Bill Murray to Return to David Letterman’s ‘Late Show’ for 20th Anniversary
To help commemorate 20 years of being at the reins of The Late Show, Bill Murray is set to make another appearance, which is only news because of what Bill does on Letterman like this.
What will happen? Your guess is as good as ours, but we’re going to guess that Bill will recreate being the first guest on Letterman as a Groundhog Day gag.
The art form of comedy and how illusive being at any good at is sometimes begs the question if comedy is in any sort of DNA. We don’t have an exact answer to that, but it will be interesting to see if Tina Fey’s daughter Penelope might offer some insight into that.
We’re only basing that observation on the bizarre, sociopathic tendencies that Tina brought up during her appearance on Letterman this week (at the very least, they could make for some funny stories). Watch the clip of the Letterman interview here.
All we say is that Steve Martin is a comedic genius and this might be enough to hold us over until Steve does anything else comedy wise for awhile.
Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation, Coffee Town) stops by and chats over classy drinks with Paul F. Tompkins on Tompkins’ Speakeasy web series and enlightens us all to how important living life is for comedy and the experience of free lance writing jokes for Letterman.
The very funny Irish comedian Dylan Moran is making headway here in the States like performing on Letterman last night and we’re happy that he’s doing so.
Andy Kindler did a set on The Late Show with David Letterman last night and we’re so happy the rest of the country got to learn Kindler’s comedy formulas chunk as well as his transitions bits, and a third comedy technique that you’ll just have to watch the set to see.
All comedy 101 aside, it’s good to see someone finally get fun and loose on Letterman.
As John Oliver is filling in for Jon Stewart over at The Daily Show for the summer, Oliver is deadly terrified of what may happen and thus looking for any advice. While on Letterman last night, Oliver got Letterman’s advice on how to avoid talking about a movie while promoting it, which was pretty great.
In a related story, Brian Williams made a sincere gesture to Jon Stewart last night on The Daily Show to not let this “Oliver Twist” guy take over at the top and end of the interview.
Tommy Johnagin returns to The Late Show with David Letterman yet again for another great stand-up set. Let’s hope Johnagin gets on TV more soon.
Not that a master of observation like Jim Gaffigan needed a well to tap comedic material from, but, as you’ve seen recently and this interview with Letterman, Jim talking about his 5 kids is pretty great.
As opposed to Bill Murray getting abducted on Letterman, Steve Martin greets everyone on late night sets in NYC including Letterman when he’s walking to the couch on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
What else can we say besides comedy legend Bill Cosby was on Letterman and you need to watch it even if you hate comedy.
Dan Mintz made his first appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last night with a great set that thankfully brought weird and funny back (You do know that Emo Phillips used to do Letterman, right?) to Letterman.
