China Purges the Existence of South Park in China Because South Park Made Fun of Them

China Purges the Existence of South Park in China Because South Park Made Fun of Them

It’s kind of unsurprising at this point that the Chinese government instantly retaliated like a petulant child against of one of America’s longest running satirical animated series, South Park, after they dedicated an episode specifically making fun of how Hollywood often attempts to curry favor with Chinese audiences/government because, of course, there’s potential to make more money. If President Xi Jinping can’t take being compared to Winnie the Pooh, they definitely aren’t going to like South Park’s take on how they run things.

As China has the mechanisms in place to scrub their Internet clean of something, all South Park content and mentions of South Park are reportedly gone.

For a country that has over a billion people, we wonder how long they can keep stupid charade going (this reeks of an Emperor’s New Clothes situation). It seems pretty unsustainable to have censorship operate at this level of that many people, especially as tech gets more and more clever to get around censors to get to a free Internet and the world is watching.

Anyways, we guess China still hasn’t figured out that their actions are only going to bolster many people to want to roast them more.

South Park Does “Commemorative” 20th Season Promo

Almost a score ago, some foul mouthed kids from Colorado started a revolution. For the most part, that revolution was a bunch of people trying to imitate Cartman saying “Respect my authoritay!!” as well as deep dive down the satirical minds of Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

In 2016, they’re still keeping all of that alive in South Park and the promo for the newest season pays tribute to that.

Season 20 of South Park premieres Wednesday, September 14th on comedy Central.

That translates to 23 seasons and well over 300 episodes of the now living legend that is South Park.

For now, Comedy Central has made good on South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s desire to keep the show going as long as they can. They had two seasons to go under their current deal and just got three more ordered, which will roll out over the next 5 years.

Also, over the next 5 years, Hulu will get to stream all of South Park paying the hefty price tag of $192 million throughout that duration.

Off the top of our head, only The Simpsons and SNL have longer on-going runs as comedy series than South Park.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker Want To Keep “South Park” Going For as Long as They Can

Well, looks like both The Simpsons and South Park will stick around a little longer.

Amidst doing press for their follow-up game to Stick of Truth, Matt Stone and Trey Parker touched on where they stand with the entire South Park franchise and if they want to keep the show going.

They’ve been around for a landmark 18 years, still love doing South Park, and managed to do other projects as well, so Stone and Parker are going to keep following the wonderfully absurd lives of a few foul mouthed kids in South Park, CO until Comedy Central cancels the show.

Potentially, this means South Park could be the longest running animated series ever and definitely deserves its own gigantic TV marathon and app/streaming site.

This is definitely something we didn’t see coming from Judd Apatow, but, with Laura Dern and South Park and Team America: World Police co-writer Pam Brady delving into the world of female football fans in a film, we’re on board.

Even if the project ends up being something else, the idea of something between The League, Girls, and Enlightened, with a dash of Team America/South Park sounds pretty great.

In case you don’t know, South Park basically produces an episode for air right before it airs and has done so for the past 16 seasons. It took a power outage for them to not be able to deliver and delay a week.

This is pretty amazing considering how long they could have had a time loss incident sign not set back to zero.

Bill Hader Will Write for South Park Next Season

Not that one of the longest running shows at Comedy Central, South Park, needed a shot in the arm, but Bill Hader joining in at South Park as announced yesterday at Comic Con will definitely make for a very intriguing season especially given their lightning fast concept to finished episode process.

We wonder if Hader’s weird impressions will end up being South Park characters.
