Jen Kirkman is on the talk show circuit in promotion of her new Netflix special, Just Keep Livin’?, and is making it damn fun while doing so.

Watch her interview on last night’s Colbert and you’ll see why.

John Mulaney and Stephen Colbert and Talk Growing Up Catholic

December 9, 2016

One of the more intriguing layers of Stephen Colbert is him maintaining his Catholicism while being the clever, subversive comedian that he is.

Naturally, John Mulaney growing up Catholic, a thing that Mulaney has plenty of material on, is ripe common ground for a late night chat between John and Stephen.

Watch the conversation here.  Also, enjoy how Mulaney sneaks in one last little morsel for an applause break at the end of the interview.

It’s like he has a fun freewheeling show currently on Broadway or something like that.

Max Greenfield and Stephen Colbert get very clever in this bit on last week’s Late Show that is inspired by Trump’s presidential election win and trying to understand how it happened on the level of children’s recreational sports leagues.

Stephen Colbert and John Oliver Reflect on Trump Win and Where They Go From Here

While at a panel discussion at a Montclair Film Festival called “Wow, That Was Weird”, Colbert says his live election results show was one of the hardest things that he has ever had to do and Oliver was glad he wasn’t Stephen on that fateful night.

Under a Trump Administration, one has to wonder if a more defiant Colbert, a Colbert leaning more towards the one that brought him into the national spotlight, will be delivering a nightly monologue on The Late Show. The episodes of The Late Show over the last two weeks make it seem so.

For making civics and complex social issues digestible and hilarious, we expect John Oliver will continue on doing his crucial work on Last Week Tonight.

Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night: Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t? To Replay on Friday’s Late Show on CBS

Wouldn’t it be amazing if CBS had to bleep and blur most of it?

For the significant niche segment of late night viewers that don’t have access to Showtime and want to watch stuff through legal means, the election night special that Stephen Colbert is doing on the premium cable network will play on CBS in place of the normally scheduled episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at 11:35PM this Friday.

So, if you don’t watch any of the clips that will very probably appear online and don’t read any of the coverage of what Colbert will do for a few days, you’ll get to see it with completely fresh eyes at the end of the week. This probably means you’ll have to not know how won the election until Friday as well.

Tig Notaro and Stephen Colbert are both as charming as could be in this interview. In fact, this could have gone for a few more segments and we bet everyone would probably be on board.

Comedians and actors Nick Kroll, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Ryan Reynolds, Eric Andre, and Mike O’Brien are all pretty much straight as far as we know.

Yet, something was in the air yesterday, perhaps the looming end of the century old Curse of the Billy Goat, that had all three interviews end in the same spectacular fashion.

Well, without giving too much away, Mike O’Brien’s 7 Minutes in Heaven ends how he tries to end all episodes of 7 Minutes in Heaven and Conan O’Brien reenacts the Notebook with Ryan Reynolds.

You can take a wild guess what the common link between these interviews are or just enjoy watching male friendship be taken to the next level between the likes of Colbert and Kroll.

Often times on late night, bits with celebrity guests don’t really go the extra mile to really stand out. They’re fun, but they wouldn’t be click worthy if a celebrity wasn’t in the bit.

This is not the case for the end of Emily Blunt’s interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. What started as just a supposed quick acting lesson turned into something way more magical, surreal, and, of course, funny.

Though Paul F. Tompkins regularly guests on @midnight and stars in Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ on Seeso, Paul deserves far more screen time.

Last night, that desired additional screen time came in the form of an interview with Stephen Colbert and a fun bit where Paul plays the guy who heads up the one newspaper in the entire country that endorses Trump.

We can only hope that the press tour for Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ leads to more of this.

These Daily Show with Jon Stewart alums, Samantha Bee and Stephen Colbert, seem to be in the highest of highs with comedy hosting their own big time shows.

As such, when Bee stopped by on Colbert they got a bit nostalgic for both their time at The Daily Show and the days of their lives that didn’t have to focus on the election.

While Colbert certainly brought the goods in breaking down the debate, NYC’s Emma Willmann also had a great night in her very first stand-up performance on network television. That’s especially impressive given that last night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was completely live.

In case you need an immediate palate cleanser, just wait an hour (give or take a few or more extra hours depending on what side of the country you live on).

