The city of San Diego thought it prudent to give one Kurt Metzger a jaywalking ticket while he was walking back from a bar rather than driving.
Little did they know that this great bit on Kurt’s Comedy Central hour long stand-up special White Precious would be the result (spoiler alert: they do not come off as the good guys).

For our money, Ben Roy, hailing from Denver’s vibrant comedy scene, is a name that you need to remember if you don’t know already for how damn great his stand-up is.
In a new web series called Working Comic that interviews, you guessed it, working comics around the country, Ben tells his story of transitioning from bands to doing stand-up.

You might have heard that SNL cast member Brooks Wheelan was recently let go from SNL, but we would hope you know that Brooks is a really funny stand-up. In fact, that’s how he got noticed in the first place.
Now, he’s going on tour or “falling back (sorta)” to do that very thing that got him to a SNL audition.
From now through November, he’ll be stopping by Montreal, NYC, Amsterdam, Connecticut, Indiana, Seattle, LA, and St. Louis. Brooks says, “Go to my bad website for details.”
That’s right, Tommy Johnagin has been on The Late Show with David Letterman to do stand-up 7 times. That’s becoming a harder and harder feat to accomplish these days given the proliferation of stand-up over the last decade. Last night marked his 7th set and, obviously, there’s a reason why Johnagin keeps getting invited back (hint: he’s damn funny).

Tonight, Mark Normand and Joe Wengert will have their first stand-up specials premiere in the latest episodes of Comedy Central’s The Half Hour starting at 12AM on Comedy Central.
Before that, you can get a look behind the scenes with the two in case, for whatever reason, you’re not familiar with how funny both are.
Despite what happened on Last Comic Standing this season, Ben Kronberg is back on TV doing stand-up. Last night, he did a set on Late Night with Seth Meyers and was as funny as he’s ever been.
So, rather than f’ing off, Ben just got applause and laughs.
Last time he was on Conan, Mark Normand had one of our favorite late night stand up sets of the year.
This week, Normand returned to Conan as well as having released his album and having his half hour special on Comedy Central still to premiere tomorrow.

Now that The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail is a TV series having its series premiere on Comedy Central Jul. 23rd 12:30AM, you’re probably wondering how it, a great comedy show in the back of a comic book store, all got started.
Well, while it’s always been in the back of Meltdown Comics, it hasn’t always been hosted by Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani. In fact, the show had been going for awhile, but only went to the weekly phenomenon that we all know now with the forces of Jonah, Kumail, and producer/booker Emily Gordon coming together a few years ago.

A Musical About Stand Up Comedy Will Feature Actual Stand Up Comedians
New York City will be the place where HA! The Musical, a musical about stand-up comedy, first takes the stage. While one might be skeptical of this, please note that comedians Christian Finnegan, Big Jay Oakerson, Shawn Pearlman, Casey Balsham, and more are already part of HA! The Musical.
The limited run of HA! starts in August and this cast definitely has us more than intrigued.
You might have seen the very funny Michelle Wolf on Late Night Seth Meyers already as a bit player, but, last night, she got to take that stage for the first time as a stand-up comedian.

Geoff Tate’s 2nd Album ‘Just Another Clown’ Out Now
The next week or so is turning out some nice stand-up releases. Stand Up Records has just released the second album from the very funny Geoff Tate, Just Another Clown.
If you enjoyed his first album I Got Potential like we did, you should do yourself a favor and pick up this second one.
Mark Normand’s Debut Comedy Album ‘Still Got It’ Now on Pre-Order
We’ve been waiting awhile for some sort of album or special from the hysterical Mark Normand and finally, “Still Got It”, his very first comedy album, is coming out July 15th from Comedy Central Records.

Lewis Black Will Be Taking Topic Suggestions to Rant On For This Weekend
Lewis Black is holding an exclusive performance at a winery in Napa Valley this weekend that will also be livestreamed. Those in attendance as well as those watching online (you have to a member of The Lewis Black Fan Club or pay $10 to watch the stream of the event) will have the chance to give Black topics to rant on as he is known quite well for.
Of course, this event is being called Lewis Black: The Rant Is Due.

For the longest time, it’s been known that the U.S. isn’t as in to soccer or, as the rest of the world calls it, football. As a result, some foreigners like to impress that fact on Americans when we participate in the World Cup, in which we’re currently doing not too shabby.
Yannis Pappas offered up a solution of sorts to this problem in his half hour special on Comedy Central that premiered this past weekend. Watch it here.
Hari Kondabolu makes his return to do stand-up on Conan and is, again, great in going through a set list that includes such topics as colonialism, chess, and speaking Chinese in a Chinese restaurant.
Myq Kaplan has pretty much done stand up, and deservingly so, on almost every late night talk show you can do. Conan, Letterman, Ferguson, and now, Late Night with Seth Meyers.

At 12AM tonight, Comedy Central resumes their series of half hour stand-up specials starting with Michael Che and Chris Distefano.
