Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland Take Over Late Night with Seth Meyers and Do Their Own Show ‘Too Much Tuna’

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland got their latest late night appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. With not only a late night talk show at their disposal, but a theatre in our nation’s capitol as well, Gil and George opted to do one more round of their beloved prank/chat show Too Much Tuna.

Basically, they hijacked Meyers show and had Meyers as a guest and had the sort of fun that they do at their Oh, Hello show.

Also, they explained, in the actual televised interview where they were the guests, how their show pays “hompage” to Broadway.

We’re guessing that Mulaney and Kroll could do these characters on Broadway for as long as they desire.

Seeso Orders a ‘Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson’ Behind The Scenes Series from Paul Reiser and David Steven Simon

Called “There’s Johnny!”, one will probably wonder how it stacks up next to The Larry Sanders Show.

Paul Reiser and David Steven Simon who worked together on Mad About You are teaming up again to write a show that focuses on what happened with the legendary Johnny Carson behind the scenes of his run at The Tonight Show.

David Gordon Green, who Reiser works with on Red Oaks, is set to produce with both Paul and Simon and might bring some very intriguing comedic flavor to this show.

We’ll find out what this ends up being on 2017 when it starts streaming on Seeso.

While Colbert certainly brought the goods in breaking down the debate, NYC’s Emma Willmann also had a great night in her very first stand-up performance on network television. That’s especially impressive given that last night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was completely live.

Watch her set and see for yourself here.

Freeform Developing Late Night Series with Iliza Shlesinger

Well, if everything goes according to Freeform’s plan, there will be three female hosts in late night.

Details are sparse at this point, probably because cable network Freeform sees that there is plenty of shows that follow the traditional late night talk show format and they want to work with Iliza Shlesinger to develop something that caters to her comedy.

So, thankfully, the boys club is becoming a boys club less and less everyday.

Perhaps, your idea of the voice of reason wasn’t so gruff and didn’t curse so much.

Still, Lewis Black offers such a rational explanation as to why we all should move on from the nonsense that is Trump during his appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night.

Brent Sullivan has been very keenly described as a smooth operator when it comes to doing stand-up. He also has sharp, cutting material that juxtaposes quite nicely with that slick delivery.

His very first set on Conan was a solid exhibition all of that and you can see so for yourself here.

On last night’s Conan, Al Madrigal skirted the usual topics of weird flights and yearbook photos in a late night talk show interview for something far more engaging.

Seth Meyers Bans Donald Trump from Being a Guest on “Late Night”

June 15, 2016
Uncategorized
ban, donald trump, late night, nbc, seth meyers, washington post

This may be a symbolic gesture at best, but we can only hope that only a few more shows follow suit here.

As a result of Donald Trump banning The Washington Post from covering his campaign events, Late Night host Seth Meyers is banning Trump from being a guest on Late Night.

Seth announced this during his “A Closer Look” segment that delved into Trump’s bigoted response to the horrific Orlando shooting this past weekend.

Again, this may be a small push back against Trump. However, if other shows do ban him and Trump won’t get to, let’s say, play a silly game on The Tonight Show and get less airtime, this will have been worth it.

Samantha Bee Sticks with Her Trademark Fury in Response to the Orlando Shooting

As Samantha Bee points out in this segment, late night hosts are supposed to take a sincere moment to reflect when hosting a late night talk show following a tragic event like this weekend’s mass shooting of Pulse in Orlando.

Bee has proved that she’s not like the rest of the boys club in her short time in hosting Full Frontal and has set herself apart by never pulling any of her punches on the show. Her segment covering the deadliest mass shooting in American history is no different and we love her for it. It’s a perfect mix of rage, comedy, and a timely message.

For awhile, we were worried that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was going to forego having stand-up. However, the show has gotten into a rhythm over the last few months of featuring comedians, both accomplished and ones that you definitely should get to know.

NYC’s Marina Franklin is the latest to take the stage at The Ed Sullivan Theater and keep up the stand-up tradition that Letterman originally had going.

Last night on The Tonight Show, Harland showed us that he could also do stand-up and be just as weird and wonderful when on the couch in an interview.

It’s rare that you see two late night hosts get really ‘inside baseball’ about their craft while on air on one of their own late night programs.

When it does happen, it’s fascinating as you’re pointed out subtle, subconscious nuances that probably contribute to why you love something like Full Frontal with Samantha Bee or Conan.
