“@midnight” Moving to 11:30PM For Two Weeks Before “The Nightly Show” Premiere

When people were concocting various strategies that Comedy Central to fill in The Colbert Report when Stephen Colbert was first announced to be David Letterman’s replacement at The Late Show, some entertained the idea of “@midnight with Chris Hardwick” going up to 11:30PM.

However, the name of the show would prohibit from that ever be serious schedule change… or so we thought.

From Jan. 5th to Jan. 19th, the two weeks that lead up to the premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Comedy Central has indeed decided to move up “@midnight” to 11:30PM.

We’re sure Hardwick and company are going to have a bunch of fun in a quasi-time rift for a fortnight.

As Joan Rivers passed away yesterday afternoon, there were plenty of tributes throughout the world of late night, one she was such a forceful, hilarious presence in. Conan O’Brien and Chris Hardwick, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart, and Craig Ferguson all paid their respects to Rivers on their respective programs.

Chris Hardwick is qualified in many regards with hosting “@midnight”, numerous companion discussion shows like Talking Dead, being a stand-up comedian, as well as being the leader of Nerdist.

However, while waiting for his interview at The Tonight Show, Hardwick fielded some questions that don’t really pertain to any of that. Though it may be “unqualified advice” it still is very clever and funny, so long as you don’t carry out most of it.

Chris Hardwick Announces @midnight Renewed for 2015

If you were potentially worried that you might not get to see the index finger of Chris Hardwick point to any number of comedians while yelling out “Points!” in 2015, then potentially worry no more.

As Hardwick stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he announced that the midnight hit at Comedy Central “@midnight” has been picked up for another year at Comedy Central and will run through 2015.

Chris and Jimmy also joked about the possibility of doing a crossover episode with this renewal, but we wouldn’t be surprised at all if The Tonight Show and “@midnight” despite their time slot conflict, did some sort of crossover.

They’ve done some crazy things on “@midnight” in case you haven’t regularly watched it.

For all the times you’ve joked what other post-mortem discussion panel show he could possibly host, Chris Hardwick is beating you to the next pun you were about to make by joking about Talking Dead, etc. himself.

So, here he is hosting Talking Bread on Conan with guests Tig Notaro and Andy Daly. We would sincerely hope this goes long enough to hear if people give pumpernickel the love it deserves.

Comedy Central Orders Weekly Variety Show Pilot Hosted by Justin Willman, Produced by Chris Hardwick

Comedy Central is going further into the Nerdist/Chris Hardwick business after the sucess of “@midnight” by ordering a pilot produced by Hardwick for a variety show intended to be weekly.

Justin Willman who you might know as a charming magician or the host of Cupcake Wars would be set to host what would be a mix of sketch, stand-up, “social experiments”, and more.

This might prove to be another nice way to expand Comedy Central’s branding as a variety show doesn’t currently exist on Comedy Central.

Throughout the country, you may get to see the likes of Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Jim Gaffigan, Sarah Silverman, Jeff Ross, Marc Maron, Chris Hardwick, Hannibal Buress, Demetri Martin, and more thanks to Funny or Die’s gigantic festival tour known as Oddball. Looking at that line-up, we’d say Oddball is gong to have another epic round.

The Nerdist continues to grow its great empire as AMC has picked up the great Nerdist’s web series All-Star Celebrity Bowling. The amazing Sklar Brothers will host Chris Hardwick and Team Nerdist bowling and, more importantly, trash talking another team, which might be the cast of a show, movie, etc.
