Comedy Central’s Roast of James Franco Airs Tonight on TV and Online

The time has finally come for Comedy Central’s latest roast of James Franco, which many wonder will be the moment where these roasts take on the more traditional spirit of roasts by honoring the person being roasted. Having seen some many of the jokes being worked out around LA, we have faith that this might just be the case. A good tell tale sign of that is that if you see all the members of the dais, at the end of their sets, don’t say, “Thanks for being a good sport,” like they did for Donald Trump.

The Roast of James Franco is on Comedy Central (as well online at ComedyCentral.com) tonight at 10PM.

Andy Daly’s “Review” Coming to Comedy Central in 2014

There were a lot of really intriguing projects that were on this year’s development slate over at Comedy Central such as Andy Daly’s Review show where he’ll review kind of anything.

Don’t worry if you were thinking it wasn’t going to air; just know that you’ll have to wait until next year for that to happen (OK, stop making that face–if you can wait until 2014 for a new season of Louie, you can wait a few more months for this).

‘Futurama’ Series Finale Will Have Pre- and Post-Show Shows Hosted by Chris Hardwick

As Futurama reaches its series finale after an improbably rise from the dead along with the incredibly loyal cult following that it has fostered, what other way would be more appropriate to end the series than with a companion commentary shows, before and after the finale next Wed., hosted by Chris Hardwick?

Not much outside of having a Shelbyville hyper loop reference could do much better.

Dave Attell’s and his stand-up are coming back in full force over on TV. Both a comedy special and stand up series from Attell have been added to Comedy Central’s upcoming slate.

It would be amazing to see if Dave keeps Dave’s Old Porn going concurrently with these two new projects.

With this news, we’re continuing to actually look forward to this latest roast at Comedy Central.

We actually got to see Aziz run some of his roast jokes over the past few nights and we have to say that it’s going to be a really nice addition to the dais.

At 11:59PM tonight on Comedy Central, Greg Fitzsimmons’ first 1 hour special, Life on Stage, will make its television premiere. That leaves plenty of time for you to watch Breaking Bad, process it, discuss it, and then catch what will be a damn funny guy doing an hour of stand-up.

That sounds like a pretty great Sunday night to us.

Comedy Central’s Finding Their Next Album Release From “Up Next” Contest Winner

In an intriguing move for their stand-up, Comedy Central is holding a contest called “Up Next” in which they will give their winner a digital comedy album recording, a college tour spot, a guest DJ slot on their Sirius XM channel, $2500, a spot on a Comedy Central stand-up series, and more. The contest is to be held exclusively at Comedy Central certified comedy clubs around the country starting next month (find participating locations and dates here).

We’re curious to see how this plays out and if a diamond in the rough is truly found from this. Also, we’ll keep you updated if there’s an entrance fee.

The Truth Behind Daft Punk’s Cancelled Appearance on The Colbert Report

It wasn’t a ruse that Stephen Colbert had cleverly planned and kept on the down low when Daft Punk cancelled last minute on appearing on The Colbert Report.

If anything, you’ll somehow have an even deeper appreciation what Colbert and his writing staff attempted to go through to get the duo, helmets and costumes all, on screen with their bizarre diva like requests.

Dais for Comedy Central’s Roast of James Franco Has Jeff Ross, Nick Kroll, Sarah Silverman, and More

Well, so far, there are no “stunt celebrities” on the dais for Comedy Central’s latest roast that are just there for the simple spectacle without any real comedy chops. Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Jeff Ross, and Sarah Silverman are pretty solid.

That’s great to see, for now, but we are surprised that Jay Baruchel and Danny McBride aren’t in this announcement as This Is The End must have been just a warm up for this.

The Final Episode of ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ to Air February 6, 2014

So, as it stands right now, on Feb. 6th next year, Jay Leno will step down from The Tonight Show, then The Tonight Show will move to New York City with its new host Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers will take the reins to Late Night.

While that might seem momentous, don’t forget that The Arsenio Hall Show is coming back, Chris Hardwick is doing a late night talk show of sorts for Comedy Central, USA is developing a late night talk show with Will Ferrell, and Pete Holmes will be following Conan on TBS later this year.

Basically, late night’s going to get a whole lot more exciting really soon.

Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel Are Making a ‘Crash Test’ Comedy Central Special

This is the type of move we’re hoping that Comedy Central would make. As the arena of cable network comedy is expanding in addition to the proliferation of comedy online, the old guard has to try some new things and the new thing of the day happens to be Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel doing a comedy special of their anything goes live show Crash Test.

And by anything goes, we mean we’ve been made to do an improvised pledge of allegiance to Crash Test, dissected Vin Diesel’s Facebook page, try to cheer up Pauly Shore’s former assistant who happened to be in the audience, and more.

We can’t wait to see what Scheer and Huebel come up with.

Bill Hader Will Write for South Park Next Season

Not that one of the longest running shows at Comedy Central, South Park, needed a shot in the arm, but Bill Hader joining in at South Park as announced yesterday at Comic Con will definitely make for a very intriguing season especially given their lightning fast concept to finished episode process.

We wonder if Hader’s weird impressions will end up being South Park characters.
