Pick of the Day: Last Podcast Network-Haunts Your House 10/17

In the thick of the Halloween season (that probably won’t allow for you to do trick-or-treating or your row of Halloween parties), one of the best things to ring in the season right now would be watching a classic horror movie along some of the funniest folks from The Last Podcast Network (that raises money for a deserving charity/cause).

So, Saturdays in October will be dedicated to just that and this Saturday will feature one of the most classic horror movies, Nosferatu, to be viewed and riffed on by Holden McNeely, Amber Nelson, Henry Zebrowski, Natalie Jean, and Wendy (Henry and Natalie’s dog). They’ll be taking donations for The Midnight Mission that has been faithfully serving the most vulnerable in LA for over 100 years.

Tune into Haunts Your House at twitch.tv/lastpodcastnetwork at 6PM PT/9PM ET this Sat. Oct. 17th.

This week's ? yer ?!:
Movie: Nosferatu
Hosts: @holdenators, @AmberSmelson, @HenryLovesYou, @thenattiejean, Wendy
Raising $$ for: The Midnight Mission
Join us at https://t.co/Tw5dQ8gBjy on Saturday, and YES it's viewable afterwards! And we're coming ON TIME this week ?? pic.twitter.com/DKqDc1sy6O

The backroom of the Blue Rooster Art Supplies was poised to be the heir apparent to Nerdmelt @ Meltdown. Alas, such a fate was not to come to pass as construction and expansion will prohibit the space from being a live venue.

Thus, Faded, On Deck, live tapings of All Fantasy Everything, and more will be moving on to a new home in the Mid City Arts Center next month.

However, before they go, they’re throwing a big farewell this Saturday in the form of an all female comedy marathon featuring 30 of LA’s best female comedians telling one joke. Signature Drink, another Blue Rooster show alum, and its hosts Courtney Karwal and Megan Gailey will be presiding over what should be quite the swan song.

Seriously, this would be a show that you shouldn’t miss without the whole prospect of a venue closing. As this is a living wake of sorts, it’s even more imperative that you enjoy yourself at a damn fine stand-up show.

Naomi Ekperigin and Andy Beckerman are back again with their very lovely, paired storytelling show/podcast, Couples Therapy.

Couples of all kinds, significant others, best friends, etc. share their stories together on stage for, what we’d like to think, is the often the best version of those stories. Also, Naomi and Andy, as hosts,  always inspire “relationship goals” as they are a perfectly matched duo on stage.

This edition of Couples Therapy will include:

Nico Santos & Lauren Ash
Sabrina Jalees & Jeffery Self
Amber Nelson & John Milheiser
Sean White & Subhah Agarwal

Tickets are $8 in adv. at $10 at door. Go get ‘em in advance here.

The somewhat controlled chaos of Late Late Breakfast is finally back with more hysterical, insane challenges for LA favorites in stand-up to attempt while doing their sets.

Hosts Tyler Jackson and Danny Maupin will be at Lyric Hyperion in Silverlake this time around on Sat. Jul. 20th at 4PM. Tickets are only $5 for what is truly a beautifully bonkers experience.

Please go get tickets here.

Blair Socci’s show that was inspired by a letter she wrote to Owen Wilson over a decade ago makes its debut in LA!

The delightful line-up will be reading letters they wrote to celebrities of their choice, which should make for a great evening in seeing of comedians that you’ve probably never seen before.

Tickets are $5 and you can (and should) get tickets here.

In Case You Didn’t Know, Murderfist Has a Bunch of New Sketches for You to Binge Watch

15 years ago, John Moreno, Walter Replogle, Holden McNeely, Henry Zebrowski, Jackie Zebrowski, Amber Nelson, Ed Larson, Jared Warner, Kelan Maloney, and Adam Wirtz made a wonderfully unholy alliance as a sketch group that would be come to known and loved as Murderfist.

In that time, they made some of the funniest and darkest sketches that the NYC (and the Internet) has seen. Paste has a great oral history of the group that you should read if you’re unfamiliar with the group’s origins and rise.

The last few years have been kind of quiet for Murderfist leaving us all kind of jonesin’. However, a good portion of Murderfist now lives in LA and seems to having the wheels turning once again. There’s a bunch of new videos on their YouTube channel that you should obsess over here.

This “coming out” sketch is one of our favorites in particular from their latest batch.

Nikki Black and Nina Tarr’s It’s Your Funeral really does feature live eulogies of audience members that have not yet left this mortal coil after a brief interview by featured comedians.

If you wanted a fun preview of what a living funeral might be like, this is absolutely for you, especially for the fact that Black and Tarr play two charming Jersey Girls who love the macabre.

The latest edition of It’s Your Funeral is happening this week at Think Tank Gallery. Get more details here.
