to Reunite for Stage Show

You did not read that run and this isn’t a test of our emergency broadcast systems. The members of legendary comedy troupe Monty Python are getting back together for a stage show in the not so distant future (more details to come soon).

Not that you need a reason to rewatch Monty Python and The Holy Grail, but this is as good one as any.

Jen Kirkman To Star In & Create FXx Comedy

FX/FXx has found their next comedian that they want to develop a series around thankfully in Jen Kirkman. Much along the way Legit and Louie are focused on the comedy of Jim Jefferies and Louis C.K., ‘Jen’ will be seemingly very much centered on Jen Kirkman’s stand up.

It’s also good to see that FXx is keeping their development slate robost and moving. If anything, this should emphatically prove that Jen Kirkman, as her podcast suggests, is indeed fun.

NBC Orders Comedy Pilot ‘Bad Judge’ From Anne Heche & Gary Sanchez with Kate Walsh

With Brooklyn Nine-Nine doing well enough for a whole season and Steve Carell doing ’Tribeca’ at TBS, Gary Sanchez Productions is getting into this developing trend of comedy procedurals with Kate Walsh starring.

Let’s see how big this trend gets, especially if Brooklyn Nine-Nine really takes off.

Judy Greer’s “I Don’t Know What You Know Me From” Coming Out Next Year

The high profile memoir of the amazing Judy Greer and an acting career so extensive from Arrested Development to rows of indie/romantic comedies to The Descendants that it inspired the title for all the time she’s had run-ins with confused fans is finally set to come out April 8th, 2014.

The cover, front and back, is pretty great too. See both at link at EW.com.

Egypt’s ‘Daily Show’-Style Program “El Bernameg” Breaks With Private Station

Due to being pulled off the air last minute most likely relating to the satirical nature of El Bernameg, the show is going somewhere else to hopefully not be so censored.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that El Bernameg was still around given everything that has been happening in Egypt recently.

Sean O’Connor is one of the comedians that the LA comedy scene gets spoiled with because he’s so damn funny and happens to live here. Thus, we get to see him be so damn funny a lot, but, the rest of you will hear more from Sean, especially those in attendance at his upcoming album taping at The Comedy Attic in Bloomington, Indiana.

Do not miss out on this if you can make it Dec. 12-14th.

Book About Andy Kaufman By Bob Zmuda and Lynn Margulies Comes Out Next Year

Logic would say that a book by two of the closest people to Andy Kaufman should clear everything up regarding Andy, especially as it’s being touted as a “tell all” book, but we’re just going to wait and see about that.

When the book comes out next year, perhaps, Kaufman had more hoaxes planned posthumously, which wouldn’t be entirely surprising, would it? We’re hoping it’s just the truth so no one would have to deal with anything like the random publicity stunt over a week ago that someone pulled at The Andy Kaufman Award Finals.

Even with all of that, Brody has still managed to do around 2500 warm up performances for shows, which we can only attribute to #positiveenergy.
