Jimmy Kimmel Tries to Convince Craig Ferguson To Not Leave “The Late Late Show”

November 9, 2014
Uncategorized
cbs, craig ferguson, jimmy kimmel, late late show

Craig Ferguson is a very good late night talk show host.

Perhaps, you’ve not had your TV tuned to CBS at 12:35AM after Letterman to find that out over the last decade, but Ferguson, for our money, excelled at the hardest part of hosting the traditional late night talk show format, the interviews. The skill of making a fun, intriguing conversation with people whether they be crazy or dull is one that Ferguson has honed better than almost anyone currently working in late night.

So, the prospect of his exit from The Late Late Show is one that we’re having difficulty getting used to and Jimmy Kimmel feels much the same way.

Craig explains his reasons to Jimmy and the rest of us on The Late Late Show during Jimmy’s appearance on the show this week. Watch it here or here on CBS and start at 18:01 because CBS doesn’t want to put this vastly interesting interview in an easily accessible, user-friendly format online.

After leading their late night offerings for years, Jimmy Kimmel along with Carson Daly has just sold a comedy project to ABC. Kimmel will write the pilot himself that follows a VJ that loses it all, which loosely follows the life of former MTV VJ Daly.

Interestingly, though they’re on different networks, Daly and Kimmel have been longtime friends since their time together at the radio station KROQ here in LA.

Earlier this year, we told you about how Lena Dunham will be the latest part of the experimental new chapters of the Archie Comics as she is writing a few issues.

While chatting with Jimmy Kimmel last night, she delved a little into what might come of her version of the Archie Comics and what she fears in the world of Archie fandom.

Kimmel also makes a good call on who would play a good Jughead in a live action version of Archie.

In the middle of Jennifer Aniston’s interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel pulled Aniston aside for something that’s he been apparently working on for a long time, his Friends fan fiction.

Of course, being fan fiction, Kimmel has made some notable edits, especially when it comes to the parts of Chandler and Joey. Watch it here.

While on Kimmel to promote the latest season of Nathan For You, Nathan Fielder told of a wonderful party planning innovation, then shared where he might get his penchant for painstakingly detailed, committed tomfoolery. Apparently, that “apple doesn’t fall from the tree” saying applies.

Jimmy Kimmel Gets a Two-Year Contract Extension at ABC

Just announced this morning, Jimmy Kimmel will continue to be the sole star of ABC’s late night line-up through the start of 2017. As it stands now, he’ll be facing off with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, whoever Comedy Central picks to replace Colbert, and Conan O’Brien directly in 2016.

With this extension in place, there has to be more curiosity with what CBS and Comedy Central are going to do.

On Leno’s Final Night of Tonight Show, Kimmel, Conan, Letterman, The Daily Show Go Big

Tonight, Feb. 3rd, 2014 will be the final night of Jay Leno’s Tonight Show after well over a score of years. Of course, it’ll be a big celebration at The Tonight Show with Billy Crystal as the guest.

However, Jimmy Kimmel with cast of Monuments Men including Matt Damon and Bill Murray, Conan with the entire cast of The Walking Dead, David Letterman with Michael Keaton/The Flaming Lips w/Sean Lennon, and The Daily Show with NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio are making the 11PM hour fierce.

We wouldn’t be surprised if everyone has a joke about a Leno leaving in their monologue tonight as well.

Jimmy Kimmel Live Going to SXSW

This might be the first time that a late night talk show visits a big time festival for a week of shows. Well, we’re glad that Jimmy Kimmel Live is taping a week of shows at SXSW and we have a feeling that Kimmel is going to pull out all the stops for fake band names and asking if SXSW goers have seen them.
