2017 Laughing Skull in Atlanta Is Accepting Stand-Up Submissions

Here’s another comedy festival that you might want to get in on if doing stand-up is your thing.

The 2017 Laughing Skull Comedy Festival is now accepting submissions until February 14th. 72 comedians will be accepted for one of the South’s most popular comedy festivals.

The regular submission fee is $45, but if you’re reading this, you can use an exclusive Comedy Bureau discount for $30 until Sunday, February 5th. Just use the following promo code “Bureau2017” when submitting.

You’ll find out whether you made it in or not on or before Wednesday, March 1, 2017 and the actual festival will happen on the week of May 1st in Atlanta, GA.

Dave Stone Recording His First Solo Album Mar. 7th in Atlanta

Once reserved to the living quarters of a van, Dave Stone has made his way up the comedic ranks here in LA and across the country. He’s also gotten into a real apartment as well all on the merit of his own carefully honed material.

He has made two albums with the great Beards of Comedy, which includes the likes of the very funny Andy Sandford and Joe Zimmerman, but now is striking out on his own for his very first solo album on Sat. Mar. 7th at Atlanta’s Laughing Skull Lounge.

Do not miss it. There’s a 8PM show and 10:30PM show just so you won’t.

Congratulations to Grant Lyon Taking 1st Place at Skullfest

Atlanta’s Laughing Skull just held their annual comedy festival along with the comedy competition that goes along with it and we’re happy to say that the very funny Grant Lyon took home the top prize.

So, with that in mind, check out Grant live when you can. He’s based in LA, so you should have ample opportunity.

Post Brunch Update 11/17/10

1) The Big Trouble in Little Tokyo Open Mic @ Señor Fish thanks everyone for coming out and making it a bigger room. Also, thanks to “cheeseburger cookies” that were raffled off tasting like normal vanilla flavored/chocolate filled cookies. Come next Tues. 2) Stripped Stories @ UCB Theatre gave an increasingly rare experience amongst live comedy shows where performers actually talk about themselves as honestly as they possibly can. So much painful/endearing humor can be drawn from the horrible/amazing things that happen in life and Stripped Stories showed, beyond a shadow of doubt, how great that can be. Though the name of the show might lead you to believe it’s just a bunch of vulgar sex stories, I believe that “stripped” is in reference into how every performer on the show strips their normal stage persona and become vulnerable and hilarious in a way that I never expected. In from NYC, Giulia Rozzi and Margot Leitman stopped here in LA with their amazing show at the UCB Theatre and hosted/shared some sensational and hysterical stories with Michelle Buteau, Tony Sam, and a few musical confessions from Wendy Ho. Morning Debriefing 11/16/10

1) Performing at Keep it Clean Comedy @ 1739 Public House was one of the best times I’ve ever had doing stand-up. With a crowd intent on listening (minus one of the supporting actors from Eastbound and Down that was wasted in the back of the bar), a perfectly darkened room with a spotlight that’s actually not blinding, and Matt Braunger absolutely “killing” it before I have to close the show, I/The Comedy Bureau actually had fun, as amazing hostess JC Coccoli suggested I do. As people already like coming down to 1739 Public House for the 64+ beers on tap/that hip Los Feliz atmosphere, the audience is surprisingly receptive to comedy as they were last night with the great line-up of Margie Kment (French Toast), Jono Zalay, Giulia Rozzi (Kimmel), April Richardson (Chelsea Lately), Matt Braunger (Letterman), and myself/Jake Kroeger/Bureau Director of the Comedy Bureau. Also, if everything else I just mentioned wasn’t enough of an incentive, this show is completely FREE and thus you should come to an edition of Keep It Clean Comedy. Keep It Clean Comedy: Every Monday at 1739 Public House (1739 N. Vermont Ave. in Los Feliz). Free.
