The Chris Gethard Show May Be Coming to an End on Sept. 24th

August 18, 2014
Uncategorized
chris gethard, the chris gethard show

One of the best public access shows ever may be reaching its swan song soon. The Chris Gethard Show has been trying to evolve itself in order to keep the spirit that has driven its current acclaim and cult following.

So, Gethard will be taking votes via calls on this week’s episode this Wed. to see if the people want the show to keep going. After that, the show will go on a hiatus for a few weeks, then return on Sept. 24th or not.

No matter what happens, Gethard will be doing something in the latter part of Sept. that we should all be watching.

The very funny Tony Baker has been making his way through the LA comedy scene and beyond for quite some time now. Finally, he’s recorded and released his first comedy album It’s a Lifestyle on iTunes for the whole world to enjoy, which came out on the same day as Nate Fridson’s Best Guy So Far and Dave Waite’s Hotdoggin’ last week.

Comedy is always best in threes, so, by that logic alone, you should pick up It’s a Lifestyle.

If you follow the great Dave Hill on Twitter, and you absolutely should, you’re probably a fan of his “erotic short stories”. Even if you’re not, you’re about to become one from seeing Dave read them live with some sultry accompanying music played by Dave’s band Valley Lodge. Hopefully, some of this will make it on to his comedy album that’s taping next month.

Prepare to laugh and get horny simultaneously while watching.

Somehow, The Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb continues to be a children’s cartoon that, like Adventure Time, is something that adults can get into.

For an upcoming Halloween special episode, they will be having Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play Shaun and Ed from the awesome zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead, which should be to the delight of all of us grown ups who aren’t going to a party or don’t have to take someone trick or treating.

At the very least, you can enjoy fictional sitcom cops who don’t racially profile or are over militarized.

As your various social media feeds have been most likely filled with some sort of pictures or articles about what looks like a war zone in Ferguson, MO over the killing of the unarmed Michael Brown, one would hope that such a biting, satirical comedy news program as Last Week with John Oliver would cover this story to hopefully ease some of the confusion and bring levity, of any degree, to the matter.

Well, last night, Oliver did just that in his main segment. Watch it here.

Richard Jeni, who passed tragically and too early like Robin Williams did this week, will, at the very least, have his comedy live on in four albums from four of his specials on iTunes.

A Good Catholic Boy, Platypus Man, Richard Jeni’s Bits, and the posthumously released The Beach Crowd are now all available thanks to Comedy Dynamics. The Beach Crowd is cut from years of performances at The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, CA and really shows Jeni in his element.

Definitely make this part of your comedy library.

To further tap into the zeitgeist, Comedy Central is doing some “investigating” of their core demographic of young people.

More specifically, they’re sending the very funny Nikki Glaser and her producer Emmy Blotnick to a house full of young, creative types to crash on their couch and gather data, however that’s supposed to work. From that, they made a web series aptly called Comedians Crashing Couches.

The first two episodes are up and more so than finding out what the kids are into these days, we’re wondering if Nikki will stay sane through the whole process.

Craig Ferguson Planning on Leaving His 12:35AM Talk Show For a 7PM Talk Show

(via Variety)

As of now, Craig Ferguson is lining up his next show after his departure from The Late Late Show at CBS, which he’s aiming to be a syndicated talk show that would air right before primetime for networks at 7PM.

He’d also be going from an hour to a half-hour as well as leaving a broadcast network to syndication through Tribune Media, which owns WGN America.

Pending these final negotiations, Ferguson’s new show, where he’ll probably be even dissuaded from having his innovative curse word censoring on The Late Late Show, will look to premiere in the latter part of 2015.

We’re throughly curious as to how this new show will look, sound, feel, be formatted, and, also, what will happen to Geoff Peterson.

For the third season of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, the comedian behind Sleepwalk With Me and My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, Mike Birbiglia is coming for a recurring role. It’s not clear what he’ll be, but it wouldn’t be hard to imagine for it to not be a potentially scene-stealing role.

Our guess would be some of new, atypical prison chaplain.

Let’s hope CBS keeps going in this direction this pilot season.
