YouTube To Have ‘This Better Be Funny’ Comedy Week

From May 19th to May 25th, YouTube will have a special week featuring the best of comedy under their umbrella with, of course, videos, but live shows, etc. from the likes of Rainn Wilson, Sarah Silverman and Michael Cera of JASH, Jimmy Kimmel, Norm Macdonald, The Onion, CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, and more.

However, as there is ‘This Better Be Funny’ in the name of said comedy week, we’re not officially doing anything in association with it (i.e. we have a great podcast called This Better Be Funny that you should give a listen to). That is to say, we’re not doing anything yet, perhaps... maybe…

We Got a Say in Vulture’s “50 Comedians You Should and Will Know” List, So You Should Check Out

We were glad to be a part of an esteemed panel of people who know what they’re talking about when it comes to comedy these days for Vulture’s up and coming comedian list. Please give it an earnest look as many of these folks are just about to get/are getting their big break like Jerrod Carmichael, Garfunkel & Oates, Ron Funches, Broad City, Jon Daly, James Adomian, Gil Ozeri, Betsy Sodaro, and more.

For Some Reason, You Still Have a Chance To Be 1 of 50 People to See Sarah Silverman Tape Her Upcoming HBO Special

We RT’d this a few weeks ago, but the announcement that Sarah Silverman will be taping her upcoming stand-up special for HBO in an incredibly intimate venue (it holds about 50 people) has relatively been kept on the DL. From the looks of the tweet that is linked to above, there’s still room.

We’re just saying you might want to get in on this.

Nathan Fielder Voicemail Claims He Has No Idea About Kids Pranking Parents About Drugs (A Prank He Started)

Nathan Fielder was clearly born to prank people. This example of tweeting out to people to mistakenly text message their parents about drugs then send screen captures of the conversation to him, then saying to call a number for an explanation if the parents still had doubts, which turned out to be a denial of the whole thing is pretty much perfect.

There’s a recording of the voicemail at the link.

Also, this headline could read: Nathan Fielder Got Written Up in Glamour Paris.

This Better Be Funny Ep. 70 with Shawn Pearlman

This Better Be Funny

This week, Jake and Jeremy invade a booth at Astro Diner in Silverlake with guest Shawn Pearlman. The gang and their guest didn’t get kicked out, but they got as close as they’ve ever gotten by being sat at the back of the restaurant, which they probably deserved for talking loudly about Paul Anka, legendary (locally) open mic comedian Boon Shaka Laka, and how “too soon” a joke could be if we comedians were clairvoyant. You’d think a 24 hour diner in LA would be used to this type of ruckus by this point, right? Oh well…

As more networks are either expanding their comedy programming are entirely rebranding themselves as a comedy focused channel, Comedy Central has made a lot of great moves over the last year in what is getting to be one crowded race for comedy on television.

Today, they’ve ordered both an animated pilot from Will Gluck and Conan writer Scott Gairdnerand added another late night show hosted by Chris Hardwick and produced by Funny or Die/Robert Ben Garant/Thomas Lennon.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming months.

Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig Cast in Will Ferrell’s ‘Spoils Of Babylon’ on IFC

Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig will join Will Ferrell in his upcoming series at IFC making the already intensely intriguing ‘Spoils of Babylon’ even more so.

It’s moves like this that make us think that F in IFC doesn’t stand for films so much, anymore, as the C stands for comedy.
