cheap, comedy news, comedy shows, echo park, frank conniff, free, hermosa beach, hollywood, laughspin, los angeles, los feliz, nick kroll, open mic, pasadena, sketch, stand up, west hollywood

1) Nick Kroll’s Thank You Very Cool to be released uncensored and uncut on DVD on Sept. 13th. We couldn’t get any news about his sketch show, Nick Show Kroll, from Nick as he’s busy with the League, but we’ll keep you updated.

2) The Comedy Store’s Alf Lamont details the changing environment of comedy and how comedy clubs need to change if they expect to survive/live up to their job title. Please read this, it’s important.

3) There’s still time to get in a short, or if you have a feature somehow in your back pocket, into the Sundance Film Festival, but you better get to Fed Ex pronto (deadline-to be received by Sept. 2nd & late deadline-to be received by Sept. 23rd).

4) Though Rob Delaney and Paul Danke have been killing it posting on Vice and Earwolf and Megan Amram has lifted tweeting to an art form, the role of comedy in novel form it’s vastly overlooked when it shouldn’t be. Splitsider investigates.

5) It’s another day for Jeff MacKinnon at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Lucky bastard.

EMBED-Standup Anywhere: A Holy Taco Contest – Watch more free videos

2) Kelly Oxford on Last Call with Carson Daly.

3) Weird Al Yankovic made music videos for his whole new album and they’re all right here like Party in the CIA.

4) RT @MarcMaron For those asking: My New CD, ‘This Has to be Funny’, will be out in August.

5) Megan Amram at the Cheesecake Factory

6) Jackie Kashian in LA Weekly.

7) Last night, we went to the vintage video game arcade Ground Kontrol for the first edition of Ron Funches’ No Pun Intendo and to show you how packed it was, the picture below was literally the best picture we could take of Mike Drucker killing it and dispatching a heckler wearing an Effin Vodka shirt (at a vintage video game arcade no less).

Most amazing part to us was that hipsters wanted to see the show, believed in comedy so much that they stopped playing X-Men to watch comedy.

8) Puddin’-“Question” (This is their 100th episode!)

Great recap from a great comic of a great show.  Trust me, I was there and it was…. GREAT!!! (think Tony the Tiger)
