Life Is Beautiful Fest Is Back with Another Line-Up Worth Going to Vegas For

News

Though Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Vegas has injected some new life into the comedy circuit in and around The Strip over the last few years, the primary attraction for going to Las Vegas has been and still is gambling.

That said, there are exceptions to that make it worth venturing to Sin City to catch something other than slot machines everywhere you look, professional gamblers playing poker at all hours of the day and night, and other activities that might be prohibited elsewhere in the U.S.

The Life Is Beautiful Fest is Vegas’ annual weekend festival that combines music, comedy, art, food, and more not unlike Tennesee’s Bonnaroo or SF’s Outside Lands and have quite the comedy line-up. For the 2022 edition, they stacked The Kicker, the comedy part of the fest, with one of NYC’s landmark shows, Butterboy with Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla, and Maeve Higgins, Joel Kim Booster who continues to have a banner year in 2022, the star upstart on SNL, Sarah Sherman, and even Hannah Einbinder and Megan Stalter playing Vegas as their brilliant selves versus Ava and Kayla on Hacks. Podcasts Going Deep with Chad and JT, Celebrity Book Club with Steven & Lily, and Y2YAY with Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin are slated to go up at Life Is Beautiful Fest too running from Sept. 16th-18th in Downtown Vegas.

1-Day passes start from $180 plus fees and 3-Day passes start from $380 plus fees. If this all up your alley, go get passes right here right now.

FYI, We’re the Jury for a Special Showcase at The Las Vegas 420 Cannabis Comedy Festival

As you might have heard, there is a week long comedy festival, The Las Vegas 420 Cannabis Comedy Festival run by our great pals at Rampantly kicked off on Cannabis Day, 4/20. It’s a week of specially curated showcases that bring together the comedians that have thrived doing stand-up virtually over this last year.

We’re honored to take part as a special jury for the festival that will actually handpick our very own line-up for an extra special Comedy Bureau All-Stars on Sat. Apr. 24th at 6:45PM PT/9:45PM ET. All of our staff will have our ears to the ground and eyes wide open (virtually, of course) through all the primetime stand-up shows through Friday at The Las Vegas 420 Cannabis Comedy Festival to select our personal best of the fest line-up.

We’ve gotten to judge plenty of comedy shows/festivals/competitions, but we have the esteemed privilege of getting to make a special show of our favorites rather than just deliberate with our judges to pick just one winner. It ought to be a very special evening for all TCB loyal (and comedy fans in general).

The Las Vegas 420 Cannabis Comedy Festival is actually underway as of this post and going on every night through this Saturday (including our Comedy Bureau All-Stars showcase). Get more info about the fest itself at Rampantly.la and more info on our show here.

Puddles Pity Party Lands Las Vegas Residency at Caesar’s Palace at Start of 2019

Puddles Pity Party Lands Las Vegas Residency at Caesar’s Palace at Start of 2019

A few years ago, we were at The Paul F. Tompkins Show at Largo and, in the middle of the show, Paul mysteriously got a call that he “had” to take. The stage was empty for a few seconds, but out of the corner of our eye, we caught the glow of lantern coming from behind us, walking through the aisle.

That lantern was carried by none other than the towering sad clown that is Puddles Pity Party, who then took the stage with several vintage trunks that were part of an ingenious bit and sang beautifully. It was enthralling, funny, and all kind of unbelievable simultaneously.

Naturally, we’re glad that Vegas will be giving him a residency at Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesar’s Palace from Jan. 17th-Feb 9th next year, so many more rows of people can hopefully be witness to the magic and charm of Puddles Pity Party.

Comedy Cellar to Open a Location in Las Vegas

The venerable NYC comedy club known as The Comedy Cellar is opening up a location out West, specifically at The Rio in Las Vegas at the beginning of April.

“.@NYCComedyCellar will open its first West Coast location at @RioVegas April 5. The intimate 300-seat club “will be just like coming to the New York Comedy Cellar,” said club owner Noam Dworman.”

We’ll be curious to see how this plays out, specifically with where they’ll draw the majority of the comics from, how Vegas comics will factor in, and how close they get to being like original Comedy Cellar.

Anthony Atamanuik’s mastery of the Trump impression allows him to pinpoint how torturous it must be for Trump to try to be somber in the wake of natural disaster and one of the worst mass shootings ever.

TBS Orders Pilot for a Rob Riggle Late Night Sports Talk Show

TBS seems to be doing well to have open arms for ex-Daily Show correspondents.

Potentially, Rob Riggle could be joining Jason Jones and Samantha Bee on TBS with his very own show that would take the sports angle in a weekly late night talk show.

Also, as another welcome change of pace, the show would take place in Las Vegas, which should provide a fun backdrop for plenty of remote segments.

There’s potential here as there is currently only one other show to really figure out the balance of late night, sports, and comedy: Garbage Time with Katie Nolan.

Jimmy Dore Shows How Hilariously Bad the Las Vegas Caucus Was Carried Out

The Jimmy Dore Show at TYT Network went to Las Vegas right as the primary election for democrats in Nevada was being held to witness the city’s caucus.

His findings are both pretty damn funny, but also, at the same time, saddening as caution is being thrown to the wind in such a hotly contested election.

Watch it all really happen here.

Faster., and that he’s looking to do shows at the cities listed about that where he and the butt is stopping.

Get more details about Kurt and the butt here, then be sure to catch a glimpse if you’re anywhere on his route. If you’re not, you’ll be able to see photos of the journey on Kurt’s Twitter and Instagram.

(via Deadline)

The top notch parody of reality TV continues in the Burning Love/Hotwives vein as Hulu has just ordered up another season of Hotwives of Orlando.

In a similar fashion to the way The Real Wives franchise, their source material, has spread itself out, Las Vegas will be the new site of this second season of Hotwives. The cast from season 1 will also not be returning, but we’re sure they’ll get a cast that’s just as stellar as Casey Wilson, Kristen Schaal, Tymberlee Hill, Angela Kinsey, Andrea Savage, Danielle Schneider, Matt Besser, Seth Morris, and more.

UPDATE: Original Hotwives set to return.

We now wonder if the Hotwives universe and Burning Love universe will ever cross.

They’re now back with a new web series called Why Would You Eat There? which has taken Truly and Babcock to The Heart Attack Grill, a place where if you don’t finish your thousands upon thousands of calories, you get spanked in front of everyone.

Jerry Seinfeld Hangs Out with His Old Friend George Wallace and His Hero Robert Klein

The latest two episodes of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee has Jerry Seinfeld take a ride and grab a cup of coffee with two comedians that he has known the longest. Seinfeld and George Wallace not only came up together at the same time, but think of each other as brothers. Robert Klein, throughout the entire canon of stand-up comedy, is one of Seinfeld’s absolute heroes.

It’s fascinating to see Wallace rib Jerry a little and Klein talk about stand-up in the 60s.

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee’s 4th Season Is Underway

Yesterday, Jerry Seinfeld tweeted that his award winning web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, has begun shooting its first episode.

This time, Seinfeld’s not in LA or NYC, but in Las Vegas, which, we can only guess means that he’s starting off with George Wallace?
