Devastator Press’ Latest Books “Toys 4 Cheap” and “Dream It! Screw It!” Feature Fake Failed Disney Rides and Cheap Toys That Should Never Exist

Indie humor publishing arm Devastator has their latest releases that really take a world of children’s wonder to the dark, grown-up side.

Toys 4 Cheap by Asterios Kokkinos and Jimmy Hasse reads like those Sunday pull out ads, but features a multitude of children’s toys that more belong in a more clever version of Spencer’s Gifts than at Toys “R” Us. See plenty of examples of above.

Geoffrey Golden’s Dream It! Screw It!: 30 Years of Rejected Disney Park Ideas from Dipp Disney takes on the failed ideas of a fictitious career of a forgotten Disney relative. The attractions include a “child feeding zoo” and other dystopian Disney rides that never made it past “imagineering” stage.

Both will make great gifts for you or the comedy fan in your life this holiday season.

Larry Wilmore Signs Overall Deal With ABC Studios

Larry Wilmore Signs Overall Deal With ABC Studios

Since the cancellation of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Larry Wilmore has been busy work building his own TV empire and, thankfully, succeeding.

Wilmore already had his hand in both Black-ish and helping bring Issa Rae’s Insecure to HBO before his own show got the ax. Though he’s not at the center of a show behind a desk, it would seem with a new overall deal with ABC that he’s got more on his plate than ever.

If we’re reading the tea leaves right, diversity will be more important than ever on television and Wilmore being where he is right now is a good thing.

Annie Awards Nominations Announced and Zootopia Leads Big Time

Zootopia scored 11 nominations to be exact.

The Annie Awards, the big time, awards ceremony honoring the highest achievement in animation just announced this year’s nominations and Zootopia has emerged as a clear favorite.

On top of that, the nods to more grown-up fare like The Simpsons, BoJack Horseman and Venture Bros are nice to see. All ages shows like Adventure Time and Finding Dory, perhaps unsurprisingly, gained nominations as well.

We’ll see if Zootopia can make good on its 11 nominations when the winners are announced February 4th.

The entire list of Annie Awards nominations are listed at the link above.

Wes Anderson Makes an Adorable Holiday-on-a-Train Short Film “Come Together”

This might be the pretty, well-composed, adorable piece of holiday visual candy and charm that could only come from Wes Anderson that will either get you in the mood for the holiday season or at least make today seem a teensy bit brighter.

Anderson’s latest short film Come Together starring Anderson-go-to Adrien Brody is presented by H&M in the same way Spike Jonze did his uber-fun short film for Kenzo.

As far as we can see, this auteur-catered ad strategy with the most subtle mention of the products is only going to become more popular.

WTF with Marc Maron Will Be Digging Into the WTF Vault for Unreleased Material Throughout the Years

So, this would be unlocking the gates, right?

WTF with Marc Maron has built itself into one of the biggest podcasts around, comedy or otherwise, through Maron’s shrewd interviewing style.

Before having WTF what it is now, Marc and his producer Brendan McDonald have made plenty of things that, for several fascinating reasons, have never been heard by anyone at all such as a test show done for an Air America affliate with Patton Oswalt as a guest and Jim Earl as a sidekick.

This is only the beginning of what will be called WTF Vault that’ll be released as a limited series until the end of the year.

It’s important that comedy keep holding certain people (Trump) and their feet to the fire.

Matthew Patrick Davis’ amazing musicianship and clever wordplay (he made an entire unauthorized musical about the King of Kong documentary) get put to great satirical use at a time where satire is probably more important than it’s been in awhile.

Watch Trailer for “The Comedian” Where Robert DeNiro Plays a Slightly Less Crazy Comedian Than Rupert Pupkin

In 1983, Robert DeNiro took on one of his noted roles as a mentally unstable “comedian” that takes a talk show host hostage in The King of Comedy.

Next year, DeNiro will star as a slightly more (but not too much more) normal comedian in simply titled The Comedian that forces himself to make a comeback after several falls from grace. Also, the one and only Jeff Ross was hired to write actual jokes for DeNiro’s character Jackie that are used throughout the film. Leslie Mann, Danny DeVito, Patti LuPone, and Harvey Keitel make for a pretty dazzling supporting cast as well.

Watch the trailer here, then look for it in theaters on January 13th.

You might be familiar with Kurt Braunohler through his large scale comedy/performance art/pranks like hiring a skywriter to write “How Do I Land?” in the sky or him jet skiing down the Mississippi for charity or driving a giant double sided butt sculpture across the country.

Kurt is also a great stand-up comedian on top of all of that as you can see in this set from last night’s episode of Corden.
