Pick of the Day: Fictional Roast: Santa (in LA) 12/22

December 14, 2022
News

If you’re more into the Violent Night or Christmas Bloody Christmas this holiday season, you’re probably not in the market for a typical yuletide-tinged comedy show that’s perhaps just stories about dealing with your family during December.

What you might be more into is a full tilt roast of the figure head of Christmas himself, Santa Claus. Thankfully, that exact thing is happening at The Comedy Store thanks to Eddie Furth and Ryan Pigg, the minds behind Historical Roasts on Netflix, with a Fictional Roast: Santa Claus. Comedians donning the characters of Mrs. Claus, The Grinch, Scrooge, Rudolph, Frosty, and a Christmas Tree will all assemble as the dais for sending up the jolly saint.

This Fictional Roast of Santa Claus is set for Thurs. Dec. 22nd at 8PM, up in The Belly Room of The Comedy Store. Tickets are $15 and we suggest you go snag them now here as space there is limited.

Betty White’s Dean Martin Celebrity Roast Will Stream Later This Month

Amidst looking up several various clips and stories of the legendary Betty White, you might have noted that she was the honored guest of a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast. That was back in time (the seventies) where roasts were actually honoring people with friends rather than being a dressed up excuse to have very good comedians be mean to celebrities that have become popular enough to inspire a significant percentage of haters.

Well, you probably won’t find the whole thing streaming anywhere (or even on a DVD?), but, thanks to 800 Pound Gorilla Records, they’ll be streaming the entirety of Betty’s edition of The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast on their YouTube Channel. Starting on Mon. Jan. 17th at 3:30PM PT/6:30PM ET, you’ll get your chance to honor White as she would have turned 100 and see her be honored for the comedy legend was/is/will continue to be.

Here’s a trailer to bring you back into the world of those classic roasts here.

News

When it comes to comedy roasting these days, it’s pretty clear that Nikki Glaser is one of the best in the game and has been for the last several roasts put on by Comedy Central.

With Comedy Central going through their vault of their numerous roast specials for the upcoming “Hall of Flame” series, it’s subsequently pretty perfect that Nikki is hosting (and very likely adding her very own whipsmart commentary on the line-up of clips to be presented).

Starting Mon. Mar. 29th at 10PM, this “Hall of Flame” will be cherry picking 100 choice clips throughout their entire roasting history. Get a taste of what’s to come from Nikki and “the Hall” here.

Though we can’t gather close together for the holidays (really, we shouldn’t be gathering with COVID-19 cases, infection rates, and hospitalizations spiking like they are), we can still get into the holiday tradition of touring around the neighborhood and looking at everyone’s holiday lights set-up. If you don’t feel safe doing that, you still don’t have to miss out as Carmencita the Christmas Mouse (Carmen Morales) went ahead and did a holiday lights tour for everyone.

Actually, she did one better and added some of her personal commentary/roasted some of the “one-of-a-kind” houses that she drove by.

Enjoy Carmencita the Christmas Mouse’s holiday lights tour/get into the true holiday spirit here.
