Selfsgiving May Be What You Want to Do This Thanksgiving

November 15, 2016
Uncategorized

Whomever you voted for or whether you voted or not, many Americans are heated at each other, to say the least.

Some time to cool off is definitely needed (even though we all have to come together at some point) and perhaps a Selfsgiving might be a better option for Thanksgiving this year.

Watch Above Average explain what Selfsgiving is here.

Funny or Die’s The Earliest Show Has Ben Schwartz and Lauren Lapkus Deal with a Talk Show Gone Off the Rails

TJ Miller has been noted to make morning talk shows go off the rails.

Funny or Die’s faux version of an early morning talk show might just be somehow even more chaotic.

Ben Schwartz and Lauren Lapkus co-host The Earliest Show on Funny or Die that has all the trappings of your stereotypical, cheery talk show that’s on at 6AM. However, there’s a dark undertone that Schwarz and Lapkus deal with that makes this a little more absurdly serious than your average talk show parody.

There are two episodes released right now, but there are more coming each week.

This Adidas x Palace Campaign Perfectly Sends Up Men’s Shoe Ads

Every once in awhile a brand taps into a parody of their product just right. They send up the very thing it’s selling, but also does so in a way that makes them way cooler all the same.

Adidas has been doing a lot over the last couple years to boost their reputation in the ever burgeoning world of streetwear. Their latest collaboration with UK streetwear star Palace has an absurd, satirical campaign poking fun at how ridiculous the level of masculinity is within an men’s shoe ad.

In fact, this ad is way more clever, fun, and ridiculous than it need be. Watch it here.

Comedians and actors Nick Kroll, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Ryan Reynolds, Eric Andre, and Mike O’Brien are all pretty much straight as far as we know.

Yet, something was in the air yesterday, perhaps the looming end of the century old Curse of the Billy Goat, that had all three interviews end in the same spectacular fashion.

Well, without giving too much away, Mike O’Brien’s 7 Minutes in Heaven ends how he tries to end all episodes of 7 Minutes in Heaven and Conan O’Brien reenacts the Notebook with Ryan Reynolds.

You can take a wild guess what the common link between these interviews are or just enjoy watching male friendship be taken to the next level between the likes of Colbert and Kroll.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Is Already Off to the Races with a Parody of Beyonce’s Lemonade and Reluctant Foreplay Anthem

This past week, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend kicked off its second season and hit the ground running with the form that has won them awards right out of the gate in season one.

They’ve got a music video for Love Kernels that takes some surrealist cues from Beyonce’s Lemonade and sends them up exquisitely. Along with that, Josh and Rebecca sing a song that goes to all those bouts of foreplay that seem to needlessly beat around the bush, pun intended.

If they keep this up, they can definitely count on being a perennial awards season nominee.

The latest episode of The Simpsons takes their long-running, ultra-violent send-up of Tom & Jerry to a whole new level by doing a Making-a-Murderer-inspired take on Itchy and Scratchy.

In this case, it’s a little more clear who did the murdering though.

While it’s certainly unbelievable that there would be undecided voters in this election, they do exist.

Above Average wanted to get “their story” and see what has them so internally conflicted on choosing between Hillary and Trump.

Well, they “found” some undecided voters and made this video profile of them that really shows why they can’t decide.

When you’re a monster of a human being, you often wouldn’t be self-aware of your own horrific nature. In fact, you have probably gotten so far below the depths of your humanity that ever having a metaphorical mirror held up to you is probably an exercise in futility.

The “secret” Pablo Escobar sitcom, It’s Pablo, “uncovered” by Más Mejor shines a light on this phenomenon in the latest episode.

The Cooties are already great. Reggie Watts is also already great. They all definitely do not need to be made great again.

So, as a group of greats, they made a perfect, satirical Trump supporter song and accompanying music video, Trumpy Trump, that shows why one Donald Trump isn’t actually fit to make anything great at any time.

As there is plenty of music that’s made in a bedroom, it only stands to reason that there would be musical comedy that would be also made in a bedroom. That being said, an album of funny songs that don’t have the benefit of being recorded live are near impossible feat to pull off.

SF’s Nick Stargu AKA DJ Real, however, has been able to do that with his latest album They’ll Say Yes. With a mastery of synths, loops, and lyrical cleverness, DJ Real has compiled over a dozen songs over 8 years that get-in and get-out of the melody and the joke quickly. As this is his sixth release, he’s really honed his craft.

You can listen to the whole album and buy it off Bandcamp here.

To up the ante on his own farce, Stargu has even made a MIDI version of this very album.

It’s Pablo, their latest release, surmises a secretly made sitcom starring Pablo Escobar in the style of old family sitcoms of yesteryear.

Thanks to the minds of Joey Devine, Zach Gonzalez-Landis and Chris Garcia, the performances of Chris, Becky Garcia and Frankie Quiñones, and the direction of Teddy Filson and Alex Koll, you now have a perfect dessert for after Narcos season 2.

As Homer Simpson is a beloved animated character for nearly three decades on television and Donald Trump is a real-life, figurative black hole of idiocy, bigotry, and privilege, we get how this mash-up dub from Peter Serafinowicz is sort of unholy.

Still, if there is anyone that shouldn’t be in charge of nuclear power in the real world, Trump is in the top 10, which is probably subconscious reason of why we still enjoy this parody video plenty.

Matt Braunger Offers a Great Follow-Up to Horrific “How to Talk to Women Wearing Headphones” Article

Basically, this sentient-grease-fire of an article called How To Talk to a Woman Who Is Wearing Headphones by Dan Bacon was just posted that not only encourages unwanted advances by men to pick up women, but reinforces patriarchal gender roles and stereotypes to the point that you might question whether you’re living in 2016 yet.

Comedian/sane human being who does live in 2016, Matt Braunger, felt that that Dan Bacon left out a few steps and offered his own satirical corollary, How To Talk to a Woman Wearing Headphones Pt. 2 that almost washes out the bad taste of the source material out of your mouth.
