Please Enjoy Stand-Up on the Positive Tip with Josh Gondelman’s Set on Late Night Seth Meyers

January 25, 2018
Uncategorized

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Josh Gondelman is not only great stand-up comedian, but proof positive that you don’t have to be a brooding, tortured artist in order to become great at stand-up.

Gondelman’s set for last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers is yet another wonderful example of this. Watch it here.

Watch Stars and Co-Creators of Corporate Jake Weisman and Matt Ingebretson’s Interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers

Uncategorized

We’re thrilled that Matt and Jake’s first time on late night is because they are the stars and the co-creators of their first TV series, Corporate.

In our opinion, they were prime for a stand-up spot for quite some time, but doing panel interview for your TV show is pretty fantastic too.

Watch and enjoy them further impressing the dark brand of humor in this interview with Seth Meyers.

Then, for the love of whatever you believe in, watch Corporate premiere on Wed. Jan. 17th at 10PM.

Comedy Winners and Seth Meyers’ Monologue for 75th Golden Globe Awards

January 8, 2018
Uncategorized
2018, golden globes, monologue, seth meyers, winners

The first awards monologue of the year from Seth Meyers probably has set the tone for many monologues to come this year as he immediately and often joked about powerful men being brought down for their past sexual abuse, assault, misbehavior, etc.

Watch it here.

Secondly, here are the winners:
BEST MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA)-“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
BEST MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-“Lady Bird”
BEST ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA)-Frances McDormand, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
BEST ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-James Franco, “The Disaster Artist”
BEST ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-Saoirse Ronan, “Lady Bird”
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR IN ANY MOTION PICTURE-Sam Rockwell, “Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri”
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN ANY MOTION PICTURE-Allison Janney, “I, Tonya”
BEST SCREENPLAY-Martin McDonagh, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
BEST TELEVISION SERIES (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
BEST ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-Rachel Brosnahan, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
BEST ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-Aziz Ansari, “Master of None”

It’s intriguing how Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is getting thrown into the dramatic category, but maybe that is where it has a better chance against the crowded field of prestige pictures that are indeed comedic in some way shape or form (Lady Bird, I, Tonya, The Disaster Artist)

Also, congrats on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel scoring wins in an also crowded TV field.

By the way, here’s the full list of winners.

We’ve been hinting at it in the past several weeks, but, as you can see with Three Billboards and Allison Janney beating out dramatic nominees in the Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture category, comedy is very likely going to have an awards season unlike it has in a very, very long time.

Though you’ve seen and enjoyed comedian/actress Amanda Seales on TV and in movies for years now, Seales’ set from last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers marks her first stand-up set on a late night talk show.

It sure doesn’t seem like her first time doing stand-up on the late night circuit. See for yourself here.

Nathan Fielder Adds More Layers to His “Real Life Fabricated Late Night Story” by Retelling It to Seth Meyers

October 26, 2017
Uncategorized

Nathan Fielder has actually done a real life, comedy version of Inception on all of us and we’re all laughing the whole way through despite it being a ruse the whole time.

One layer is that Fielder told a great late night story on Kimmel.

Another layer is that he fabricated that story to have an interesting story to tell on a late night talk show.

A layer within that is that he would feel guilty about outright lying about said late night talk show story, so Nathan opted to stage every event in the story to happen to him.

Another layer down from that is Fielder explaining all of that to Seth Meyers and then asking to get more mileage from the story by retelling it, pretty much word-for-word.

Plain and simple, it’s comedic genius at work.

If you like jokes extra dry, we’d urge you to take a listen to The Matt Goldich Guarantee, the very album release from one Matt Goldich that has one of the driest deliveries around in the world of stand-up comedy.

Matt combines cleverness and sharp writing together and plates it, if you will, in a minimalist style with the serving of every joke.

Get a taste of of what we’re talking about from Matt’s set on Late Night with Seth Meyers from this week, then go get The Matt Goldich Guarantee here.

We’re glad to see that he’s finally getting his due with this debut late night set on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Late Night with Seth Meyers represents a pretty traditional version of a late night talk show whereas Desus & Mero on Viceland throw out nearly every late night talk show convention that you could think of right out the window.

This week, the old and the new crossed path as Desus Nice and The Kid Mero came on Late Night as guests and talked shop about how much nicer Meyers’ set is, etc.

Veep showrunner David Mandel talking about having to reconfigure Veep because of the incompetence of Trump and his cronies could be a show by itself a la Talking Dead.

Long time couple Aidy Bryant from SNL and comedy madman Conner O’Malley are now engaged.

While on last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Aidy recounted the unusual way that Conner proposed, which, if we think about it, is probably how a lot of comedians end up proposing.

Also, keep in mind that the guy in this man on the street video is the Conner popping the question in this story.

In this particular political atmosphere of the moment, non-political comedy can get lost in the shuffle of Trump and Hillary based humor.

With that in mind, you should watch the recent stand-up sets of Nate Bargatze on The Tonight Show and Liza Treyger on Late Night. They’re both tight sets and are politics free, which is something we’re looking forward to seeing more of after this Tuesday.

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland got their latest late night appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. With not only a late night talk show at their disposal, but a theatre in our nation’s capitol as well, Gil and George opted to do one more round of their beloved prank/chat show Too Much Tuna.

Basically, they hijacked Meyers show and had Meyers as a guest and had the sort of fun that they do at their Oh, Hello show.

Also, they explained, in the actual televised interview where they were the guests, how their show pays “hompage” to Broadway.

We’re guessing that Mulaney and Kroll could do these characters on Broadway for as long as they desire.

Seth Meyers Bans Donald Trump from Being a Guest on “Late Night”

June 15, 2016
Uncategorized
ban, donald trump, late night, nbc, seth meyers, washington post

This may be a symbolic gesture at best, but we can only hope that only a few more shows follow suit here.

As a result of Donald Trump banning The Washington Post from covering his campaign events, Late Night host Seth Meyers is banning Trump from being a guest on Late Night.

Seth announced this during his “A Closer Look” segment that delved into Trump’s bigoted response to the horrific Orlando shooting this past weekend.

Again, this may be a small push back against Trump. However, if other shows do ban him and Trump won’t get to, let’s say, play a silly game on The Tonight Show and get less airtime, this will have been worth it.
