WitStream: Wired Magazine’s “Humor Issue,” and what was missing

witstream:

Every month or so a print magazine or newspaper (aka “old media”) publishes a piece that’s meant to prove their embrace of new media. They cherry-pick a handful of brilliantly funny tweets, and print them with headlines like “Follow the Laughter,” or “10 Funny Folks to Follow on Twitter.”

So when…

Old Man Weldon: People get upset at CRAAAAZY stuff…

Oh Will Weldon…

oldmanweldon:

I recently watched this video by ball of hate Doug Giles, and was deeply and truly grossed out by… everything about him. So I posted the following comment:

“I would rather my daughter date a thousand Hannibal Lecters than spend five minutes with this guy.”

Roommating Episode 3 – Wii

Erin and Joel use their Wii to mock up Erin’s mugger.

You can tell how old this is because I use a RAZR for a phone! Hahahahahahah! Remember those? They didn’t have any Internet! Anyway, this was the first time I dipped my toe into voice over acting. If you listen carefully, you can hear my harsh lady voice under the voice altering filters we used to create the voice of Mugsy.

This American Wife Episode 27 – Oriana Small (Ashley Blue), Deborah Vankin

“L.A. Women” Act I features Oriana Small, aka Ashley Blue, who became one of the top adult performers of the new millennium. She recounts some of the funny, harrowing tales from her new memoir, “Girlvert.” Act II features Deborah Vankin, author and current staff writer for the Los Angeles Times. Deborah talks about the crazy LA arts and nightlife scene that she has covered for years, and how it inspired her new graphic novel, “Poseurs.” Hold on to your britches, it’s This American Wife.

Hosted by Ned Hepburn and Eric Martin.

Some amazing stories on this episode. Deborah is a fabulous writer and journalist, and her graphic novel “Poseurs” combines both of these skills for a great read, with beautiful art from Rick Mays.

Oriana’s memoir “Girlvert” is like “Boogie Nights” times one million – it’s seriously intense and a hell of a story. Put on “Sister Christian” really loud while you read it.

Okay, off to Portland now for the big “This American Wife” live show at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival!…

Funny or Die’s Adam McKay launches protest song website | EW.com

popculturebrain:

Despite a broad comedy label, Adam McKay has made his interest in politics well known. Now he’s launching a site dedicated to a new rise in protest songs: Public Domain Protest Song.

This site is for protest music that is free all to download, cover, mix, mash up and most of all, play loudly. We don’t need to say “Power to the People!” cause we already got it. We just need to wake up and use it.
