News
livestream, musical comedy, the cooties, virtual comedy

One of the best musical comedy groups working today (and, hell, in comedy, period), The Cooties are setting to ease our pandemic and world weary anxieties to rest for an hour or two with a show that’s “50% comedy, 50% concert, and 0% cooking competition.”

For several years, they have served up the most absurd songs with some of the best grooves and most beautiful harmonies in LA and around the country. Truly, they’ll transport you (as well as your toe that will be tapping to their songs) to a better, more fun place with their upcoming comedy live-stream, The Cooties Go Online.

This special, rambunctious evening of mirth and song will go live on Tues. May 18th at 6PM PT/9PM ET. Tickets are going at the nice price of $10 (plus service fee which makes it $11.62). Go get yours for The Cooties Go Online right now right here.

Please Enjoy The Cooties’ and What Might Be Their Most Absurd Song Yet, “Raisins”

The Cooties have been, for a long time, one of our favorite musical comedy acts because their unwavering dedication ini being absolutely and unapologetically silly. Their sweet harmonies and absurdist lyrics are always a welcome break from whatever the world has been throwing us for the last few years.

Their latest song might be one of their catchiest and one of their silliest yet and we don’t want to spoil it by trying to even explain it or “set it up”. It’s best if you just watch and let “Raisins” wash over you.

So, please enjoy The Cooties’ latest “Raisins” here.

The Cooties make such an outstanding blend of comedy and music as they have some of the best harmonies of any and all that have attempted a funny song and some of the most ridiculous lyrics ever sung.

Case in point: their latest single/music video for “Stay Home”. Enjoy it wherever you are (probably while at home though as it literally sings the praises of not going out) here.

OK, enough of this holidays non-sense. Let’s get back into the swing of things (your regularly scheduled great live comedy all around LA that is).

The first Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen @ The Virgil (you know, one of the best shows in LA) of 2020 is this Mon. Jan. 6th and, per usual, they have a stellar/stacked line-up (Hari Kondabolu’s in town and The Cooties are making the rounds for this edition) and, per usual, it’s at 8PM sharp and, again, per usual, it’s $5 right now and $8 cash at the door.

Go get your tickets (and show up at or before 7PM if you want a seat) here.

The Cooties are, in our opinion, one of the best musical comedy acts around. Their harmonies and absurdist lyrics are so unabashedly and undeniably fun and sweet to the ear.

It has been a minute since they’ve played in town, so don’t miss their latest show on Thu. Feb. 28th 8PM at The Satellite (which will just also feature another one of the best musical comedy acts around, Garfunkel & Oates, and even a member of the wondrous indie pop band Vulfpeck, Jack Stratton).

Tickets are only $10! Go get ‘em here.

Watch The Cooties Debut Their Beautiful Harmonies in Their Silly Songs on Conan

It’s been years now since we’ve first enjoyed the sweet voices of The Cooties singing ridiculously fun lyrics at Nerdmelt in the back of Meltdown Comics.

Since then, we’ve been hoping that they’d get on bigger stages to share their gifts for melodic mischief with the world and, indeed, that happened last night.

So, please enjoy their performance of “Maybe That’s God” on Conan here.

*we’re going to guess that Conan jokingly asks for an apology because of that f-bomb that got censored.

Much in the tradition of The Wire: The Musical, Netflix has tapped the unstoppably fun musical comedy group known as The Cooties to do a condensed musical version of their highly popular drug cartel drama, Narcos.

Needless to say, they delivered.

Watch The Cooties’ Narcs: The Musical in parts one, two, and three here.

When it comes to poking fun at LA in a song, The Cooties, current Angelenos themselves, nail so much of the Los Angeles milieu in a pretty undeniably funny tune, The L.A. Song.

JASH made a wonderfully animated music video that accompanies every single lyric quite nicely. Watch it here.

The Cooties and Reggie Watts Make “Trumpy Trump”, the Only Actually OK Trump Supporter Song (Because It’s Still Against Trump)

The Cooties are already great. Reggie Watts is also already great. They all definitely do not need to be made great again.

So, as a group of greats, they made a perfect, satirical Trump supporter song and accompanying music video, Trumpy Trump, that shows why one Donald Trump isn’t actually fit to make anything great at any time.

The rumors are true. There is stuff that you should watch on go90.

The Cooties are definitely one of favorite things that we found out about in 2016. Their absurdist songs strike a great balance of being solid pop music while being almost completely out-of-left-field with their lyrics.

Recently, they got a chance to make a TV pilot with JASH through Verizon’s go90 and got the free reign to really go to the nth degree with pure, uncut, silly brand of comedy.

The result is Dad Friends and you should watch it as soon as you can.
