Dan Harmon Explains Being in The “Eh” Column About Community Going Elsewhere

This morning, Dan Harmon, the creator of Community, gave his expanded thoughts on the cancellation of Community by NBC, not being hyped for it going off-network, and the love of his fans.

Disregard any “talks” or “rumors” about Community in place of reading this.

Jane Krakowski Joins Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Jane Krakowski joins up with Tina Fey again in her and Robert Carlock’s series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt over at NBC. Ellie Kemper is set to topline as a former cult member with Jane Krakowski playing a mother who hires her as a nanny, but we’re excited at the prospect of Fey and Krakowski having a sort-of real life version of the Lemon-Maroney dynamic they had on 30 Rock.

We’re sure there will be plenty of side-by-side memes between this and 30 Rock when we get to see a teaser, etc.

Parks and Recreation 7th Season To Be Its Last

Parks and Recreation has had a great run at NBC, but the network has decided to make its upcoming 7th season the final one for Leslie Knope and co.

With both Community and Parks and Recreation out, NBC is definitely rebranding their comedy. We’ll see how that will play out with bringing in Bad Judge, Marry Me, Mission Control, A to Z, and Mysteries of Laura.

NBC Orders 3 Female Led Comedies ‘One Big Happy,’ ‘Mission Control,’ ‘Bad Judge’

Now that space is cleared out after so many shows got the chop this week, NBC has ordered 3 comedy series, all led by women. Liz Meriwether’s comedy One Big Happy focused on a lesbian starting a family, Gary Sanchez Productions’ 60’s space program workplace comedy Mission Control starring Krysten Ritter, and Bad Judge starring Kate Walsh as an edgy judge all got series orders yesterday.

We do miss Community dearly, but we are excited to see what comes from this new crop.

Ken Marino and Erica Oyama Sell ‘Me Time’ to Universal

Ken Marino and Erica Oyama from Burning Love are at it again as they have sold their latest feature project Me Time to Universal. It’s loosely “described as a female road comedy in the same vein as Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”.

Let’s hope this gets fast tracked, made, and released in theaters before too long.

The Minority Report With Larry Wilmore To Replace The Colbert Report in Jan. 2015

All your bated breaths can now be let go. A Daily Show correspondent will indeed replace Stephen Colbert when he leaves for The Late Show to replace David Letterman starting in Jan. 2015 (coupled with Ferguson’s exit at the end of this year, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert should start around the same time).

Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore, who’s credits run also include The Office and a Showtime special, will host The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore following The Daily Show and we challenge the Internet to be upset with this choice.

NBC Cancels Community

Community made it to only five seasons of its six seasons and a movie goal before getting the axe by the peacock (why isn’t there a meme or .gif of a peacock with an axe yet?).

If you’re feeling real sore about it, you should check out Dan Harmon’s other show at Adult Swim, Rick and Morty because it’s also pretty damn great.

Adult Swim Orders Live Action Half Hour Series Starring Jack McBrayer and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog

If you guys remember when Jack McBrayer and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog visited the infamous Weiner Circle in Chicago, you’ll know a series where the two play unlikely buddies should be pretty great.

In fact, it’s so great that Adult Swim broke their 15 min. mold and is making this a full-fledged half hour series.

NBC Orders David Caspe’s “Marry Me” to Series Starring Casey Wilson

NBC has ordered their latest comedy series Marry Me from Happy Endings’ David Caspe. Casey Wilson and Ken Marino will star opposite from each other, which should make for a lot of fun as Capse and Wilson last worked together on Happy Endings and are now engaged.

Ian Roberts & Jay Martel To Be Showrunners on TV Land Comedy Pilot ‘Teachers’

Ian Roberts, who you should know as one of the UCB 4, along with Jay Martel are producers on Key & Peele that will be headed over to TV Land to work on a comedy pilot entitled ‘Teachers’ produced by Alison Brie.

Hopefully, as the project is set in a school, we wonder if Key & Peele would mispronounce white kids’ names while taking roll in some sort of a cameo.

Adult Swim Orders ‘Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter’ Pilot From Jon Glaser

Never will have werewolf hunting look so awesome as when Jon Glaser will don neon and Coors Silver Bullet sweatpants to be Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter.

Neon Joe is one of many Glaser’s unforgettable characters that you might have seen on Conan a couple of years ago and you’ll hopefully see on TV if Adult Swim orders this to series.

TBS Orders Steve Carell’s Police Comedy ‘Angie Tribeca’ Starring Rashida Jones

We were wondering what happened with this pilot formerly known as Tribeca because, just from the folks involved Steve and Nany Carell as well as Rashida Jones and the spare details available, it still sounded pretty great.

Angie Tribeca is set for a ten episode run at TBS next year.

So, you can binge on Archer nightly between Comedy and FXx next year.

Cristela Alonzo & Jerrod Carmichael Pilots Could Still Be Picked Up to Series

According to the analysis by Deadline Hollywood at the link, projects that were, originally, barely pilots by Cristela Alonzo and Jerrod Carmichael are testing pretty well and have a lot of buzz about them at ABC and NBC, respectively.

Keep your fingers crossed as you probably already have for both of these to get picked up to series soon.

Fox Orders 10 Additional Episodes of Mulaney

Fox’s Kevin Reilly is really doubling down on ditching the pilot season model as Fox has just ordered ten more episodes of John Mulaney’s multi-cam sitcom Mulaney. This will bump the show up to a 16 episode first season, a rarity these days to the normal 6-8 episode order for new shows.

Hopefully, this move will work out in the long run, both for Mulaney and TV series, in general, getting a bit of a chance to develop.

IFC Has New, More Fitting Logo

Given the prevalence of offbeat comedy at IFC these days, this new logo is definitely more appropriate, wouldn’t you say?

There are slight echoes of Comedy Central’s old logo here, which, if you can see the small resemblance, is ironic as Comedy Central now has a logo that closer to IFC’s old one. Comedy Central and IFC haven’t changed places programming wise, but IFC definitely programs much more comedy in place of the many foreign indie documentaries as they used to air ten years ago.

Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner are set to star in (and as) Difficult People, a comedy pilot presentation for USA Network with Amy Poehler executive producing.

Given all the elements involved, we have a hard time imagining this wouldn’t go to series at USA.

Jimmy Kimmel Gets a Two-Year Contract Extension at ABC

Just announced this morning, Jimmy Kimmel will continue to be the sole star of ABC’s late night line-up through the start of 2017. As it stands now, he’ll be facing off with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, whoever Comedy Central picks to replace Colbert, and Conan O’Brien directly in 2016.

With this extension in place, there has to be more curiosity with what CBS and Comedy Central are going to do.

‘The Comeback’ Is Officially Returning to HBO

Only having lasted one season at HBO almost a decade ago, The Comeback was very truly a cult comedy series for how fanatical the following was that it built.

Now set for six episodes back at HBO, it’ll join in the league of Arrested Development of series being brought back, seemingly, from the dead.

Key & Peele Team Up with Maker Studios for ‘Ithamar Has Nothing to Say’

Key & Peele are one of the comedy duos highest in demand right now. In addition to their hit sketch series, they’re involved in the Police Academy reboot and are in several other TV series.

Now, they’re joining together with Maker Studios, one of the biggest studios for the “digital space” of the web, to make Ithamar Has Nothing to Say starring Ithamar Enriquez a web series that’s been described by an industry source as  “Mr. Bean” meets “Louie” meets “Walter Mitty.“ Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele will also be in it.

So, we’re completely on board for all of this and hope it comes out soon.
