Comedy Winners and Seth Meyers’ Monologue for 75th Golden Globe Awards

The first awards monologue of the year from Seth Meyers probably has set the tone for many monologues to come this year as he immediately and often joked about powerful men being brought down for their past sexual abuse, assault, misbehavior, etc.

Watch it here.

Secondly, here are the winners:
BEST MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA)-“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
BEST MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-“Lady Bird”
BEST ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA)-Frances McDormand, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
BEST ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-James Franco, “The Disaster Artist”
BEST ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-Saoirse Ronan, “Lady Bird”
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR IN ANY MOTION PICTURE-Sam Rockwell, “Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri”

BEST ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-Rachel Brosnahan, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
BEST ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES (MUSICAL OR COMEDY)-Aziz Ansari, “Master of None”

It’s intriguing how Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is getting thrown into the dramatic category, but maybe that is where it has a better chance against the crowded field of prestige pictures that are indeed comedic in some way shape or form (Lady Bird, I, Tonya, The Disaster Artist)

Also, congrats on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel scoring wins in an also crowded TV field.

By the way, here’s the full list of winners.

We’ve been hinting at it in the past several weeks, but, as you can see with Three Billboards and Allison Janney beating out dramatic nominees in the Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture category, comedy is very likely going to have an awards season unlike it has in a very, very long time.