In order to get the very first jokes on TV about the first 2016 presidential debate, three late night programs will be going live after the debates.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert 11:35PM on CBS
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah 11PM on Comedy Central
Late Night with Seth Meyers 11:35PM on NBC

For the East Coast, these will actually be live as opposed to West Coast delay, so if you have access to an the EST feed of CBS, Comedy Central and NBC, try and watch it at 8PM PDT.

Also, keep in mind that Full Frontal with Samantha Bee is airing on Wednesday this week in order to fully soak in the debate for their episode. #CUNW

As part of making the rounds for his off-Broadway show, Career Suicide, Chris Gethard got to come on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Sadness and laughing about it threads through the interview while talking about Gethard’s Chris Gethard Show and this new solo show.

Also, it turns out Colbert and Gethard share in, albeit from different angles, one important, very specific sort of anxiety.

Sweden’s Simone Giertz has made a career out of making robots that are seemingly designed to do a singular function, but are really made to only kind of do that one function in the quest to bring joy to all.

Giertz has a very popular YouTube channel where you can see a drone try to cut hair, a robot that can argue with the Internet, and more.

This week, she got to show off her wares to Stephen Colbert and The Late Show and it was a whole bunch of fun.

You’ll also be surprised to know that CBS censors curse words in foreign languages.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Will Go Live Again After Presidential and VP Debates

So, if Colbert and company are going to follow the model that brought them up during the RNC and DNC, expect more Colbert Report-ish elements cleverly renamed for legal reasons. Since they’re spaced apart rather than day-after-day, we’d bet The Late Show team will have the time to put together song and dance numbers, elaborate pre-taped segments, etc.

You should definitely expect to see Stephen Colbert’s identical twin cousin, Stephen Colbert in one of, if not all of, these three live episodes.

Apparently, after bringing back the character Stephen Colbert last week during The Late Show’s RNC coverage, high powered lawyers immediately told Colbert and his Late Show staff that they were in violation of intellectual property rights.

Somehow, the character of Stephen Colbert is not owned by Colbert himself.

Still, the true Stephen Colbert not only doesn’t back down from a challenge. He seeks them out and, in such a spirit, figured out a pretty great workaround.

Character or no, this is the daring and whip smart Stephen Colbert that so many of us know and love. Watch it here.

Stephen Colbert is really getting to fly during these two weeks during the major political party conventions. Sending up the RNC was Colbert definitely thriving back in his wheelhouse last week.

With this week’s Democratic National Convention, Stephen and his staff at The Late Show really get to show off just how sharp they are at political satire/comedy they really are.

Case in point: the cartoon version of Hillary Clinton doing an interview with Stephen, a la the cartoon Donald Trump that Colbert also interviewed earlier this year.

It’s honestly one of the best send ups of Hillary we’ve seen in this election year thus far.

If you’ve been pining for Jon Stewart to do what he does best in this election year, pine no more.

Last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jon took over the desk, albeit in a little more casual attire, and gave us all a beautiful 10 minutes of classic Daily Show with Jon Stewart goodness that picked apart Sean Hannity’s praise of Trump in comparison to Hannity’s criticisms of Obama.

Yes, that includes burns on Arby’s, making fun of the way Trump eats pizza, and a Rant done only the way Stewart can do it.

Please enjoy this gift from Jon Stewart that we can only hope that we get more of soon under his HBO deal.

Stephen Colbert Enlists Laura Benanti for Melania Trump Speech “Apology” That Is “100%” Original

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is on the ball with satirizing the GOP convention in Cleveland.

You might have heard Melania Trump’s speech at the convention was claimed to be lifted from Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech causing a ‘yuge’ fallout. Please note that Melania insisted she wrote the speech and today, the speech writer (who is actually not Melania) apologized for indeed taking cues from Michelle Obama at the direction of Melania.

That makes this cold open to last night’s Late Show all the more damning.

Also, props to Laura Benanti for doing top notch job impersonating Melania. There are times when you’re not even sure if it’s an impersonator or not in this bit.

That’s right, Stephen Colbert pulled out all the stops in his live broadcast of The Late Show last night, following the kick-off of the Republican National Convention.

Not only did he have his former boss, Jon Stewart, do a fun bit, but he also brought back Stephen Colbert, the character, for The Colbert Report segment “The Word”.

Also, Colbert went on a tour through the RNC set up at Quicken Loans Arena and roasted the whole venue as Julius Flickerman in a new Hungry for Power Games segment. He indeed did take the stage when he probably wasn’t supposed to.

All in all, we hope Stephen keeps up this pace for his convention coverage.
