Letterman Does “Top Ten Things I’ve Always Wanted To Say To David Letterman” and Says His Final Goodbye to “The Late Show”

After over a month of tributes and farewells, David Letterman kept his send-off relatively short and sweet.

There was a star-studded Top Ten List of Things I’ve Always Wanted To Say To David Letterman that included Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Tina Fey, Peyton Manning, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Jim Carrey, as well as a special performance of “Everlong” by The Foo Fighters.

There was also a nice opening bit from various Presidents.

Outside of that, Dave respectfully spent much his time delving into nostalgia and thanking all of the folks that have been a part of his show over 30 years.

There was even a “day in the life” montage of what Dave goes through with his staff.

With over 30 years and 6000+ shows logged, it’s amazing that Letterman is still self-deprecating in his final remarks.

Just like that, just a little past midnight last night. The Late Show with David Letterman and an entire era of comedy comes to a close.

You can watch the entire finale here.

Of course, Dave also made sure to send his best wishes to the new guy, Stephen Colbert.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a countdown going for Sept. 8th?

Unlike the last several comedy specials you’ve seen, she’s shooting it at The Apollo Theater.

HBO’s next big one hour comedy special will come from Amy Schumer who is posting a banner year in 2015 with all the acclaim that Inside Amy Schumer is getting, hosting the MTV Movie Awards, and having her movie Trainwreck coming out soon.

Now, Amy has added to that this HBO comedy special that is set to shoot on May 29th at The Apollo Theater (Yes, the one where they’ve had a man with a broom sweep performers off stage) with Chris Rock at the helm.

Looks like they’ll have to make that banner a little bigger.

Chris Rock’s highly anticipated Top Five is now playing in plenty of theaters now after its release this past weekend.

In the middle of a crowded field of dark, subversive fare at your local movie theater, writer/director/star Chris Rock manages to balance a satire of Hollywood and being laugh out loud throughout in Top Five.

The cameos, of which they are many including Jerry Seinfeld, Brian Regan, Adam Sandler, Kevin Hart, Whoopi Goldberg, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, and Cedric the Entertainer are pretty damn fantastic and worth the price of admission alone.

So, go see Top Five now.

Many children are often very revere the occupation of their parents. If a parent is something like a pilot or an engineer, etc., their kids will more than likely give a lot of respect to what they do.

However, when it comes to being a comedian, even one of the most successful ones around, it’s kind of a different story. Just check out Chris Rock and David Letterman dish about how their kids are less than impressed by their respective comedic works.

As of late, the best episodes of Saturday Night Live seem to come around when they have a host that has such a strong voice comedically and in many different disciplines (i.e. writing, stand-up, acting, directing). Both times Louis C.K. has hosted, for example, have been pretty great.

We think that Chris Rock might have a similar result having acted on Broadway, produced TV shows, and made his own highly anticipated movies like Top Five in returning to the SNL stage tonight as the host, so you should check it out at 11:30PM on NBC.

Also, it’s another rare chance to get to watch Prince perform live.

The trailer has just got posted online and shows promise for what could be a tighter, less complicated version of Funny People that’s written, directed, and starring the one and only Chris Rock.

Give it a watch and see for yourself.

The Just For Laughs brand has been one for the biggest comedy festivals in the world for quite some time. In their tenure of their festivals, so many of the big names you know and love nowadays performed on what was likely the biggest stage they’ve ever performed comedy on up until that point.

So, JFL thought it might be prudent to share some of their archives with the rest of us.

Thus, 500 hours of clips will be uploaded to a YouTube channel that’s being created with the help of Maker Studios, much of which hasn’t ever been seen outside of the festival. Clips will include performances from Dave Chappelle, Bill Hicks, Bill Burr, Louis CK, Mitch Hedberg, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, and way more.

When that starts, prepare for another thing to binge watch.

Before embarking on his Black Plague Tour, Chris Rock has something else big on the horizon. His latest movie Top Five following a comedian turned movie star, in which he starred, written, and directed is making quite the ruckus at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Studios are in a bidding war of the likes that have been rarely seen at TIFF and Paramount Pictures reportedly has offered $12.5 million for the worldwide rights to the movie. Not only is that number impressive for a festival buy, but the movie itself only cost around $6 million to make.

So, Rock’s Top Five sounds like it’ll be pretty good.
